Boxers are very intelligent. In fact some are police dogs. They're just harder to train because they are stubborn. That's why German shepherds are used. Not because they're smarter but because they are easier to train.

@@williammarx9088 i wasn’t talking so much about compliance but more problem solving skills. I play treat finding games with my lab and boxer and they both try hard but the labrador gets the treat 9 times out of 10. Also, it’s not a slight nor an indictment on boxers nor did I say they were the least intelligent. Some dogs are just smarter than others. Both of these dogs would get crushed in a problem solving and speed competition by a Border Collie hands down. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@williammarx9088 It's a different type of intelligence. They read humans far better than most breeds but couldn't solve a problem quickly if the were offered a long tail. The stubbornness tag I believe comes from not marking the moment correctly or not rewarding that leading behaviour and marking and building, They read humans so well that stubbornness is the reflection of the human frustration. Patience and slow build, Just my experience training a few hundred of them.

I am 72 years old and watching this reminds me of my dog. She was 2 years old when my parents had me. My parents let her sniff me when I came home and she became my protector and buddy. She passed away at 16 years of age and I still miss her even though I have had other dogs in my life A bond like this is for life and beyond.

I had a nanny dog when I was a runt. Mom tried rehoming her when we had to move. She busted through my grandma's and was waiting at the old house when we came back for a load. It was some 20-30 miles away. Her passing messed me up for like 3 years.

My parents got a black lab puppy when I was 2 years old, name was Bingo. He was by my side for most of my childhood and died after contracting distemper. He would be waiting at the bus stop every time I got off the bus, he timed me. He used to go walk the other kids home if I was sick. Best dog ever.

Hi Carol, absolutely agree. Having an animal as a baby, teaches that child empathy, affection and strangely for a baby relationships all at an early age. Ive noticed children bought up around animals generally grow up to be good people. How many times have we heard about children killing animals then growing up as adults with no empathy whatsoever. I remember all of my dogs nearly everyday and its funny grieving for a human is different than grieving for a n old canine friend.

My dad grew up with a Boxer, and when he was a toddler he apparently crawled towards the fireplace whilst it was on during a family gathering at Christmas. When my grandparents looked back over at him, the Boxer had laid over my dad before he got too close to the fireplace, and had singed the hairs on her back a bit keeping him safe. They're incredibly loyal dogs, I'm glad Luca got to experience that level of care so early on from a pet. It'll set him up for good!

Boxers are great, owned many over my many years. Very intelligent pups, and easy to train some times. Hard headed stubborn. Very loving friendly dog. Boxers love being a very part of the family plus can be very protective for younger children. Very playful all the time, lots of energy all the time. I have a beautiful female now and she is just a great buddy to me. The boxer has that majestic look on their face. Too state they are superior. Just a facial look. 😊

Vito is teaching Luca something VERY valuable in life, it's how to love and treat animals (especially dogs) with love, respect and compassion. My parents bought me a dog for my 1st birthday, she was my best friend for 15yrs. We did everything together, being with her were some of the best times of my life. It's been almost 24 years since she's passed, but I see a bit of her in every dog I meet. Dogs are THE BEST!!!!!

My first words were to one of our dogs. I grew up around large breed dogs and was always comfortable with them and I was told they were introduced to me at a very young age. I had not spoken a single word and then one day sitting on a picnic blanket I said my first word ever, a sentence no less!! *"Come me pot"* .... the dog's name was "Spot" and I couldn't say the "S" but the rest was quite clear! Luca is such an adorable little baby, and Vito definitely adores him and its reciprocal. Luca's first steps being to his beloved Vito was really beautiful, to see him hugging his canine big brother was just so very lovely. Vito considered that little boy HIS baby to protect and cherish, from the moment of hearing that heartbeat in Mom's tummy. Dogs love their families so much, they rarely get jealous of a baby and take on an extra protective mode. I remember our dog sneaking into my brother's room, and shutting the door behind her so we wouldn't see her, to sleep under his crib. 🥰

Boxers are definitely child oriented. My niece was given a surprise boxer puppy for Christmas. All the adults were scattered around and the kids were all playing together. The biggest thing I got from this video is how good dogs can be if you give them what they need. Love, structure, attention fun, good food walks. Too many people write off a dog that is not behaving to their standard but many times they’re not taking care of them properly and the dogs will act out, if not given basic needs. This dog is obviously very well taken care of, and loved, and it shows in his actions.
