Politics and Prose

7 жыл бұрын

In his detailed account of Donald Trump’s astonishing political success, Johnston, an award-winning New York Times investigative journalist and currently a columnist for USA Today, looks closely at Trump’s business practices, his associates, and his family background. Johnston sheds light on many of Trump’s beliefs, delving into his father’s Ku Klux Klan involvement and into Trump’s own ties with organized crime, as well as laying out how Trump has actually managed real estate, run casinos, and experienced numerous bankruptcies even while amassing huge wealth.

It's absolutely astounding how prescient David Cay Johnston has been about (3x5)3** since at least 2016, before the presidential elections. The trouble is that the voters did not care to listen or didn't care if what he was saying was true. Voting is not limited to the intelligent and reasonably well-informed in America. This of course, is not at all new. Thanks Mr. Johnston, your brilliance and ability to present fascinating, true stories is a gift, even if many who should, don't listen or hear you.

It also includes all members of the media who are entirely hostile towards Trump and his family and friends. People like this journalist are doing nothing more than slandering Trump and he is making money off of it. That is what that jackass, Glenn Simpson, did by crafting a dossier of lies that has been exposed as a hoax. I HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF SLANDER! I f*cking hate people who spread lies about other people! These journalists and their supporters, like the female introducing him, have adopted an attitude that they are elitists and everyone else in America who doesn't think the same way is either racist, xenophobic, chauvenistic, etc. The media in this country has FAR too much power and they need to start being held accountible.

Our only hope is that tRump (deservedly) lands in prison for the rest of his life and gets permanently gagged. As long as he's alive and free, he poses a clear and present danger to society and the country.

"Its hard to win an argument with a smart person, its impossible to win an argument with a stupid person." Bill Murray This describes how cemented the Faithful are in their beliefs and won over by conservatives for their gullibility. They substitute Faith at the expense of Reality. Faith licenses them to believe what and however their base ambitions and instincts instruct . Then they defend them with a repulsive "self righteousness" that they were instructed was theirs to wield.

The mental gymnastics done by far right Christians is worthy of study both by religious leaders and psychologists. Donald Trump has been found to lie on matters great and small on a regular basis. Fact checkers have documented over 1000 falsehoods told by Trump since he was elected to office. He has had many extramarital affairs. He is cruel and espouses a policy of maximum cruelty at our southern border. Separating babies and young children from their parents and then instructing their guards to withhold any kindness or compassion from these children will solve nothing. Instead it will cause deep and lasting psychological damage to innocent children. This is not the United States our fathers and grandfathers fought for during two world wars. When did the American people start to accept policies that are in essence nothing less than child abuse? I am not religious but I have studied the major religions. What sort of god asks followers to hurt or doing lasting harm to innocent children?

The condescending robotic style attacks, like those here, are only a testament to those making the attacks. Claiming the high road by claiming others do the same for their belief in God, as stated, “the Faithful”, is some kind of bad characteristic. After being raised by a liberal, and witnessing these mind gymnastics throughout my childhood. The victim claims, vilification of those with different views, etc, I realised, I could not be a participant in the bullying, twisting of facts, and justifications of cruel acts, like killing babies, by liberal progressives. I’m not religious, I just have a moral standard that liberal style group think, does not meet. The vile attacks this speaker makes, by assuming he knows another’s thoughts and feelings, is a standard in this wicked manner of thinking and acts. I left the Democrat Party. I claim no party. I claim no religion. I do claim rights to and pursuit of truth and justice. None of which can be found within the speaker and his supporters.

I totally agreed on what you said. In my view, these issues are related to immigrants who came here ambitiously or very hungry, and look for only money or only intended to climb success ladder, it does not matter they came from either poor or rich family. Then, some are going up, some are going down, etc and so on, but anyway, those whole stupid entertainments, sports, movie, tv, fake media, fast-foods, fat diets, poor educations, are all full-filled to their mindset to all first generation to 2nd 3rd 4 Th. Generations..And losing critical thinking which is most important. And time flies, My point here is for them, there is NO TIME to think of culture, society, and what is the meaning of human being existing. That's what exactly the system want us to be. Just leave stupid. these are In my opinions only, ok. So sad.

Wow, that guy was right about absolutely everything. He knew about trump’s long history of being a huckster & a con artist; and he thought trump could very well win the election due to the racism/xenophobia of white Americans. That was one of the most prescient talks I’ve ever seen anyone give. Well done, DCJ.
@chinogambino9375
@chinogambino9375 4 жыл бұрын
Idiotic take, Trump did not win on racism/xenophobia or any of the other ism bullshit you've internalized like a drone. He ran on the economy, promised to tear up and renegotiate trade deals which had exported the industrial base and its jobs overseas. Whether he was serious or not does not matter, he at least listened and his message was more substantive than "Vote for me I'm a woman" to the left behind class of Americans. In Hillary Clinton all poeple saw was a bloodthirsty career politician enthralled by lobbyist promising to keep the status quo, in other words depressed states and towns can wallow in a ditch forever. Now look at the Democrats, again they rigged the primary again so another career politician enthralled by lobbyist could win. You cannot be angry with Trump for losing.

@Chino Gambino Ha! Trump saw a vulnerable group of people & took advantage of them, like he’s done his entire life. He didn’t bring any industry back to America, he just gave corporations a tax cut that they used to buy back their own stock. And look at the economy now. We’re heading for another depression! So much winning...
@MaRi-zp9zk
@MaRi-zp9zk 2 жыл бұрын
@@chinogambino9375 I agree with a lot of what you said about Hilary, I also believe that most of his voters thought about the economy, and that’s the sick part, the day after the election you could tell that by just how the stocks exchange went, they didn’t care, why? Because they knew he was the same as Clinton when it came to the economy, but with an electoral financing system we have in America we know the inequalities will continue to grow no matter what, wall street knows they are protected. however I disagree when u said he didn’t win because of racism and xenophobia, yes he did, to win the race he had to appeal to racists, that particular base was the one constant throughout his campaigns and administration, because it was calculated, neofascist groups were his base, cause it’s a strategy, I mean just read the 14 characteristics, whether philosophical or practical, he followed that list to the letter, or to the number in this case. He had to do that to win, to grab and empower that group, but I guess the one thing all of his voters agree on is that him adopting that very particular type of government was worth it as long as they got their tax cuts, who cares about anything else.
@MaRi-zp9zk
@MaRi-zp9zk 2 жыл бұрын
@@shanesawyer5103 funny part is that the people who fell for his rhetoric will continue to try and point out how everything going wrong right now is Biden’s fault, take covid, biden has been doing his bit, why is it still destroying the country? Because trump decided to politicize something that in a functional political system normally doesn’t get politicized, and he pushed misinformation about it to try and coverup his lack of leadership on a federal level as it started, and his “fall in line or fall apart” approach he had/has with the republican establishment, the governors that followed him, have now condemned their own voting bases to be unavailable to vote their ballots permanently. It’s so calculated and obvious they don’t even try to hide the fact that republicans strategists have done the calculations and now they are sure, the number of republicans voters who won’t vote gop because they are dead is likely to be enough to swing many races in favor of democrats in this midterms, even if we take into consideration all the gerrymandering and “purified quality of the voters” efforts in passing legislations designed to make it harder for lower and working classes throughout republican led states. Cause I guess needless cultural wars based campaigns are easier than running a campaign focusing on economic policies, we all know sense based platforms are not what big money expects when they pay bribes, i mean when they pay donations for electoral campaigns in America ( this in both parties not just the gop) then there was the assassination of Iran’s soleimani. A move so completely stupid and outrageous, just because he wanted an escalation of tension between both countries, cause trump wanted to push a “bush in Iraq” campaign strategy, I don’t know what’s more funny, if it’s the fact that he did it but right before trump could milk it the pandemic started to unfold, thurs shifting all the emergency attention worldwide, then the fact that Iran completely outsmarted trumps efforts on foreign policy, they knew he wanted a war to win the election, and they didn’t give it to him. All and all, American needs at least another political party, one that is at least center left, cause democrats aren’t even center, they are liberals, they aren’t leftists, you can clearly see this by how cozy they are siding with big money all the time, and they have the audacity to call people like manchin a “moderate” yeah… you know who’s the most moderate politician in America? Probably Bernie… who is only center left on a handful of basic issues, I think that’s how the country will slowly move towards, there’s no reason why people living American today needs to be having such bad lives economically, this is why they need another party, one that can be center left, be a party that works for the working class, class struggles Btw… something that’s been completely destroyed since the 70s… and a party can’t do that if the funding for their campaigns are going to continue the way this has been happening in America, it’s insane, it’s corruption. It’s not run by Americans anymore, it’s international interests well.
