I think its a beautiful way to send him off. Carrie doesn't need another death to deal with and they in a way wrote him moving on. Thats he's happy and found peace. Isnt that how people talk about death? R.I.P. to him.

@@denisestevens3102 the actor didn't tell them he was dying when filming the first season and he died during its production. he specifically requested that his character not be killed off which is why they honored that.

Well all actors and actresses have full physicals before production begins and if they didn't know he was sick then how could he have asked them not to kill him off ? It was a horrible storyline and ive watched sex and the city from season one and the horrible movies and sending him off that way was a cop out he deserved more in that episode and mention of him through out ....horrible writing .👎👎

pretty much what i was going to say.. why are soooo many people hating on this show.. i guess it was like this also during the series' original run too. at least they kept his character alive. we all dont need another death in our lives.

@@danitydon6976 yes but if you knew Stanford's character he would never have left the way they wrote him off ,he would have given everyone a good bye that was personal and meant for them .

That scene had to be very difficult for them, he was so loved. Who knows, he may have had a part in writing his send off. Rest in Peace, Stanny💓

This broke my heart he deserved a better storyline for sure he was such a beautiful character in the show.. .I can't watch the show anymore

Not going to lie, when they ended Stanford’s story line with him becoming a Shrine Priest my reaction was the same as Anthony’s. 😮😅 Did not see that coming.

The scene where Stanford tells Carrie he’s going to Japan had to be cut since Willie was too sick to make it to set. Carrie’s last words to him were supposed to be “Go and see the Geisha for me, Stany”, Makes me want to cry just thinking about what could have been.

Most important...First..he wanted it that way. Second...as a plot twist: It was unique and the exact opposite of what we expecting.That (imo) is what defines "good writing".

I think Sarah Jessica Parker said something to the effect of they were so affected by his death that they had to do something like this. They apparently thought this was the better ending for him 😢

Also the Shinto place of worship is a 神社 "jinja" which is usually referred to in English as a shrine. Shrines are Shinto, temples お寺 "otera" are Buddhist. There are some small caveats and intricacies to this rule that will take too long to get into, but it is strange and almost always inaccurate to say a Shinto temple. I get what they were trying to do and the idea is lovely on paper, but the execution went hideously wrong.
