Often times in Shakespeare, you see the villains sort of winning… But then they become the victims of their own evil and destroy themselves. That perfectly describes the people who run Star Wars for Disney. Yes, they may have won, but the kingdom they rule is a pale joke in the shadow of what Star Wars once was. So you have to ask yourself: did they really win anything?

On that last note, that is 100% correct. My last movie was Last Jedi... and from that day I have never watched a single Star Wars film since. Sure I lurk to see what people are talking about (like this video) but my lurking has been becoming less and less as the years go by as the same sh!t keeps happening. I remember being so angry, so frustrated, until one day I just said... I don't need or want this anymore. I got tired of being angry and I got tired of being called an 'ist' by the ones who made the show. I got tired of being sad. So I gave it all up. Toys, dvds, role-playing games, video games, action figures, lightsabers, subscriptions, all of it. One of my friends told me that 'Star Wars is not for fans, it's not made for us. It's made for kids. And it will always try to be for kids. Our time is over.' I don't agree with that fully but it did help me realize that Star Wars is a corpse. And I am saying this for those who maybe also are tired of being angry. Let go. Give it all away. My life has improved greatly, I found other things to be excited for that are actually cool and don't hate me. I hope that everyone will finally set this down and move on to be happy. George gave it up, so should we.

@@Ouroboros_99i don't think those are exactly the same thing. "Who you are" is intentionally vague to include every self centered, self obsessed person who just wants to do what they want to do, what makes them happy. Finding responsiblity and family and your moral obligation is one form of finding yourself, but it's just one form. Another person can decide "all that responsibility and sacrifice stuff, that's not for me". And that's who they are, so how can you judge them? I would say it's more about accepting what you _need_ to be, not "discovering who you are" which is usually just code speak for self centered people who want their cake and to eat it as well.

There is one "Star Wars without war" aspect I would find very interesting to explore, and that would be where it is not the two clear forces battling between good and evil, but rather two forces battling within the realm of the Republic. Maybe boring politics, yes - but wouldn't it be interesting to know what the Jedi knights would do when they're sent out as peace keepers to a conflict, but both sides committ war crimes? How would their very core deal with the situation and decision making, when the black and white world they're trained to view it as, is shattered around them in pure grey paint?
@nightperson1012Күн бұрын
The one "Star Wars without wars" concept I've seen that worked was the Galaxy of Fear books, but that was due to its protagonists and their unique position in the world. They were refugee children from Alderaan post-Death Star, and their adventures were not exactly connected to the larger story, but aspects of them were still referenced, reminding the reader that the world is bigger than what we're seeing.

damn Drinker, that line of self-reflection really hits home...but what else is out there? I think part of the appeal of the old Star Wars is that it's a cultural touchstone that everybody gets and almost everybody likes. If you grow up, give it up, and move on, that's one less connection to a common culture. it feels like how one by one, local pubs are closing down in the UK

Star wars was never a good franchise to begin with.. I'm glad to see this overrated piece of shitmeat die and desecrated ~ Just watch any series Japanese people are cooking atm. Vinland Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen, fucking Freiren ( Female great Protag show ), Tbh I Find Cyberpunk 2077 to be masterpiece in semi-realistic future setting and its narrative elements about Technology, survival with implants, what it actually means to be poor ( without having implants lol ), the politics where powerful ppl are actually powerful ( President Myers in phantom Liberty, Mr. HANDS or 4 eyed man in Edgerunners ) & none of those elements have nothing to do with "Omg my Dad was Darth Vader" like "Obi wan and Darth Vader were friends" & "Omg Quigon Jinn trained Obi wan kenobi and adopted Darth Vader as a youngling for Jedi" & "omg Palpatine who was killed by Darth Vader has a Daughter now.." & wait... "She claims herself to be a Skywalker like Darth Vader's grand daughter" ^^^^ Star wars entirety = One Person's family tree.. ?? Should've named "Family war amongst the stars" instead the worst franchise in history is dying with shitty agenda. I'm so glad.

See I’m 25 and remember beating the hell out of my friends with our plastic lightsabers 😂 That’s what made Star Wars great. Not the DEI initiatives. The wonder inherent in the story. The ability to do anything and be in any environment and watch the characters handle the issues that arise as a result. That requires competent writers though, an ability completely lacking amongst the leftists who took over Hollywood over the last 20ish years.

You would think that the basic concepts of time and space would be so intuitive that any writer should be able to understand them, but The Acolyte is here to prove that theory wrong. Anything offscreen is treated almost like it’s in quantum superposition, able to be paused or fast-forwarded (or just fucking teleported) at will in order to make incompatible chronologies sync up how the script needs them to, and wandering off from a group of people taking the most direct route to a room allows you to inexplicably reach that room ahead of them. If you asked Tony Gilroy about the layout of any of the locations of Andor, he would have a map somewhere to pull out that would allow you to follow how each character moved through the location in their scenes. If you asked Leslye Headland the same thing about any location in The Acolyte, I think you’d just get a blank stare and possibly a grumbled assertion that the question is sexist.

With the advances in AI I have an idea where true Star Wars fans can make a “spoof” or a tribute to Star Wars. Where you change the names of the characters slightly and slight details but everyone knows what they’re watching. You get some good unknown actors and film amazing scenes. You have AI do the CGI and action scenes and put it on KZbin for free while the individual actors and directors can then make money off of their patreon or other content. Basically since they’re not monetizing the actual product they put out they can’t be stopped from making it. However they can make money from the popularity of what they produced and become a source for actual Star Wars fans to rally around. The same way that the boys isn’t the avengers. You can make a similar thing to Star Wars and when people gravitate towards it, we can show disney that we reject their shitty content.

I believe that’s incorrect. Underdog is used to describe a competitor with little chance of winning, or a person with little status. Underdog isn’t a moral position. It’s entirely accurate and reasonable to say the Sith were the underdogs at that time, and doesn’t imply the Republic to be bad.

Why is power *not* important, exactly? Even the original Star Wars (and prequels) reasoned that the power someone (or groups of someones) has has an affect on how their morality impacts the universe around it. Isn't just pretending power isn't important because everyone with power now is totally just a 'good guy' even MORE ideological a stance to take?
@musashimiyamoto586Ай бұрын
Always remember that since the initial trilogy and the intermittent superhero dash by the Marvel universe the hype and expectations for such movies has increased thousand fold. We naturally expect so much more now. Still no reason to make overblown CGI-infused remakes of classics like Blade Runner or Dune, but that shows you the level. The plot, especially for Dune, has not changed (or improved) since way back then, but everything around it has which made the story seem hollow at the end. Better to start afresh. Which is why I thought Andor made a fantastic contribution in that respect. Great plot, fantastic actors and time being taken to let it all unfold.

Because he is (or was) a well written character in Timothy Zahn's *original* books, and someone with a brain decided to save that character before Disney declared other book plots as non-canon. Though Disney put massive effort to dumb even him down in Ahsoka, against strong females with massive thick plot armors, at least they him having that epic entrance.
