I have lived in Utah in the Salt Lake County for the last 46 years and I remember that 400 South bridge coming down around 400 West near that Pioneer Park right across the street from the Big D Construction building there. They shortened the bridge not too long after that as they pulled out the train lines there for the Union Pacific and the Rio Grande station that you were standing in front of since they no longer used them for passenger lines. The shorter bridge that remains there is still used for leaving Salt Lake and getting on I-15 Southbound if you are carpooling. The bridge also goes over the active Union Pacific lines there. Great video Adam!

Grew up in SLC and absolutely loved it. Me and my friends ran up and down that town and had unbelievable experiences that no one would believe. I know each and every one of those locations and you did a great job on the video. I have left SLC but I miss it immensely. I had so much fun growing up there. Thank you for visiting my home town!

Here’s a few for this trip or next that would be great for filming: Frightmares at Lagoon Nightmare on 13th Fear Factory (again) Quarters Arcade (downtown) Halloween 4 and 5 filming locations Snowbird Ski Resort Tram Park City Main Street Tamarind (best Pho downtown) Have fun man, excited to see where you go!

I found this film by accident, via the soundtrack! Years ago, was in a deep dive to make a mixed CD - trying to find some obscure Ska-Punk, and stumbled across a link in an old mIRC #music chat room. Enjoyed the OST, and found the film to watch and was pleasantly surprised at the enjoyable music featured in it. To me, it's worth playing the movie JUST to hear the music! Thanks for this trip and match-up footage, AtW! And say hi to Sister Woo from us out here in Woo-ville!

That old mill used to actually be a mill & then they used it for a Haunted House for awhile. That was the first Haunted House I went to, I was 9. Also that mall was a pretty hoppin mall, it was called Cottonwood Mall, it was my Mall. The escalators were in the center of the mall. I grew up in Cottonwood Heights, the area you were just in by the Old Mill. Salt Lake is pretty hip for filming locations.

Oh yeah, when I was a punk rocker in SLC back in the mid 80’s, the Old Mill, right around 25:56, was actually a dance/concert/haunted house venue. Went slam dancing there many times. You were actually in my neighborhood, I still live pretty close.

Cool video, I was on the streets downtown back around the time this movie was filmed, so I always watch it just to have a look back. I've been gone for so long that it's nice to see some of my old haunts as they look today, especially the Rio Grande area. Of note, the building across the street from the apartments is the homeless health clinic. I used to sleep under the ramp there in the winter. Strange not to see it, and that dark red building you show nearby used to (might still) house a recording studio. On the weekends, a couple bands would practice there and allowed an audience, so it was a really cool part of the music scene back in the late 90's. Trish's shop was, I believe, a flower shop at the time. After, that strip of buildings were high end boutiques with The Tavernacle on one end and Cheri's Deli on the other. Interestingly also to note, around the corner from there on 300 E next to Gourmadise is Smith Apartments, which was where the exterior shots of Harry's apartment in Dumb and Dumber was shot. The interior shots, however, were at that same Big D Construction building in SLC Punk! Head up further on 300 E towards 100 S and you will find the apartment (interior and exterior) in 127 Hours. I know because Danny Boyle and I got in a shouting match on the stairs on the building because I walked through set during filming.

Watched this movie just so I could enjoy your vlog! I loved it! The Sean character reminded me of my late son. So, it was a kind of depressing film, but very entertaining. A friend of mine lives in SLC, Leslie Stratton, and she actually knew the actress who played Sean's mother, Mary. Said she was cool. She's seen it multiple times like you. I'm a newbie. xo

Oh ATW! Glad you stayed in the safe area of the Rio Grande and around that area. Memory Grove use to have a road that went right through it. Then the weird tornado destroyed it, and the road was never rebuilt. Glad to see it all the places I once went to. Parking and construction have kept me away for many years. Thank you for taking me back! ❤
@bakende11032 жыл бұрын
No, the tornado didn't destroy it. It's still there and it has just always been blocked off to traffic. The old horse and carriage rides (no longer in service) used to go up there and then turn around. The tornado really gutted the beauty of that place, it was so much more lush, but it didn't destroy the road.

That was the Cottonwood Mall. The closed JC Penny’s is the only building standing. The Old Mill. Really nothing has changed. Been in pretty much the same condition from my childhood. Originally a Paper Mill. Famous with my generation (1970’s) as a yearly haunted house. One of two haunted houses I’ve ever been in. The Old Mill was the best.

I was in the SLC punk scene in the mid 80's. Amazing times! The movie is a classic, and a fairly accurate depiction. Great scene tour, Woo. But I'm surprised there's no mention of the red brick building (shown around minute 3:00 of this video) being an integral part of 'ground zero' of the SLC punk scene. That building housed a punk record shop upstairs called Raunch Records, and a bohemian coffee shop below called the Painted Word, with live music in the back that hosted some local bands, and served as a type of 'off Broadway' to the main punk venue two blocks away (505 W 500 S) called the Speedway Cafe, hosting legendary bands such as Black Flag, Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies, The Cramps, etc.

In the shots that show the dry cleaner you can also see the wells fargo building behind them in the distance. It went up in 96 and is pretty distinct, so second clue to the location. Also some of the interior mall shots were in the Zion mall (in addition to the Cottonwood Mall) which is where City Creek is now, over by the temple.
