My grandfather has a 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix Convertible in Candy Apple Metallic. It is such a sweet ride! If I am not mistaken, it is equipped with a 428cui and a 3-speed automatic. Only it has been souped up a little. From 376hp to 425hp, I do not know what exactly has been done, but it works. Probably a cam, stroker kit or something, idk.
@trickyricky12147
@trickyricky12147 2 ай бұрын
@@danishghostriderJust goes to show cars were pushing out decent gross hp from factory especially certain GM brands like Pontiac, Buick and Olds. 376hp was pretty decent for stock back then meanwhile cars today still barely make it to the 300s excluding modern 'muscle' like a hellcat, corvette and whatever the hell else is out there today. What hit home back then was that auto makers packed mild performance in seemingly everyday cars and that's what gave birth to the sleeper concept imo.
@jonmurraymurray5512

@trickyricky12147 heh. Had an 85 Shelby Dodge Charger. Was in a pick and pull lot and there was a Omio with a super 6 package on it. Bought the whole front end and stuffed in my Charger. 300 hp, about 350 lbs of torque in a car that weighed 2400 lbs. Had so much fun with that. Thing would corner flat and put fear into a corvette.

Two things I noticed about this video from an AWESOME channel. Every time Kevin pitched his merch he was wearing someone elses. Shout out to Mortske and summit. Watching this channel is like watching one huge love letter to the old cars that I used to watch when I was real young. They would pass by the garage my grandpa and I worked in in Ankeny while they were on the way to the main road and I always used to stop and watch. Restored, patina, didn't matter as long as I got to hear it sing and see it run. Seeing this lovely old girl sing again made me so happy bringing back all the old memories with my grandpa. Cant wait to get a house I can start wrenching in.

I learned to knit and sew from Gramma and wrench on things and cuss like a sailor from Grandpa 😂. Grandpa works out of a dedicated garage addition that they added doing off jobs for his friends and church group. I remember having to redo a truck because one of his church buddies' sons was pissy he didn't get a new one and tried to baptize it in a couple rivers 😂. That and work on a dozer since I was the only one small enough to fit in the engine compartment of the dozer(for ref, 5'4" and someone compact lol). Fun fun times.

FINALLY, someone that knows that correct geometry isn't the ''make the contact patch wide as hell in the middle of the valve'' method (that ISN'T right). And the Straub video will get you real close, but I like to measure at actual mid-lift and take the checker springs out of the picture. That way rocker ratio can't throw off your measurements. A simple clamp collar and a dial indicator can put your valve (and tappet) right in the middle. Then everything is rigid while you're measuring.

Awesome job! I am so happy I discovered your channel, Kevin and Mook! I'm not as serious of a car guy as some, but I can appreciate the amount of work, care, and love that goes into each and every one of the vehicles you help to bring back to life. Congratulations on your recent engagement!

I'll definitely look into the USS Cod. I've been aboard the USS Kidd in Baton Rouge and the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, so a submarine would be good to round everything out. As soon as the USS Texas gets back to museum status after it's drydock, that's also on the list and I've got a pretty good long distance shot of what I guess is the USS Alabama in Mobile Bay.

They're making it a 500 horsepower stroker which the old 400 is now a 461 cubic inch monster, is what Kevin said. Plus the extra power is necessary for that Bonneville. There's no point in keeping the engine stock after it couldn't run for shit haha.

Love watching this build! Interesting to see what is offered today for the classics. Great tip for the high flow water pump. And the lower end looks bullet proof! You built a ripper guys! Next, maybe some AC , and a beautiful paint job!! Later on a super comfy interior?. Mink?

I grew up in Cleveland. My dad and I would visit the Cod on a regular basis. He was in the Navy and was on the Grampus which was just like the Cod. My dad and uncle drag raced at Thompson Drag Raceway in Thompson Ohio in the 50s and 60s. Good memories.

Very cool. You have some great sponsors. Back in high school my buddy had a old Green 1:24:51 Bonneville he would drive to drivers Ed and then we would go cruising. Cops never looked at us. 1981 themselves were the days. No photo evidence of our escapades.

On the clutch steel plates one side hade a chamfer and i put in a couple wrong and ended up paying the shop to correct my error. 300$. Pay attention folks . 👍👍👍✌️
