This makes me a little sad. When I was 13, I found 5 baby rabbits in the back yard and took them in so the next door cats wouldn't get them. I bottle fed them and loved them so much. My evil step mom took them one day and I never saw them again. I'm 41 now and I still think about that day from time to time. They were so sweet and I had names for all of them. George, Jack, Peter, Babs and Bambi. May they still RIP

I once raised a little rabbit like this, he was so sweet. When he was old enough we released him. I remember he used to jump against his crate when he wanted more cuddles. If some people knew I had raised a wild rabbit they would have thought I was nuts, but I didn't care, all animals deserve a chance at life.

I also recently found baby bunny orphans, and wanted to help since I am already a bunny mom, but in my state, it is illegal to keep wild animals. The state wild animal shelter told me if I bring the bunnies to them , then they will euthanize them since they don't have enough space and stuff due to COVID. I was able to find a private NGO who does wild animal rescue, but I don't know what happened to them after all...... Next time when if I find orphans, I will definitely save them like she did.

Most baby rabbits found aren't actually abandoned. The moms leave them for a large portion of the day and only come back to feed them at night. They do this to avoid leaving their scent so predators have a hard time finding the babies. Most people mean well but end up doing more harm when they interfere. It's best just to leave them be
@cktk7449
@cktk7449 3 жыл бұрын
@@veronicasmith7309 Thank you for the comment and sharing the important info with others. Yes, I did research and consulted with my bunny vet before I did anything to them, but they were on middle of concrete road, a little in different spots. We think the nest was attacked by a cat or crow. We tried so hard to locate the nest, but we were not able to find any. We also left them outside in a safe place for half day with a heating pad, but they were in a shock and did not move, and also mom didnt show up. It was becoming cold and I was advised by a specialist at the state wild animal center to bring them inside my house. I still think about them and I sometimes think that I might have separated them from their mom and feel sad, but I hope they are thriving in good hands :)

My rabbit licked my face, too 😍. The last day at the vet when I had to let him go ( his legs couldn't move 😥) I sat four hours waiting our turn ,remember hot chocolate machine, we shared..He licked my tears when we waited ...I am so angry at those vets and myself. I was young and they didn't say anything, just we take him ,they were in a hurry it seemed, told me to leave him ,I was so submissive back then ,went out the door, saw all the owners with their animals, realized what just happened, turned and went back in to say no ,I will hold him myself, already they had given him the shot ,I got to hold him ,but I don't know if he felt it was me ...They rather should have asked us to wait if they were in such a hurry. I'm a 43 year old mom now, I still regret not demanding to hold him through it all. He was my baby with me absolutely everywhere and a special rabbit. There's some days who are holy in my eyes. When our loved ones are sick,dying ..If we can and want ,that moment is so special ,I am so devastated for all my loved ones that died alone. That shouldn't happen . Sadly we can't control and often it happens when we don't expect, but when we do ...it's very unfortunate if we're not allowed. Anyways ,so glad to see this little fluff ball got released after loving care first. I would hope the house was regularly made clean if he continued to use it. Imagine if they lived near the woods and the rabbit could be wild and still come and go as he pleased.. Anyways ,it was a very happy story as it was . Thank you for saving a precious life ! ❤

I’m sure he loved you very much. I was so devastated when my rabbit got sick, I was so upset I started not picking her up. I think I was subconsciously disassociating because I was trying to protect myself. I’ve never gone to the vets with my mum when any of my pets has been put down because I find it to difficult. But I still regret not spending more time with her in her last moments so I know how you feel. I think a lot of people think because it’s it’s not a dog or a cat that they don’t matter. But I’ve loved everyone of my hamsters guinea pigs and rabbits. And I’ll always remember every single one. 💜

They released him outside - and I am guessing they placed his hutch outside as well, for shelter.

We released him and left his hutch for an option, but he has taken up residence in a huge brush pile near a pond on my Aunt’s farm. He has since found two young lady rabbits that never leave his side. I do miss this little dude!

Wonderful that they released him instead of keeping him as a pet selfishly, but still gave him the option to go into a hut for shelter to slowly adjust. Very wise people! 🙂

My dad was plowing a field one day and brought home a couple of baby jack rabbits abandoned by the mama. He had us feed them with a doll's baby bottle of my little sistet. He kept them in his old slipper with sherpa lining to stay warm. Tooooo cute. After they grew up, he released them back to the field.😇 I never forgot that. My dad was a amazing beautiful man. You are a sweetheart, too. God bless you, and bunny rabbit.❤Have a good life.

And it's very brave and kind of her to release the bunny back to the forest. I'm not sure that I would be able to do that if I'm the one who took care of him. I know it's for the best, but... it's very hard to let go.

Please please please don't try to keep wild baby rabbits unless you have the right training and know what to do!! Take it to a wildlife rehabber 🙏

Why? There's a million videos of people helping animals and everything turns out great. In every comment section there's someone saying they shouldn't do it but take it to a wildlife rehabilitator. Ideally yes a professional would be better but can you imagine if everyone did this? They would be overwhelmed and there's not enough help.

@@dolphingurls8204 I've known people who try to keep them as pets and hey often end up dying of stress. They're prey animals and naturally anxious. Plus, rabbits are able to survive on their own from a young age.

I'd keep him somewhere safe till he get's full grown..stay cats kill our baby rabbits unless we keep them pinned up till at least half grown.Then they can be released in the chicken yard and have plenty of room to do whatever they want..but wild rabbits are smaller so would wait till full grown..
