Craig we love the struggles and successes, especially with folks like Hans and Viktor steppin in with deep cut knowledge. For headers go gasket free, use the high temp aluminum silicone rtv. Works wonders sealing sbf header flanges

Soft aluminum or copper header gaskets. I’ve had the old Percy’s dead soft aluminum gaskets in my Ramcharger’s 360 magnum for 10 yrs. Even all the twisting and etc of off roading a C channel frame truck they have held up. Installed them on my Duster after I got it too.

Craig, I think an EZ oil drain valve would solve your oil change problem. I've used them on heavy diesel applications for the same issue. Thanks for the great content.

The found on road dead part of a bumpside if the hood latch. Try finding a junkyard hood that has not splapped the rain rail of the cab. Want to hotrod a ford, Ford is the reason hoodpins were invented. You dont want the look outside, weld or screw something to the underside, ( of one of the sexist truck hoods ever made. Point those pins down drill a hole in the flat part abouve the trim, and access the clovis through the grill, Hoodpins Hito. Dont die on us because you hit a seam in new asphalt.

try some remflex header gaskets these are a litlle thicker so can sompress a litlle more to duplicate the shape of youre header flange. still holding on on my cheap patriot headers that has not a perfectly strait flange

Definitely check the header flange.. back in the day the only gasket that never had issues with was the MR Gasket 5930 ultra seal

Look into a Fumoto Valve for the oil pan drain.

You need some Remflex gaskets. They seal junk warped headers. Also do you plan to slap some drag tires on and making some 1/8-1/4 mile passes?

Shaving off the core support , and mounting a trunck latch aiming up , you may not have rip your whole truck apart to work on it. Once you cut ford stupid off the core supprt, YOU CAN PULL THE MOTOR WITH A FLOORJAck. Without front clipping the rig.

The welds on the face of the header flanges are probably causing the gasket issue. Next time you have the headers off weld the pipes to the backside of the header flanges and grind the welds on the face of the header flange flat.

Your headers need cut between the cylinders so each cylinder with move individually and help from leaking

Hito, if you intend on using the motor you spent your tution on , for anything but a soapbox race, a front sump oilpan, in my fordhead opinion should have never made it past the enginnering department unless you backward.. Everygoddamn ford with a front sump, Iam an oldschool bumpside lover. Had the 390, the 406, the 428, all the fe blocks were front sump. Till the first time i changed the oil. Back in the 90s, you could still get factory rear sump pans, and pickups from any ford parts place. When you trash the twin i beam shit, so you stay on road above 55 mph, rear sump it. Was like 80 bucks from ford for a rearsump when i dumped a 460 in my last bumside, Hint, No econoline had a front sump . No matter what year or engine, trust me when i say get it with the econolie dipstick and tube. Its fkn awesome havin the dipstick where you can reach it and dont gouge your cranium on the fkn hoodlatch, or need a ladder to reach it in the hiboys.

Been cussin ford engineering about a bumpside since the day they were made. Ya gotta remove the radiator to pull the motor, why not chop off the stupidest part of a ford. Could cuss that fuckin radiator core support. They dont make a cherrypicker trusty enough to get my ten thousand dollar fresh 460 NINE FUCKIN FEET IN THE AIR TO CLEAR THAT. The best thing eye exer did to a bumpside was sawzall off the radiator core support flush with where you stick your hand in to open the hood. From the first one eye sawzalled off ( cherry picker in the mud, pushin the truck) Every time i see ole hanks fk up i grind my teeth, Bro, your not gonna sell it at barret jackson, make fix that shit. . Was so pissed , swappin motors in the mud eveything above the headlight trim underhood sawzall. And an rearsump with a van dipstick. Thank me later.
