in my opinion, the only good "shiny lock" is in the wild area which prevents you from finding an uncatchable shiny since you can't catch mons of certain levels. but overall it sucks lol. but this hunt is awesome!

The reason why I believe TPC is shiny locking the legendary Pokémon in MSG is bc they want players to pay to raid them or do exclusive quests for them in Pokemon Go. Outside of Japan, shiny Mew and Genesect are Go exclusive and Melton and Melmetal are also Go exclusive. Victini will probably be released at the in person event in Go next February.

Fun fact, shiny locking was actually introduced in gen 3 on the GameCube title Pokemon Colosseum. What’s more, all the pokemon in the game were supposed to be locked, but due to a bug the shadow Pokemon can be caught as shiny. Funny enough this situation was reversed in the game’s sequel XD Gale of Darkness.

I feel like that’s more of an instance of a regular trainer battle which shouldn’t be able to have shinies, simply being programmed incorrectly because of the fact that you can catch their Pokémon as opposed to an actual shiny lock. It would be kinda like saying shiny locks have been a thing since the beginning as all trainers Pokémon are shiny locked

@@ThedomiNATIONall trainers pokemon are not shiny because they are pre-programmed to have specific stats, including not being shiny. XD shadow pokemon are shiny LOCKED because it generates random stats but intentionally makes sure that the generated pokemon is not shiny

@@ThedomiNATION My first shiny in Pokemon Sword and Shield was a shiny Rookidee and found it at 109 encounters using the brilliant method(becuase it's the best method without the shiny charm for me lol). It is now a Corvinight that is able to Gigantamax! So I suggest you to find Shiny Rookidee using that method instead of that Corvisquire that is for some reason shiny locked... 😄

I’m currently shiny hunting the latios that you get during the story of oras (not the eon ticket). I’m genuinely surprised it isn’t shiny locked and another instance that they probably forgot to shiny lock it (Yes double checked it’s not locked, even saw videos of people get it) but hey I will take it. I’ve never seen this posted anywhere before, but you mentioned using casual controls and that reminded me of this great tip. While using the bike with casual controls, you travel slightly faster when using the right joystick to move, it is a very small difference but if you are egg hatching I’m sure that it’s a small time save over thousands of eggs. Seriously go try it out!

I remember during my first ever shield nuzlock I found a Shiny Litwick i called "Zuko" ( caught in a great ball because I didn't know shiny chandelure colours woops )who ended up carrying the run. Here's a nickname suggestion you've probably never gotten: name the vulpix/ninetails "Api Biru". It's a name for blue lava. The blue color is caused by sulfur mixing with the lava. It's from a volcano in Indonesia.

Funny enough, i did a shiny only playthrough of Sword, i had a Butterfree, Gyrados, and a Pancham. I was hitting the 2 hours mark on my grind for a cutiefly as i wanted to use one, where i decided i'd go and fight the gym real quick just to get my mind off the mind numbing grinding. As i enter the gym, my first pokemon, a vulpix ended up being shiny! I immediately murdered my allies pokemon, then caught the thing. Definitely a fun memory!

Yep! I have pretty much the settings I want now that I used in the litwick clip! I just need to remember to have my mic farther away from my mouth because before I had to be really close so it’s a lot to get used to! (I also have to figure out how I can have my elgato displayed twice for the dual hunt while only having audio for one of them as I didn’t realize there was loud game audio for the dual layout until I started editing)

I started a second play through of Sword recently and heard this was possible so thought I might do the hunt myself, but as I was going through my first attempt I really questioned if I had the motivation for the long haul of checks without the charm, but as luck would have it on only my third shiny check I got the Sizzli, which is now one of the favourite shint Pokemon I own!

if you are planing to evolve it, name it willow, it sounds like will-O-wisp and willow trees are a somewhat similar color to shiny ninetales, also if you burn wood it becomes charcoal and it fits for a shiny ninetales a ton

Yo! You’re tier list of how hard it is to hunt shiny pokemon just came up on my feed! Loved it but I had a question maybe you can help me answer! I’m currently at 12.5k resets on Unown ! & ? In BDSP and I heard you mention that those two were harder than others because of number values and stuff. Do you have any idea if that applies to BDSP? And was wondering if you could help me understand what you meant a little more

It does not apply to BDSP. I said they were harder because there’s usually something that needs to be done in order to even find unown ! And ? And usually they are just more rare forms than the rest. The only games that shiny odds vary between unown forms is fire red and leaf green. Along with the gen 2 games only having shiny unown I and V be possible. Every other game the unown shiny rates are all the same across each other. BDSP is one of the games where they aren’t too hard to get because you get the specific room that only has them! You just need to catch all the other letters beforehand to unlock that room!

First off, great finds you got in the gym. And second, I agree, the Shiny Lock sucks. Scarlet and Violet locking all the Bosses, Gimmighoul, and Gift Pokemon is bad enough. But locking all the past legendaries in the DLC is Xrta Bad. Also just like the games, they're bugged and don't have the 3 random 31 IVs they usually get. If it weren't for the Story, Boss Battles, and Shiny Mark hunting the Starters and Alola Forms, Sword and Shield's DLC would be (and even then maybe is) a better value. Not to mention being 5 dollars cheaper and way less buggy.

I’ve gotten way more use out of sword and shields dlc so I would say it was way better value. To this day people are still hunting for the legendaries in dynamax adventures! Scarlet and violet was just spend a few hours on the story and that’s it…

My longest hunt was with Yveltal in Pokémon Ultra Moon with over 4200 SRs but I also got it. Then after that I had hunted Kyogre and got it after 10 SRs and then I did Mewtwo and got it after 10 minutes after Kyogre and all in Ultra Moon. So that means 3 shiny Pokémon in one day. But I sat with Yveltal for over a week. And what was also crazy was a random shiny joltik in the sword and shield. I hadn't seen the little joltik in the grass and I accidentally walked in and it was the first joltik and it was Shiny. I just said when I saw it, "Wait, the eyes look strange...Is it shiny?" and exactly at that moment the shiny animation showed and I half freaked out because I had already gotten a shiny rook idea at the very beginning of the game after 162 SRs.

I actually got that shiny K. Vulpix in Motostoke Gym on Christmas eve launch year of Pokémon Shield on my first playthrough of the game without looking for a shiny at all. It was full odds as well, I was so happy. I caught her in a Heal Ball, and named her Biscuit. She's now in my main Pokémon Scarlet save file, and I believe I EV trained her, and gave her an ability patch to give her Drought. I remember my hype VIVIDLY.

im ok with shiny locking but just for the pokemon that there are just 1 like legendaries and most mytics but i think they should put a option where you can find em like "hey all pokemon can be shiny but these cant so we created the shiny version... now go trough an immense labirinth just to find 1" that way would be cool (the location and the maze would be randomized every time and you would be able to only see the path you are in)

The corvisquire was a recent discovery actually! I don’t even think serebii has it listed as a shiny locked Pokémon on their site yet! The eldegoss is a super cool hunt I want to try one day! There’s also a one time per save file crawdaunt in turffield that you can also hunt which is cool! But you need the upgraded bike that can go on water for that!

Closest I’ve had to a unique shiny hunt was when I hunted Hisuian basculin. Those things run away so fast… I’ve never successfully done a soft reset hunt. If I do, I’m thinking I’ll do it for an ultra beast like Buzzwole.

That's why I hate shiny lock. I'm currently shiny hunting every legendary / mythical pokemons available up to Ultra Sun/Ultra moon and a lot of them are not available outside events (or not at all like keldeo)

is that Star Vulpix one of the 1 in 16 million shinies? Because of the obsolete shiny code that runs first and checks, causing the second shiny check to get confused and discard the result or set it automatically to zero (square sparkles) meaning you need a shiny-of-a-shiny to get a Star Sparkle. I know there's only like 3 instances this happens- fishing as an example instance

These gym shinies favor star sparkles. So it’s a 15/16 chance for star sparkles. Notice how the Sizzlipede and litwick are also star sparkle
