Chomsky is surprisingly easy to interview. Not only does he respond to Joe Public regularly by email, you can find him doing interviews with everyone from top journalists (like David! hh) to random podcasters all the time. There are interviews out there with various 'unknowns' who have shot him an email and he responded. He also speaks regularly to quite extreme characters on the right. Don't forget, he did an interview with Alex Jones (2007) and even Stefan Molyneux (c. 2014). Chomsky is a true public intellectual who will speak to almost anyone.

@@sharathsh9987 Why not? With Jones it was in 2007, when he was not on everyone's radar (he was extreme, but he hid it by being against 'both sides'), and with Molyneux he made him look like a bit of a tool. Chomsky is very much an old-school activist who engages and debates his opponents. Today's progressives are often too scared of 'platforming' people, which is not obviously a better approach, in my opinion.

If an engineer designs a bridge that collapses he is discredited. A guy like Chomsky promotes a theory that has failed time and time again, yet people still listen to him. Go ask people in Venezuela how they feel about him and his buddy Hugo Chavez? I'm sure he means well, but his philosophies have failed and have destroyed millions of lives and killed millions of people. Yet he's somehow hailed as some kind of a humanitarian? There was a time when guys like Chomsky were on air all the time. But then the “Crossfire” model took hold, where the right and the farther right argued minutiae and pretended it was vibrant debate. Fox News and hate radio have been immensely successful moving the Overton window to the point where a not insignificant minority of people believe that center left is “communism” and the middle exists between the corporatist right hand open fascism.

This was a very good analysis of the republican party. As a chemical engineer I can't agree more on his climate change statement. Here in Europe it's more like a fact, and parties debate on how to handle it - some prioritize it higher than others. It's really insane that republicans are straight out denying its existence. I completely agree that another 4 years of Trump would for sure set us in an irreversible state in terms of the composition of the atmosphere and ocean acidity levels.

This dude was I grieve introduced to me either in communication theory or one of my communication based courses. This is pretty rad dude. I also love that Chomsky brings up the southern strategy, one of the most blatant campaigns on gaining a specific demographic. Yet, the majority of fox news seems to forget to mention that when discussing about their Grand old party.
