I know I'm over a year late, but let me talk about Lordi because they're my favorite band and they need more recognition. Austin definitely hit the nail on the head when he said that they look like a "theatre production of Evil Dead". Mr. Lordi, the lead singer, founder, and main costume designer for Lordi, is a huge fan of horror films, including Evil Dead. 80s horror B movies are the main inspiration behind Lordi's image. They are also influenced by bands and artists like Kiss and Alice Cooper. They don't necessarily aim to be a "scary" band, but they are very theatrical. They're music videos and live shows are all reminiscent of the horror movies that Mr. Lordi grew up watching, with their video for Blood Red Sandman being a direct homage to Evil Dead. So, if you like bands with a cool 80s hard rock sound and an entertaining-as-hell persona, give Lordi a shot.

Anklepants is fantastic. Saw him live 2 years ago. He has actuators along his arm so he can control the wiggle of the nose penis in time with the music. He only uses the mic as well. It has a variety of sensors on it and depending on the way he swings it or holds it, it changes the amount of effect. I.E. If he slowly lowers the mic towards the ground, a delay effect will start becoming more prominent. It's pretty damn cool live.

No longer but originally Parliament featured a character lineup including Star Child out to protect music from Sir Nose DeVoidOFunk and Dr Funkenstein. Delivered to stage in a spaceship that is now proudly housed at the Smithsonian. One that disbanded but was extraordinary is Sycotik Sinfony who appeared in one feature film, and still have their album Wargasm available for download. A genre mashup of metal, punk, rap, jazz... worth checking out. Trollfest dress as... seems variable just check out some KZbin clips. Screaming Jay Hawkins used to come out as a sort of Baron Samedi with a bone in his nose for his famous "I Put A Spell on You"... oh yeah. The Village People.

Everyone is missing out on Ice Nine Kills one of the best breakthrough bands this year. They dress up as horror movie characters on stage as all their songs are about horror media for instance the singer is a mix a freddy and jason, guitarist is leatherface, other guitarist is georgie from It, bassist is the crow, and the drummer is a pig mask from saw. They got big off "A Grave Mistake" a mellow song however their album "The Silver Scream" is one of my favorite albums

Portal is very experimental, it’s kinda like slow black metal. It has very slow-ish drums and trem picking. It suits there look quite a bit. Edit: I forgot to include song recommendations. I recommend kilter and glumrophobel.
