I’d say they sound more like Parquet Courts than Parquet Courts.

When I saw these dudes on TV with my old bandmates from Destruction Unit I was so proud. It's awesome to see your peers kick ass and be free.

I've learned how not to miss the age of tenderness That I am so lucky to have seen once And now that I've become older I've how to brush over My history and how it's sequenced When I think about you I see a person who Hasn't existed for a long time Before you started using, before I starting choosing To do the same thing for the same reasons The first name I called you is not a name at all More of a duty than a function Often an execution, often with deep confusion of 'Who was I when that name was just mine?' Like a serpent charmer negotiating harm I live with a basket of your silence And as the years record I can feel it growing board But I keep the top on in the meantime When I pass my reflection there isn't any question of Where the person in it came from When I catch myself thinking and hear the voice that speaks inside I know where I got my brain from Every step I've strayed from and followed Led me to the same location Every act I've forsake and borrowed A delivery to now And I've never wondered how I came to be I came to be I feel free like you promised I’d be Free, I feel free like you promised I’d be Free, I feel free like you promised I’d be Free, I feel free like you promised I’d be

This album, especially this song, really resonates now...

these guys execute their songs perfectly live. alot of the times live versions just sound plain worse but every live performance by parquet courts just seems like the album version but something about it is just better.
@chrisanderson69366 жыл бұрын
I agree, but part of that is also that most of their live stuff on youtube is high-quality live; well-mixed and recorded. Hard to get a real feel for a band from a phone video tbh

Just saw em a few days ago, I swear every song live was better than the recording.

Jealous, sucks the only venues in Canada they'll be hitting are on the west coast

Jackson Page Thank you! The song makes a lot more sense now. Where did you come across this information? Or did you just figure it out?
@jacksonpage15806 жыл бұрын
I knew the song was about growing up in hard times so I sort of just assumed it. Like you said, the lyrics make a lot of sense with that perception. Looking it up now, there actually is an interview with The Independent where he confirms it specifically. This comment might get caught in the spam filter if I link it, but it should be easy to find if you look it up
