Skunk Anansie, yeah! There is a band that deserves A LOT more exposure. Skin is such an amazing vocalist that Luciano Pavarotti (allegedly the greatest operatic tenor of all times) invited the band for his Pavarotti and friends crossover concert back in the day: frankly she dwarfed him with her talent. WEAK is another great tune from them.

It's a good day that someone request Skunk Anansie, an underrated group, they have many strong rock song in their album, but offcourse 'twisted' is one of the big hits, including 'Hedonism' which is my personal favourite

A fantastic song, by a brilliant under rated band. Skin has amazing vocals. And they are fantastic live. They should have been massive. And that must have been one of the quickest decisions you ever made on rating a song - great review.

They were quite popular and played regularly on MTV. I think they were appreciated just enough.

One of my absolute favourite bands from the 90's, Skin has a fabulous voice that many a man can't beat. They never really made it in the US but were everywhere here in the UK. I was with friends in London and Skin exited a car outside a nightclub, one our friends ran towards her screaming her name, proceeded to trip and fall and landed on her face at Skins' feet. Our friends ego was also badly bruised, obviously we all remoreslessly teased her about her 'superfan' efforts. The irony was that she lost some skin to find Skin.

It's great to see a Skunk Anansie song on the channel. This song was on the album Stoosh which was out in the mid 90's when i was a teenager and i remember the anticipation in some of my friends for their follow up album Post Orgsmic Chill. I saw them twice, once in Liverpool with support for a new band called Muse who were a few months out from releasing their debut album, and once headlining the main stage (not a Pyramid that year) at Glastonbury 1999, with Skin becoming the first black artist to headline the festival (sadly the live footage on youtube from there isn't the greatest quality). The band split and reformed, Skin also had a solo career, and somewhere in there also sang at Nelson Mandela's birthday on stage with Michael Jackson and Nina Simone. That soft sweet voice becoming a screaming powerful roar is kind of her thing. I hope a few more appearances occur on the channel - Weak, Hedonism, Charlie Big Potato, maybe one of the Jools Holland live performances (We don't need who you think you are (powerful), You'll follow me down (softer). I have to admit, I'm not really familiar with their stuff after they reformed, but they were huge in my teenage years. Sadly I don't remember any car companies picking their songs up for advertising though.

Definitely the poppiest of their songs , Skunk Anansie were one of the best British bands of the 90's and as others have mentioned, criminally underrated. I hope you try some more of their tunes , Charlie Big Potato is my favourite although the subject matter is more than a little dark , Skin has the most amazing vocal range I think I've ever heard.

I have desperately been looking for some Skunk Anansie reactions as Skin is a favorite female vocalist of mine and I was feeling nostalgic. They are so underrated and the recs of "Secretly" and "Charlie Big Potato" and other tracks by them are definitely agreed to by me for more of Skin's range but imo all Skunk Anansie out there is worth at least one listen.

Skunk Anansie are a very underated band, they had some success in the 90s with some fantastic songs, personal favourites are Weak, Hedonism (just beacause it feels good), Brazen (Weep) and I can dream. They were great live as well

Also in their day to have someone like Skin sing a song titled little baby swastika was out there. They were guaranteed to get people jumping. Hedonism is another earworm song from Skunk Anansie

To be honest this is probably their most commercial song for radio. Their darker and more aggressive stuff is far superior and even their ballads. How they are able to combine their nu-metal songs with mid tempo rock and their ballads to be on one album always hits me in the feels.

You need to react to 'Secretly' and 'Charlie big potato' if you want to hear her true potential. Skunk Anansie is still one of my favorites.

This is interesting, they really were very popular in the 90s. Never exactly my go-to music, but they definitely had some good songs back then. Especially this one, which is now again stuck in my head 25 years later 🙂

Skunk Anansie... My first encounter with them was their song "Selling Jesus" from the movie Strange Days. I didn't follow up with the group more, but that song went hard and definitely caught my attention. Will have to go back and dig a little deeper with them now.

I Can Dream and Weak are their best songs imo. Not that heavy but a great voice. In the mid 90s they attracted more interest with the metal crowd than those into britpop scene. They were probably quite a heavy sounding band live. The first two or three albums are probably their best output.. *goes back to listening to Slayer*

Mine is the first song I heard from them called "I can Dream" from the same album as "Selling Jesus". Also, Skunk Anansie appeared on the movie "Strange Days" (1996) directed by Kathryn Bigelow starring Ralph Fiennes, and they sang the song "Selling Jesus" in it.
