Its amazing. At the time I didnt really like S1+2 of Enterprise but compared to any Trek since 2005 its a masterpiece. Unless something drastic happens I doubt we'll see such writing in Trek again.

@@RezValla Me, for one, I always liked Enterprise. It is my favorite Trek after TOS. I will admit that it took a while for my favorite characters to grow on me: Trip, Tpol and Flox But when they did, I absolutely loved the series. I was never a big fan of TNG, although I watched it off and on and went to all of the movies. I gave Discovery almost 2 years -- I never grew to like anything about it. In fact, I grew to despise it.

I always like Enterprise, I even bought the strangely shaped DVD box sets of it. It’s a shame it only had 4 seasons and was the point that I realised that TV / movies I would want don’t have mass appeal. So just happy to have had what I have. Like others have said I don’t even consider new trek post STE Star Trek. It’s someone else’s interpretation on the genre. One I don’t like

Trip and T'pol's relationship becomes the heart of the entire show. When they hold hands at the end of season 4 (forget the final-final episode, it's not real) while mourning their daughter it's an amazing contrast to their first meeting when T'pol wouldnt even shake Trip's hand. Enterprise in so many ways proved to be a show about people from different worlds finding themselves in situations where they needed to trust each other to achieve a common good and I think the show, for all of the issues in the first two seasons, really stuck the landing on that theme in seasons 3 and 4. Trip and T'pol forever ❤

What's nicer is in the books they eventually have a family. They bring back Trip and he works undercover for Starfleet Intelligence during the first war with the Romulans, and the book series ends with a flash forward to T'Pol with several children on Vulcan, and there is an elderly human male with them revealed to be Trip.

Enterprise could have been something really special. With more support, money and time it could have been absolutely amazing. It was still really good and I frequently find myself watching my favorite episodes. Additional thoughts edit- With more money and effort the space battles could have gone from really good to properly great. Also the cast selection, acting never disappointed me. I love the idea of the MACOs and Earth torn between peaceful exploration and still wanting to be warlike. Lastly I have zero issues in the established lore of Phase Cannons, Hull plating etc.

Damage has one of my favorite moments. The aliens have refused to trade and archer is contemplating in his dark quarters. Phlox makes a report. Archer stands up and steps into the dark. "How long have you been a doctor?" 'Nearly forty years' "In your time as a doctor, have you ever had to do something you felt was unethical?" Phlox steps forward joining him in the dark. 'Twice... why?' "I'm about to cross a line I never thought I would. And given the nature of our mission, it probably won't be the last time" 'Probably not. May I ask what you're planning to do?' "There could be casulties" 'I'll be ready'

I wasn't a huge fan of Enterprise when it first started, but gave it a second chance once I heard that they were going to do a Babylon 5 like season long story arc; and I'm glad that I did! Season 4 will always be my favorite, but the Xindi arc was fantastic and made me wish that we had gotten that season long Year Of Hell arc that was originally planned for Voyager. Interesting fact about Carpenter Street: I remember reading an interview about star Jeffery Dean Morgan and he apparently HATED working on that episode so much that he almost quit acting all together because of it.

One relationship I absolutely loved in this season was the rivalry between Reed and Hayes. Having two military minded officers butting heads throughout the season only to gain a mutual respect for eachother is great to watch, not to mention Hayes death being one of the most heartbreaking ones of the entire season, if not the entire show. Also, the two episodes with Commander Shran are of course amazing, though he's one of my favourite characters in the entire series so I may be a bit biased.

1:40 I get why that may have been a concern at the beginning of the season, but not once it had all aired. The expanse was a region of space characterized by the weird effects caused by the spheres, and those were dealt with by the end. It seemed perfectly plausible that in a hundred years or so, no one would bother with continuing to call it "the former Delphic Expanse".

I really liked seasons 1 & 2, but the finale of season 2 and all of seasons 3 & 4 were bangers. Great show. I skipped _These Are the Voyages_ as I hated that Enterprise was relegated to a holodeck program, instead considering _Terra Prime_ to be the true Enterprise finale. I thought that it works well for that purpose and leaves it open so that I can imagine the crew of Enterprise still doing their thing with T'Pol and Trip developing their relationship more.

I really liked Season 3, in a certain sense even more than season 4 to be honest. It was a ongoing quest to a certain goal and a mystery to uncover that made it so adventureous and interesting to me. It's like the series went into adulthood, after the mixed quality season one and two. In some way, i wish they had gone that part even further and had the series detached from the main timelin of Star Trek as we know it. Sure Archer did some questionable decision, which Picard had never made, but he didn't have the experience and luxury to be as morally lofty. I really wish they had seperated both timelines and contined the Enterprise Timeline and give Star Trek a new face. (get rid of the morally "ambiguous" Prime directive. Get rid of Transporter Tech (It kills the user). No Replicator technology (too powerful). Give stellar politics a different dynamic (Maybe no all powerful federation).) I guess the american audience back then only saw the 9/11 connections, while the rest of the world saw a interesting adventure plot. We saw Archer struggle and make hard decisions, which was great and i wish we had seen more like this.

I loved Enterprise the first time around. I didn’t think I was going to, but the first season was, I thought, generally good. The second season not so much. Season 3 was great, but I really have to be in the mood to re-watch it. And (controversial I know) season 4 was where they hit their stride and it’s a crying shame the show was cancelled and we got “tHeSe aRe tHe VoyAgEs” as the finale 🤪 I just wish they’d left the NX-01 out of PIC s3, since they’re clearly in an alternate quantum reality in ENT compared to TOS. The interiors of the ship looked ok but the outside (despite the fact that I like the NX-01 design) never really looked like a retrograde step from the Constitution class to me. Anyway, yes, ENT has always been great (in parts)

I always found Enterprise to be my favorite Star Trek. There's real character evolution happening over the course of those four years - Archer started as a wide-eyed captain, was really turned inside-out by the grueling events of the Xindi story, and by season 4's end he became more hopeful as the local spacefaring races ceased hostility and allied together, effecting real change thanks to him. T'pol's constantly looking down her nose on the human crew at first and loosening up as time goes on, becoming a solid cornerstone of the team, was great to see (although I would have liked her to wear Vulcan robes rather than catsuits). Most of the main cast went through a lot of development (other than poor Mayweather), and Season 3 was a huge contributor of that development. I think one of the greatest robberies foisted upon mankind is the fact that we never saw a Season 5 where Captain Shran joined the crew. Damn, that would have been epic.

I love Enterprise, my favorite series! Enterprise (especially season 3) was how I wished Voyager was, a ship on its own making do with what they have. Was always surprised that people hated it at the time. Been itching to rewatch it and this video might have been the push to do so.

You won't regret it. I re-watched the whole series during lockdown & thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually hadn't seen many of the episodes because when it was on TV in the UK it just disappeared.

I have to say, I enjoyed Enterprise more than Voyager. The overall tone was grittier. Trip and Phlox are two of my favourite Star Trek characters ever.

I recently watched the entire series for the first time. I've always been a Star Trek fan but never bothered to pay much attention to this particular series. I've seen all the other Trek shows but just never got around to this one until a few weeks ago. When I finished watching it, I couldn't believe that I overlooked it all these years. I'm 53 and it took me this long to realize that this series is one of my favorites, just behind TNG with my favorite being the original series. After finishing the series, I found a KZbin show called 'Shuttlepod' hosted by Connor Trinear and Dominic Keating from Enterprise and it is very good. They interview members of the show as well as other Star Trek series', as well as interviewing each other. It's definitely worth watching and gives a lot of insight on Enterprise as a series and how they all felt about being part of it. Great video here, Dave! Thank you.

I felt that season 3 was very good. It had the same arc structure as DS9. Plus it felt realistic story telling as the ship stayed damaged throughout multiple episodes unlike in Voyager where there was the reset button at the end of the episode. Just wished Enterprise had more seasons

As far as I'm concerned, if ENT had gotten another 1 or 2 seasons of the same quality as 3+4 were, it would have been hands down my favorite star trek series, including the theme song. As it stands, DS9 takes that spot because of how much world building and deep character development it gave us. Special love for TOS though.

I absolutely love Enterprise! It was disappointing to me when they tweaked the main theme song in the (best season ever) 3rd season because I loved the original opening theme. I honestly don’t know where any of the hate comes in, it’s mama totally underrated and terrific show.

‘Stratagem’ is a brilliant episode. But I remember the original Mission Impossible TV series where they did this sort of stuff quite a lot. Great homage though!

Enterprise was my introduction to Star Trek absolutely loved it. It opened me up to Star Trek as a whole. A lot of people gave me crap for liking Enterprise when it was airing. Glad to see it nowadays get a more positive view by many.

I loved Enterprise. I've watched the box set at least 3 times including once with the commentary sound tracks. They were really careful about the Trek timeline and even explained why Klingons looked different in TOS. I really appreciated the writing, acting, overall production.

Because of your reviews, my wife and I decided to give Enterprise a shot recently. We quickly realized two things once season 3 got underway: the writing was much better, and they sucked the life out of an already uninspired theme song.

Another outstanding review Dave. I agree that it's one of the best overall seasons of Trek in general. Very well put together. Writing was sensible, acting was great, pace of the show was on point and the fact that the Enterprise gets an absolute pounding towards the end of the season and keeps on going.

Enterprise is such a great Trek show, I think too many people just had franchise fatigue at this point. The Cogenitor episode not only one of the best ever Trek episodes but is very relevant today. Thanks for helping expose this excellent show to more people!

I do agree that Season 3 of Enterprise was a bit controversial in being completely serialized. It's more forgivable today because you can just binge-watch it, and even then, it still delivers the story far better when compared to the depressing STD and Picard's "To be continued" franchise. And yes, Season 4 (with the exception of the series finale) is amazing for Enterprise. At least Season 3 of Picard does give a nod that the NX-01 did get its deflector dish.

YES Dave! Enterprise Season 3 is one of the best things about all of Star Trek! Stratagem and Azati Prime are amongst my favourite episodes. Serialisation done right. Although it would’ve made more sense that the initial attack was a failed one…

Once upon a time, being the IP holder gave absolute power over a franchise. That day is done. If the IP holder insists on not bringing out new content or bringing out garbage content, we can now make our own. I invite all my fellow Trekkers to enjoy another unauthorized novel completely free. Just google Star Trek Lost Destiny Race.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. This season is my favorite. Ive never seen Archer so intense…almost desperate. Enterprise when it first aired was vanilla to me. So-so. Didn’t make it to 7 seasons. After viewing a bit of Discovery, Picard seasons1 and 2, and now SNW, the bar is so low now, that Enterprise looks like a fantastic show compared to them. Its kinda my new favorite. Its better than I remember, and its because of season 3 that I got back into it.

Season 3 of Enterprise definitely reset the shows tone and I personally go back and forth with weather I like it or not. I wished they would have introduced the Xindi like DS9 introduced the Dominion, subtly and ominously. But sadly such things are rare with all shows these days, Discovery very much included. Thanks for the review!
