@@lovealways2609 I was going to write a long winded comment based on what is known about the evolution of the modern domestic cat, but thankfully the Internet ate it ... Bottom line is, remarkably, life seems to be especially harsh for unfixed, male cats, even in the concrete jungle, especially, much like solitary male lions, finding a pride to join, given the natural inclination to reproduce, is pretty damn tough, especially when the only way is to defeat a male lion of a preexisting pride. Granted, domestic cats are more like tigers, and leopards, in that they are more adept at being a solitary hunter, but the constant toll of eaking out a territory, and defending it against other, intruding male cats, whilst finding enough to eat, and finding unfixed female cats to mate with, is extremely stressful, even at a genetic level. In fact, cat behaviourists* theorised the reason why the life span of a feral domestic cat is so much shorter than one kept largely indoors, is because of the sheer stress feral cats, especially male cats, go through, is enough to cause, essentially, premature ageing. Hence why he looks way older than he actually is, as he had had a rather hard knock life ... [*= Yup, there are actual PhD programs in Cat/Feline Behaviour. Like all STEM PhDs, it isn't as easy as it sounds, but, if successful, you not only get to call yourself Dr. for real, but you get to study cats all day ... which, if had it been more of a thing that I knew of back when I was 16, in 1990, it something I would definitely have aim for ...]

Yes! Unfixed males make too much testosterone steroid which makes their face round (like moon face like Cushings Disease) and other males don’t like them, they’re often solo their whole life because other cats don’t like them, so they can’t find a tribe. And they “feel” more aggressive inside and they don’t like that feeling either. Even human men don’t like being on steroids. Neutering males before 1years offers them a much more pleasant life.

That’s what my fiancé did with my cat. My cat was suspicious to strangers and refused to go up to anyone he didn’t know. I knew my fiancé wasn’t a “cat” person. He would let my cat sniff him and let my cat come up to him. He would never approach my cat. One day my cat jumped on my lap with my fiancé sitting next me and I told him to hold out his hand to see what my cat would do. He did and my cat gently rubbed his cheek against my fiancé’s hand. I was so excited, but my fiancé pulled his hand back when my cat pulled his head away. Next time my fiancé came over to visit and was sitting next to me on the couch my cat jumped in his lap and curled up beside him purring. That’s when my fiancé first ever pet my cat. Now my cat is constantly trying to get in my fiancé’s lap when he comes. I even get jealous sometimes that my cat doesn’t want in my lap when he comes visit. 😂😂

Yea. I've done that with 2 'street' cats in my neighbourhood in the past couple of years since I moved here. One, Mr Grumpy, was a senior who'd been fending for himself on the streets apparently for 7+ years. I felt so sorry for him and took to feeding him daily but couldn't let him in at the time as my own cat, Lottie, hated other cats but when she very sadly died, out of the blue, within a year I was able to encourage Grumpy to overcome his fears if strangers, noises, etc, and come down the corridor to my apartment where I would then feed him. It took a lot of patience to help him overcome his skittishness but I was the only person he trusted and most other people scared him. It was clear he'd had a home before as he used the litter tray immediately after eating without me having to show him where it was! He still had the freedom to come and go as he wanted and I didn't want to just keep him in all the time as he liked to sometimes roam a bit! I had the privilege of looking after Mr Grumpy until the end of August 2021 when he suddenly took ill, I think having a series of strokes, and had to be euthanised. I was heartbroken and he was such a unique, quirky little boy. I'd also been feeding another cat, Boo Boo, and since Mr Grumpy died I've also, with much patience and over many weeks, been able to encourage him to sometimes come in for his food as well. He's still extremely skittish though and bolts at the first sign of anyone else around, noises, etc, but with me he stands on his back legs to reach up and 'kiss' me when I bend down to him, he touches mu face with his paw, etc. He's so sweet! A few months ago a neighbour of mine had been interested in adopting him but her personality wasn't the right fit for him as she was too impatient when he wouldn't come to her, her voice was too loud when she was calling him, etc, and she just scared him off. So, it does take patience, time and a calm manner to help skittish, nervous animals to gain trust and overcome their fears. Also, I've found that with particularly nervous cats when they do allow you to touch them, at their own pace and without rushing them, it's best to avoid suddenly stroking them on top of their heads, especially when they're eating, as that can startle them. Gently stroking them from their necks down to their tails is best and the more you can do that the better, of course, as they get used to the touch and enjoy it. I still have a lot more 'work' to do with Boo Boo as he only comes into my flat, mainly late at night when less people are around, for about 10 minutes at time to eat his food and hang out with me a little bit. He does though roll around on his back at times though with his legs in the air, showing that he's happy!

BRO I followed his story on facebook before he even allowed pets from her. He's gone on such a journey, now has a happy family. He is the best boy.

I know but i think its our world view that tells us you have to do something to earn love, but love isn't really like that at all, its each other's being ness that we love. Not enough children receive that sense of being enough without doing something to earn the approval. On the other hand Dwight is very well behaved so he is doing something by omission. He's not behaving badly! ❤️

He’s not feral now - he’s a love bug and I don’t know who could resist his funny cute face and fluffy tummy 🥰

I fostered 3 feral kittens i found in my shed. They droped out within 2 days. But probably cause kittens. Still crazy how cats just understand how litter boxes work .

It takes literally months and months and months for a cat to come around To trust you. I have experience. I have a feral myself but thank you so much for taking him in and feeding him, he’s a beautiful baby. You did not give up on him when most people would.

The bigger the head on a cat, the cuter it is. Like kryptonite. Fathead kitties. Addictive. Monstrous cuteness.

We had a stray come around and he had the biggest face ever, after two months of feeding him outside he trusted us enough to come in and live with us. When we took him to the vet to get him fixed the vet told us that male cats faces get really big until they are fixed and sure enough his face got normal sized within a few weeks.

I heard that male cat who aren't neutered have big round cheeks due to the testosterone.

My cat "Uncle", AKA Chunkle, got fixed when he was around 19 months but retained that big ol' cute head.

So sad he didn't stay with the girl who made him happy at first. I know I could never give him up.

I thought that at first as well but seeing him completely loving on his foster mom gives me faith that they will find the perfect home where he will be just as comfy and happy🙏🌈 at least now he is safe, indoors, fed and loved. It’s a win! 🙏🌈🥰

The cat is FIV positive and the girl has another 5 cats, it's complicated try to isolate the positive from the other 5 cats on the same house
