A simple reply would have been - If I'm taxed an extra 20% on lets say $100,000, That's 20K less that I have to spend. Period. The logical reply is "nono, put that 20k into your business, employees, etc" but if I spend 20K on whatever, that doesn't reduce my tax burden by 20K, it reduces it by less 20K multiplied by the tax bracket I'm in. Often 'high tax' people shoot for 50%+ Taxes, which means I have to spend 20K to save 10K. But I'm still losing 10K, and if I am not in the position to lose the 10K then it doesn't happen. The opposite of that is much easier to get excited about. Let's say I was at a 50% tax rate, but now its 30% because of a rule change. Hurray, I just got an extra 20K (assuming 100K as an easy number) for this year's cashflow. With that I can choose to higher a new employee to (hopefully) boost my future revenues and get some return on that, I can invest in my business infrastructure, or I can be a selfish capitalist and buy a pool/car/vacation/whatever which puts money back in the economy more generally. Also, if I have more 'left over' money, I have a higher chance of giving more to charity or invest in the stock market. Taxes can't be zero and I understand we have to fund the government to protect us, pay cops, build roads, etc; but punitively high taxes on small to mid-size businesses make absolutely no sense to anyone who thinks through to the end of the conversation.
@emhockey103 жыл бұрын
@@amcc8188 my fiancé owns a bakery and I can confirm that taxes prohibit the growth of her business. It’s really sad. People who don’t own small businesses or are not putting employees on payroll just don’t understand how burdensome it is. Taxes that go toward the essentials you mentioned - infrastructure, police, military, etc. - are fine. The federal govt could easily fund those projects with a fraction of the tax revenue they currently earn. Instead, our leaders in Washington think our money belongs to them, and they waste it on garbage programs with absurdly high levels of waste that DO NOT BENEFIT US. Every one of those dollars represents the TIME and SWEAT of my fiancé who works her hands to the bone doing 16 hour days. She makes a conscious decision to sacrifice the most precious resource available to her - her time on this earth - so that one day we will have the things we want in life. Our politicians do not have respect for people like my girlfriend. If they did, they would ask much less of her, allow her to flourish, and treat every dollar she does contribute like the individual sacrifice that it represents. THIS is how America should be - limited government and affluence to all who value hard work and the freedom to earn a living unmolested. Rogan is more left wing than right wing, if you go down the list of the 30 most important policy decisions that affect the largest number of people in the USA. It's gets confusing trying to gauge him, because he likes to agree with his guest more often than he he really should. He doesn't push back on what his guests say, like he does in these clips, nearly often enough. And he has a clear inability to retain new information, if that information is highly complex and multi faceted in nature, which also usually happens to inform a left wing point of view on a given topic.... He is also very susceptible to "feeling over facts", which the right Wingers live their entire existence by. And so, if Rogan has been talking to right wingers in a recent given period of time, his rhetoric will skew that way. Hard. He should really do a political compass test on his podcast. He would skew left and piss off some righties, but he would also piss of a small vocal minority on the Left as well. Rogan is at his most left wing. when a good left wing guest is on his show. I used to be a huge Rogan fan. (edit: still a fan) Mostly for the comedy and mind-bending experiences shared by comedians, fighters, and scientists. But now he is like Bill Maher and has resentment for the left. He stated that he moved from California to escape progressive taxes benefiting the homeless and the woke agenda. He also said white people will soon not be allowed to leave their homes or speak because of "woke" militias. Meanwhile, he has on guests that support rolling back civil rights like voting and socioeconomic equality. Regardless of the excuses we make for Rogan (he's just misinformed, he would have voted for Bernie , or he's just hosting), the problem is that he doesn't push back nearly often enough to terrible ideas. Only when they personally offend him, or the racism/fascism is too blatant to ignore. Rogan can give a great interview with nuance and context sometimes,, but then drops the ball when it matters most. To have a platform that large and say white men are being silenced, or say "I don't know much about anything, but I know white people are the most opressed" is not only disappointing, but dangerous to all of the January 6th reactionaries. He is basically saying, "I'm an idiot meathead like you at home, and even I can see that BLM and Antifa are coming g for us white poeple!" He emboldens the ignorant and uninformed. He makes lazy people feel driven. He makes dumb people feel smart. He is the gateway into the right wing for normies, and possibly a gateway into the right center if you are far right. He asks just enough questions to have his fan base feel intellectually curious.

It's very sad when "conservative" man-children like Ben Shapiro use "comic book villains" as argument points regarding their political leanings. If he actually picked up a comic book and read about the motivations of the original Thanos, he would have known that the reason Thanos divided the population of the universe in half was so that he could impress his potential girlfriend, Death! Making it sound like Thanos was doing the general population a favor by reducing their numbers and slowing down their resource consumption was a character inconsistency that no-nothings like Shapiro thrive on when they're debating "the left." @robertradford47073 жыл бұрын
There's a major flaw in her argument that what illegal immigrants bring to the table that makes them a more ideal candidate in a free market isn't being bilingual nearly as much as being accepting of below minimum wage pay. Companies that employ them can save a lot of time and effort on filing to enroll them as an employee, and can pay them lesser wages because none of it will be taxed and they have lower standards then those that grew up here. The conversation at that point was specifically drilling in on the fact that people in poor inner city neighborhoods, which are by and large democrats, want to slow the rate of illegal immigration because it's hurting them. The jobs most people there get into are unskilled labor positions or apprenticeship based jobs if they're close to someone that will take the time to teach them, and illegal immigrants are very capable of also doing those jobs for less money. Not every company is willing to take the risk of employing an illegal immigrant but a sizable enough percentage are that it creates a palpable effect on employment opportunities for people that are already "disenfranchised" and lacking opportunities. If you watch that debate at length instead of just the clipped section it went very poorly for Ana, they should have chosen a better clip there.
@mikeonthebayou2 жыл бұрын
@@robertradford4707 the problem is that you’re basing this on the false premise that Coulter brought up about illegal immigration. Because of their proximity to a Spanish speaking region of the world it would make sense to want people to be able to speak the language.
