@missa15177 жыл бұрын
Mariah right it took them seven years to figure out what I had they thought I was making it up and then they diagnose me with gp
@Seythia7 жыл бұрын
Why would she need one if the problem is that she can't get anything into her stomach in the first place? No one says she's faking it, though. I actually think it's a very good thing that a psychological aspect was considered at all. Because most doctors probably DID think she was faking it before her diagnosis. Most of the illnesses people mentioned in the comments are much higher in the diagnose hirarchy than a psychological reason.

@michaelleitner19744 жыл бұрын
Gastric emptying studies dont catch many cases of gp, because the standardised meals are very often pretty different from a persons diet. Just because you can digest a white bread slice with some scrambled eggs, doesnt mean you can also digest raw carratos and cucumbers.

Rumination syndrome is being studied more. The DSM 5 brought more light as far as diagnosis requirements and discussion on said diagnosis. It's so nice of the director of the Remuda Ranch to offer her free treatment. I struggled with anorexia nervosa for a number of years. Treatment is expensive. That offer is truly a blessing. Fun fact: I'm almost done with my psych degree. Clarification: rumination disorder is not an eating disorder. It's a feeding disorder. The DSM 5 does distinguish between the two.

My doctor literally just told me to chew gum after I got diagnosed 7 years ago at age 7. We’ve got it under control through more unconventional methods (holistic). Y’all, it’s not an eating disorder like anexaría or bulemia. That one guy talking about stress is the most right one out of all of them.
@lewisisdaman2 жыл бұрын
Yep. It's not an eating disorder. More a reaction to extreme stress or emotional distress.

@GriffinK10 Жыл бұрын
Try to get into a habit related to eating (ex. chewing gum). It's nearly as hard as kicking an addiction ( - withdrawals), so it'll be tough for the first couple weeks nomatter what. MAKE SURE you get electrolytes. Potassium & Sodium are excreeted more than anything - a sodium deficiency leading to seziures and a potassium deficiency leading to cardiac arrest. I nearly died THREE TIMES at the 1 year mark since the disorder appeared. If you're feeling muscle spasms, get potassium ASAP (some kind of vitamin drink is pretty easy to keep down if you haven't eat anything in a while - V8 being extra packed with nutrients if you can keep that down).

God bless you girl! My grandmother suffered from this 5 years ago and she also had food pipe. It was so worse that she couldn't digest water and I was too young to understand what was happening. But after one and half years of feeding her with tubes, doctors advised to start feeding her liquid and it did get better and eventually back to normal. Doctor said that it was the first time he's removing a patient's food pipe before s/he is dead.

I became severely malnourished and vomited 10 times plus a day, the pain is awful. I thought I was mad and the doctors didn't know what to do. My wonderful team at St Marks hospital in London , UK have saved my life many times. I'm on a Nasojejuuenal feeding tube, and painkillers for my chronic pain. I hope she gets the help she needs. It does anger me when doctors resort to blaming the patient when they cannot find what is going on. Has she been checked for gastroparesis with a gastric emptying scan or had HPylori checked with a blood test? Has she had her Free T3 levels checked? I couldn't digest food until I got my Free T3 levels up to the top of the range with my TSH below range and my FT3 had been low-NORMAL before starting T3 meds. It has taken 30 mcg of T3 for me to be able to eat and gain any weight even though my levels were previously in the normal range. Has she been checked for SIBO? I hope her family seeks out a functional medicine doctor or Integrative doctor that won't stop looking for the root cause. I know first hand what it's like for doctors to give up and start putting it back on the patient. I lived with Lyme Disease for 9 years before doctors figured it out. You have to keep searching for answers. I'm hesitant to believe this is psychological. Check the FT3 levels and even if they are in normal ranges, they might not be optimal for that particular person. Another thing with that would be to check Reverse T3 also. Just my experience.
@alishalee25686 жыл бұрын
They said at the start they checked for h. Pylori. In actuality, many patients with rumination syndrom are first diagnosed (wrongly) with gastroparesis. There was no blaming the patient in this video. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis after the same symptoms as her, as well as the results of my emptying study. However we are now looking to see if it is infact rumination syndrom because the vomiting itself is different. Perhaps this has been the case for her too. From what I can tell, a lot more is known about gastroparesis than it is about rumination syndrome, so often GP is looked at first!

For years I've spontaneously vomited up small amounts of food after eating and spit them out. It's gross but i just figured i had digestion issues, but there's no acid or burning - it's just food coming back up. Not hard to believe it's possibly an eating disorder, since I often feel guilt after eating and wonder if i ate too much. What's hard to imagine is that stress could actually make me spontaneously throw up.

I am very unsure for one reason. I think she has an NG tube and she wouldn't tolerate those feeds if she has GP and symptom wise it seems to only be vomiting or regurgitation. It seems like the moment goes down it goes right back up a few seconds to minutes later. If she had she had GP she could get it down but would come up an hour to few hours later but it would sit there for a while before coming back up
