If you charge someone with identity theft, that's one of the first things they will check. Having possession of ID is not the same as being verified as the actual owner of that ID. That's pretty much what ID theft and the theme of this story is all about.

You’re forgetting the way they obtained and tested the fingerprints were less than legal. If it was brought up in court, it wouldn’t be admissible as evidence, and would only clue “Cody” in onto things he didn’t want her to know.

First let me say I LOVE THE NARRATION......that out of the way.....this story is about a guy who pulled a Pinocchio and brought a mannequin to life and now that mannequin is running from her creator by using a kid as a doorway?! Sorry, this story is horrible. I mean absolutely terrible. If I had read this, I'd have been upset I wasted my time. The saving grace is the absolutely AMAZING narration. But this story is horrible.

I've worked in a hospice for dementia patients for a year as well, and this story was too reminding me of the patients there. It's made me realize how intricate our brains really are, working there. I also always found fascinating how sometimes thing change day to day, like they had good days and bad days where they could or couldn't remember their family members, or form sentences. We had a patient with her dementia quite advanced, she wasn't really able to speak much anymore, and most of the time didn't know what was going on. But she loved music, and she would sit infront of the CD player a lot, and sing every word to a song perfectly. It's quite fascinating how that works. sorry for going on a tangent, I absolutely loved working with our patients back then, it is very hard but very rewarding work. Especially when you can make some time to spend with them one on one, but that's sadly getting rarer as time goes on. have a good day :)

@JollyRanchersGrandma
@JollyRanchersGrandma 2 ай бұрын
@MissDraiha it takes place inside the "game" but it's less of a game and more of an alternate universe that's trying to kill them. I'd absolutely recommend it not for the game aspect but for the character development and conflicts most of which happen within the group. Most of the story isn't even about which turn they're taking its about what they're seeing on the road and unraveling the mystery as to what this reality truly is. I'm not a fan of "this game has rules and if you dont follow you die" but I make an exception for the Left Right game because I forgot it was in that genre half way in.

Everyone handles things uniquely. You really don’t know how you’d react unless you had to go through it yourself (and hopefully you never have to be in that spot.) Many people deal with pain/loss by trying to focus heavily on other things. Sometimes it seems easier to just try to get passed it/not talk about it/ etc. It can come across to others as they’re being insensitive or heartless, but that’s rarely ever the case. Everyone deals with immense pain like that in a different way. It’s not really fair to judge someone like this, we’re simply not in their shoes.

Oh the ending reveals this story is connected to the maniquine that comes to life in the little girls room and eventually takes over so they are trapped in the house, which is also related the story of the hvac guy who has a strange job putting in duct work at the same house (seems abandoned) where he finds lots of strange items related to his life and many tragedies (anyone he befriends meets a grisly end)... When he gets spooked and runs away the house burns down. All part of the blue sunflower universe

Loved it right til the end. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that a man previously on the police records for a violent "psychotic break" would be able to just call in his kid as being missing - even if backed up by his wife. Which is going to sound more plausible to the police? An imposter impersonates someone and steals their child, or a traumatised spouse in poor physical condition (water in lungs / whatever other after affects she was hospitalised for) covers for a potentially harmful or abusive partner out of fear?

I like this one. At first when I heard this I thought she might be a witch, but instead she’s just an avatar of an old legendary figure made by a man of dark magic. What I can guess is that she had entered a domain for all creatures and eldritch beings like herself to survive; A world where they hunt. I think there’s more eldritch beings than just her. There might be more made from dark magic or even worse; created from the forms of a galactic creativity. Keep up with the narrations! You’re nailing it.

My dad jokingly said something about mirror monsters and I guess my head made up all this lore where I’d be sucked into the mirror and replaced by a monster. Idk what the monster was gonna do, but I don’t think it was gonna kill because my little brain was more concerned about my real parents getting sucked into the mirror and I’d be living with strangers in my parents bodies. I totally forgot about that fear until now. It seems silly looking back at it, but my imagination was vivid because I remember imagining what it would feel like being sucked into the mirror world.

Started off really strong, like really really strong. I was super engaged in the mystery and on the edge of my seat waiting for the doppelgänger to do something. That being said, the ending was such a let down. Man, I didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t an overly contrived and poorly explained eldritch/cosmic horror ending. You could also tell that the author isn’t a parent. I mean, Evan felt like a prop the entire story and the husband for sure cared more about his wife the entire time, which just isn’t the case with real dads. Just an overly dramatic “I saved my wife in the water tree” followed immediately by “oh yeah and our son is gone, we are gonna move and start over to save our relationship”.
@Anastasia-fj2xu

completely agree. I was so invested in the story and the mystery part of it up until the scene in the room happened and it completely took me out of it. just felt like someone took a thriller novel, ripped off the last few chapters and glued a chunk of a dark fantasy novel to it to fill in the space

Thank you! Exactly the same. I’ve come VERY close to losing my child and the idea that I would be able to forgive my husband for fannying about and being so self-obsessed. Wouldn’t matter that I’d “dreamed it” My suggested edit would be that he and the simulacrum conceive a child (and ofc she has a super quick pregnancy and it could be a big dream sequence) and then she uses said infant - that way you could at least believe his real wife would be so “it’s alright love, let’s just start again!”

That a common issue with a lot of these 'reddit' horror stories. They start off strong due to the author having a good prompt/idea/premise but then they run out of ideas and have no idea how to finish it, so they resort to pulling wacky shit out of nowhere. Creepiness always works better if you keep it somewhat grounded in reality. The moment you have a character suddenly turn into an eldrich monster who does a lore-dump monologuewhile opening portals or some shit you've officially lost me. I can no longer suspend disbelief and you've removed all creepiness by straight up reminding me that it is all fictional.
