@betsyj597 ай бұрын
The people who abuse their pets are abusive people - they also abuse family members or whoever is dependent on them. I would guess that a number of these people get pets precisely to abuse them. Others want the love of a pet but then at the first prick of frustration or disapproval or similar emotion, they immediately turn to abuse. You can't protect animals from these people and you also can't protect their own children from them... until after the abuse has been noticed and the damage has been done.

This is how I feel when people rescue an abused animal, gain their trust just to give them away. It is abandonment all over again
@sarahartz17217 ай бұрын
@@baileybug776 It's not abandonment, it's allowing the best possible outcome (and normal life) for the animal. Think about it: if every abused animal was a foster fail case, there wouldn't be any fosters available to help other animals in similar situations. This way, another family can love them and it frees up the foster's space and time for the next one. And it's not like they're giving the animal away willy-nilly. There's usually a thorough interview/adoption process to make sure the animal is an appropriate and safe environment with its new owner(s). A foster wouldn't allow all the time and effort and love that goes into rehabilitation to mean nothing. Rest assured that it's all in everyone's best interest, especially the doggo 🐶

Unfortunately, I think this would probably be WAY too much of a challenge for someone looking for a dog to join the family and participate in day to day life. They would probably give it a day or two, and when it didn't go as planned, they would just return her. At least this way, she can learn how life can and SHOULD be (and should have been from the start). So she won't have such a learning curve. 😊

We had one dog that was abused and had bad separation anxiety and when I came back from my lunch he ran up to me and bit down on my jacket sleeve hard and closed his eyes and started whimpering and that’s when it hit me, I spent the last 30min before my break hugging and petting him and that’s the most love he got since he came to us (literally 30min prior to that) and he didn’t want me to leave, never in my life was it harder to leave work

It's really infuriating to see what someone did to her simply because it's inside them to be cruel often because someone was cruel to them and they're just mimicking the behavior. An abuser must make someone bad and they create excuses to hurt someone on purpose. "They deserve it. I need to humble them. I'm going to teach them a lesson." It takes a good-hearted person to reverse the damage caused by a subconscious sadistic pattern an abuser has embodied. There is no excuse for abuse ever. We can all choose better.
