@@gambacherkalbenstein hahaha I mean I hope there’s heaven for fish. Especially this fish. Reminds me of the poem “Heaven” by Rupert Brooke. Fish (fly-replete, in depth of June, Dawdling away their wat'ry noon) Ponder deep wisdom, dark or clear, Each secret fishy hope or fear. Fish say, they have their Stream and Pond; But is there anything Beyond? This life cannot be All, they swear, For how unpleasant, if it were! One may not doubt that, somehow, Good Shall come of Water and of Mud; And, sure, the reverent eye must see A Purpose in Liquidity. We darkly know, by Faith we cry, The future is not Wholly Dry. Mud unto mud!--Death eddies near-- Not here the appointed End, not here! But somewhere, beyond Space and Time, Is wetter water, slimier slime! And there (they trust) there swimmeth One Who swam ere rivers were begun, Immense, of fishy form and mind, Squamous, omnipotent, and kind; And under that Almighty Fin, The littlest fish may enter in. Oh! never fly conceals a hook, Fish say, in the Eternal Brook, But more than mundane weeds are there, And mud, celestially fair; Fat caterpillars drift around, And Paradisal grubs are found; Unfading moths, immortal flies, And the worm that never dies. And in that Heaven of all their wish, There shall be no more land, say fish.

Scuba dive has changed my perspective towards animals deeply. Went from a voracious meat eater to vegetarian, went from believing that animals where just responding to instincts, to actually see that there was something beyond that. I’ve seen octopi meeting my gaze, looking straight into my eyes and reach with their tentacles out of pure curiosity. Sometimes even getting playful. I’ve seen a sea turtle asking for help to get fishing gear removed from a fin. I’ve seen moray eels getting familiar with me after visiting their hiding spot many times in a row… If we could manage to step out from our own bubble just a bit and see and listen to all those around us… We would be so much different.

Everyone told me fish were incapable of affection too, but that is NOT true. I made friends with a trout that loved being touched and rubbed. He would gently take food from my hand and follow me around like this fish. even from the bank, I could tap on a rock and he came as fast as he could swim. So, stories like this definitely bring back special memories. It's like receiving a rare gift from nature.

One of these days thanks to the internet people will realize Genesis wasn't lying. The state of death and predator/prey is unnatural, the truly natural state is for animals to have no fear of us and for us to look after them and love them. I saw on a TV program that one scientist had actually taught a fish to jump through a small hoop she would place over the water tank. There is so much we still don't know about animal intelligence. Hopefully, more and more people will soon understand that. I would love to see the day when everyone agrees to stop fishing and hunting because they have discovered how much fmore fulfilling interactions with all animals are like.

Koi fish have been bred for thousands of years by humans and they are very smart but they're also motivated by food as they are voracious eaters. They definitely will bond with you. I have koi fish but I also have sliders and cooter turtles as well as minnows and three massive plecostomus in my pond. They get along quite well as a matter of a fact my Plecos love being around the turtles to either vacuum up the mess they make with food or they suck on their shells. I notice at feeding time for the turtles my Plecos will follow them once they notice them going to the area where they're fed. Once I start feeding them the Plecos will sit behind them and wait for the food debris to get everywhere then swoop in once they see enough. Also people underestimate pigeons and how great of a pet they actually make. When I am outside of their aviary they'll fly near the door beckoning to come in especially when they see the food cup filled with seed. Two of them are wild that I've captured from my mom's house or my workplace. They figure out what is what and who is who. My kids or wife will go in the cage and they want nothing to do with them. I'll go in the cage and they'll come hang out by my feed and eat any seed in the grass.

A friend of ours had a goldfish in a little tank, he really interacted with too. Whenever he got visitors, the fish started to plash on the water with its tail and when our friend didn't react to that, he jumped out of the tank on the carpet, knowing his human friend would get up to save him and thus getting the desired attention.

'Finding Sunny', about a teenage youngster from the same neighbourhood as Nemo and Dory (who do have cameo's but don't play important roles, but it's a fish movie so why not bank on that brand familiarity and also save some time on designs of the under water world). Sunny is a runaway kid, hiding in a corner of the reef where nobody knows him, but he meets this diver and of all creatures she is the one he confides in. After showing her around in his new 'neighbourhood' he eventually leads her to his home, that's filled with 'treasure' ; items from the bottom of the see that he considers beautiful. Some day, he realizes that the friendship with the diver may not last (or at least can not grow much closer) because they come from different worlds but he has learned to open up to others and share about his life. While there have been search parties out there, whom Sunny managed to ignore and escape from for the longest time, 'Finding Sunny' is truely about Sunny finding and accepting himself in order to find his place in the world. Final scene is the diver meeting Sunny possibly one last time as he leads her to a place where all his friends from his hometown have gathered to show his greatest treasure : friendship! Coming in 2026!

Remarkably, I had a similar experience many years ago when I was a teenager. My family and I were vacationing in Barbados, and my father and I went on a local shallow water diving tour with two guides. They took us to the wreck of a small fishing boat in about 25 feet of water, and sitting in a small hole in this wreck was a porcupine fish, which is a species of puffer fish. The fish saw the guides and immediately recognized them (probably because they brought people by the wreck almost every day), and came out of the hole and swam right up to us. Incredibly, the fish let one of the guides hold it in his hands, and the guides motioned to me to pet it. Needless to say, I was mindblown as I very gently stroked my fingers along the fish's stomach. I could feel its bones and organs, and the fish was just as calm as could be; it didn't inflate or anything, like puffer fish normally do. I was like, "This isn't happening! Fish don't let you pet them!" But for whatever reason, this fish did. I'll never forget that day.

Anyone who has had a fish tank knows that fish recognize you, show emotion, etc. I had a saltwater tank with the absolute coolest pufferfish. He would get so excited when I got home from work and greet me at the side of the tank that was next to the door. He could see all the way across the apartment to my fridge and whenever I got into the freezer he would start freaking out with excitement, splashing the water up top, because the freezer is where I kept his food. He was awesome, he survived my move from from Los Angeles to San Diego but then I went on vacation and I had a family friend take care of him. I had full written instructions and made it clear how important he was to me, long story short she didn’t take care of him and he died. I was heartbroken.

@ToddDouglasFox Жыл бұрын
@@rsuriyop 30 years now. Also called kobudai in Japan, they are fished for food, live up to 40 years, and are one of the fish who can fluidly transgender. This story is quite different from the one you mention. The kobudai was ailing and the Japanese man fed him and saved his life. The bond was formed as a result. With Sonny, there was no feeding nor was there a bond due to life saving measures. The reason so many have commented and expressed joy about Sonny is this human to fish story gives hope that we can happily connect with beings as different from us as fish are but without inducement. And more than that for the connection to be about the relationship itself and that it not be based on conditions. To recognize the uniqueness in another and to cherish it is agape. The fact this is a fish and a human is the special sweetness. This seems to be the central mission and focus of Agape Sailing but they could not have imagined this would manifest with a fish. The sailors are genuinely surprised and delighted as are many of us.
