I know it's been a while since you posted this, and you might have already changed your mind, but I just wanted to tell you it's a lot easier to let them go than you think! I foster feral kittens and have to work really hard for a few months per cat to socialise them, take them from a hissing little angry cat to a loving, cuddly cat. My first two were so, so hard to say goodbye to! I cried so much, but I knew they were ready to go and that their new mum and dad would love them so much, and give them more attention and time than I could (With 4 other foster cats and some other pets in the house!). I went to see them in their new home after a week and it was an amazing thing to see; they were so happy in their new home and you could see how much they loved their new parents. Basically, yes it's so hard to see them go, but fostering is the most amazing thing you can do to help save lives, and once you've got over the first adoption the others will be so much easier! I've adopted out another 5 since then and they have each been easier than the last. Also you get so many benefits while fostering! You get to spend time with cute cats or kittens but never have the pain of watching them get old or sick (that's if you foster kittens, so many senior cats need fostering too!), you generally don't have to pay for much - we only pay for wet food and toys, our charity we foster with pays for the dry food and litter, and you get to know that you are the reason those cats are alive and have the chance of finding an amazing, loving forever home.

Badger is exactly the same as my cat Simba! We saved him (and his brother) when they were 24 hours old and their mother had passed giving birth. Somehow they both survived, but Shere Khan hit his milestones on time and Simba was ALWAYS a week late. He sticks his tongue out, and instead of meowing he has a little squeak, and I like to joke that he's a little slow in the head because of the way he acts and plays. Him and brother just turned 4 and we are very happy they both made it!

Antihistamines can help with that. Lots of cat fosterers are allergic but there are always ways around it. Eventually you even get used to your own cats and become immune to them but still allergic to others.

I fostered kittens before I got asthma it is the most heart-breaking feeling to let them go but you have to make room for the next cat a piece of my heart that I will never get back was lost with each one, but the memories are priceless. I never knew what unconditional love was till I met them they had a huge influence on my outlook on life helped me overcome my trust issues and master the courage to upon my heart to people even if it just for a life season the moments you live together are worth it plz try fostering it is the most wonderful experience.

Man, Badger kind of reminds me of my smallest dog. He was sick when we first got him - pneumonia, I think, and a few days close to death - and was so timid as a puppy due to it. But then, due to my folks’ intervention and the vet, he got better and grew up into this doggo obsessed with fetch. Once you pick up that ball, that’s it: you’re playing fetch til he decides to stop. :)
