This is EXACTLY 💯 like my personal story... from SRA from age 5-11 then Sexual/Spiritual/& Physical abuse from age 14-21. I've always remembered, but never spoke of it until age 16 when my twin told the truth to her counselor after an attempt to "check out permanently " at age 16. I've TOTALLY BEEN praying that all EVIL would be exposed to the light in the coming years. I don't believe in a lot of the "spiritualism". I'm definitely grounded and grateful for the relationship between my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ!!! 👑✝️❤️🌎🐑☝️🦁💪🏾⚓️🪨🏔🏰🛡🗡📖🙏🛐🎶🙌🧂🕯💧🔥🕊🤟

Money is an illusion - created by humans. We each agree to the rules of this illusion - despite the suffering the story of money brings. We have enough natural and human resources to create housing, food and safety for all human beings. The story of lack, scarcity, ownership is not REAL and reflects a lack of imagination. It is the tragedy of our species…. To date.

I suffered with anxiety for a decade but this year it stopped. The biggest question I’ve had for the past few months was “why?” And now I know why. Everything she speaks of here is truth. Be kind to yourself. Recognise your pain and move closer to what resonates with you. Stop hiding, embrace yourself and then lend others that same kindness.

Wanna talk about it? I've been trying to compel a friend who's 30 to stop lying for about a year now. I find lies don't tend to work on me, so they're most likely to not work for me, and I use various examples of the negative sides. They get really angry when caught in a lie, which is relatively easy (we're talking about two minutes between "this is why that's not true" and the admission and accompanying anger directed at me). Some of the lies seem socially enforced too.

That's really fab, and I'm so happy for you :) I think there are many things which can put us in a kind of mindfulness practice state automatically, even things that, more often, used to be part of everyday life. We are actively discouraged from appreciating their benefits to us, where others can't extract profit from us in relation to them. But it's kind of what she says in this interview, the real thing is right there, we just have to return to it. My examples (but there's a lot more): 1. Fixing or making things - flow state brain holiday, practising resourcefulness, manual dexterity and creativity, happiness over not contributing more to landfill. 2. Cycling - brain holiday with spatial awareness gamification potential, enjoyment of combining physical exercise with free transport. To 1 I have to add that, given the multiple benefits of fixing things, products designed deliberately so they break and can't be fixed could have a massive tax slapped on them, to be invested in reviving repair and maintenance trades, whose tradesmen could also teach basic skills. That industry still exists in poorer countries and I hope it won't die in the name of "development" before it will need to be revived in the near future. They could come over and teach us. To 2, where I live, cyclists are respected on the road where not covered by separate bike lanes, enhancing the benefits. But that's because the goverment has rules which are enforced. It's all possible. So yeah, I blame capitalism lol. It's a cult that brainwashes us out of knowing what a good life even is, and that we can simply choose to live it, and ask our governments to support that.

Thank Steven, and thank you, Dr. Martha Beck, your teachings on awakening, compassion, and being in tune with nature are profound. You highlight our deep interconnectedness and the potential for harmony when we let go of judgment and materialism. Humans lived for thousands of years in balance with nature, free from many of the constructs-greed, jealousy, and fear-we’ve created. I once met a Buddhist monk on a turbulent flight who stayed calm, seeing it as an exciting experience rather than something to fear. That mindset-living in the moment without fear-felt like true enlightenment. Reflecting on this, it’s clear we need to return to simplicity, sharing, and respect for nature to evolve as a society. Talk less, do more, and focus on what truly matters.

One day I had this thought in my head, that each person is divided in 3, in a triangular shape, on the top sits the part of us that is one with the universe, the enlighten part of us, the touched by the light as she says, and another part is the "child", the traumatised versions of ourselves in different times of our lives, and the third is the "coping adult", the one that can choose to be kind to the child, mother the child, or can choose to numb and cope with drugs, alcoholism or to destroy itself. The journey of enlightenment would be the "coping adult" healing the "child" and both ascending to our third being, and reaching wholeness.

@@DaddyBiscuits Sure. @mangomosaics was trying to blame schools-“the education system”-for the shift in creativity as children age. The fact is that it is important for that shift to happen in order to navigate the society we live in. We teach our children HOW to do things because it is more efficient than having them figure it out on their own. What about potty training? Surely they would have more of a chance to be creative and innovative about where, when, and how to eliminate if we just left them to their own devices. I have a problem with schools being the scapegoat for all that is wrong in our society. 🙄

@@simplylive2466 I think is a very good thing. Most fact checks were about mentions of the author to studies or data she claims as truth. All these papers and studies are usually published and available to review, so it shouldn't be that hard to have a group of people researching to discover the truth of these claims. There's no need to have any kind of "expert" in any particular area. Love what Dr. Beck says here. I became fully awake over the past two years, after discovering Dr Joe Dispenza's work. Beck is spot-on when she says the shift in consciousness will alleviate the suffering we cause ourselves. For me, I am so in tune with the Universe now, it has changed how I interact with people daily. So thankful to say this.

Steven, I appreciate your vulnerability in your childlike participation of the mini exercises she led you into, like settling anxiety and where you felt it in your chest. For viewers who have never been in the presence of a therapist, I think this is helpful modeling. 🙏 On another topic, I remember my son at 4yo with a crayon behind his ear…proudly & confidently proclaiming “ I’m an artist!” Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for school to suppress the natural creativity in order to serve the left brain. He’s a mathematics major, & my hope is that somewhere in his life he can integrate and express both sides. Thanks for the interview!

@@bethanyxox You got this! A routine that personally helped me get through a two-month long episode of panic attacks and insomnia after a traumatic event was this routine that I cobbled together based on a lot of popular videos/blogs: 1.) exercise at least 30 min a day (even just walking); 2.) journal thoughts, feelings, and acknowledge the panic attacks and recognize they are a temporary state that will pass as well as 5 things youre grateful for; 3.) keep busy; 4.) drink lemon balm + ashwaghanda tea during the day if you feel it coming on and then again 1 hour before bed (until you don't need it anymore, now i'll only drink it if I anticipate a particularly stressful event coming up); 5.) maintain a consistent, strict, but beautifully relaxing night routine, whatever that means for you. For me that was: - No phones/screens before bed; - Read a book/listen to music/white noise that makes you sleepy; - At least 10 minutes of meditation; - Room is totally dark; - Same bed time/wake up time every day, no matter what. - Clean room of all clutter, clean sheets/blanket. - Bedroom is for night routine/sleep only, it is your safe space and haven. The first night I tried that routine it reduced my anxiety significantly and I slept most of the night for the first time in months. Within a few days, the panic attacks were permanently gone. I still get anxiety from time to time, but its rare, and I can handle it with ease. Looking back on it now, I think I understand why it worked because the advice/science behind it tells us that this type of routine is an opportunity for the mind and body to finally catch a break, rest, and reset. With anxiety our mind is racing constantly and wont give us peace, which exhausts us as it embeds itself as a bad habit. This routine breaks that habit, even briefly, and then over days and weeks breaks the habit completely if we stick to it. Catching that break where your mind isn't racing for an hour, getting sleep, feeling rested then builds up our resiliency to future anxiety/stress and gives us back the tools to deal with it in the future. I like the analogy that stress/anxiety is like a fluctuating river, and our body/mind is like a dam holding it back, controlling the flow and keeping levels stable/safe. Traumatic events and the daily grind of stress puts cracks in the dam and as water leaks through, the cracks widen and it starts to flow through unabated - we essentially start to lose the ability to handle anxiety/stress, leading to panic attacks/other symptoms. The water will always be there, that's life, but our dam is actually pretty good at dealing with it if we maintain it, so its up to us to consciously maintain the dam and patch it back up when it cracks. The cracks aren't permanent at all! The routine above is the maintenance that patches the dam back up and allows us to deal with the regular flow of the river. It worked for me and I hope it helps you, too!

Knowing about history gives one a lot of perspective and helps in critical thinking.

I’m not even 27 minutes into this episode but I am completely rapt with curiosity. And hope. I have been suffering deeply for years-especially the last five-because I don’t seem to have an identity. Meaning, my brain keeps telling me I don’t know what my purpose is. I was quite stunned when Dr. Beck speaks about exactly this. Then Dr. Beck moves into the very issue I have been grappling with the last three days-should I keep pushing myself to be creative? I have been forcing myself to do arts and crafts again for the last several weeks (after losing my connection to my artistic side decades ago).. now I know that I must push on with my goal.. and that is to work on a creative project every single day. You reconfirmed this isn’t a frivolous thing to do!
@DaddyBiscuits
@DaddyBiscuits 3 сағат бұрын
I think it becomes frivolous the moment you start expecting good judgement for it, which leads it to commecial applications, which makes it a job, and more about pleasing others than yourself. What do you reckon? I say this as someone who's had an above average degree of "success" in the arts. To me, it wasn't creativity or talent, but copying people who're considered to be the best (enough times) to make it appear natural and easy. Think of like how musical instruments are taught and played.

In fact he reminds me of a male Oprah in the way he is able to speak to so many kinds of people and somehow draw them out yet he is still respectful but also commands attention. He is able to be personable and relatable with his flaws but he is supremely competent and business-minded. People just trust him. One of Oprah's few stumbles as a journalist was her interview with Harry and Megan while I think Stephen has really mastered the art of letting someone speak without necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with them if the things they say cannot be proven.

This is one of the best podcasts that the diary of a CEO had, and tackling a very imminent issues in our society: 'anxiety'. Anxiety can take different forms and shapes and sometimes we cannot feel it, especially if we are not tunes with ourselves - I could related to this women in many ways. I appreciate the little exercises that she mentioned. I am ordering her book now to know a bit more about them. I usually do not leave a comment, but I felt compelled to, this time. Thank you very much for the podcast, Steven :)

"The food people eat impacts their health and the health of the environment. Unhealthy diets, overconsumption, and hunger are leading to nutritional deficiencies and diet-related chronic diseases around the world. The food system is also a major cause for climate change, freshwater depletion, deforestation, and pollution of ecosystems, for example through over-application of fertilizers,' says Dr Marco Springmann of the Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Food and the Centre on Population Approaches for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention at the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford
