I think people watching this on their tv have to use their remote control. This has happened to me in the past. I KNOW that I’ve hit “like” but will get so immersed in the video that I quickly scramble at the end to save & like & then find that I initially hit dislike instead of like. But then we know that there are some real stinkers out there in cyber-land.

Tried something like this years ago with special Tulip paints that were used to make puffy beads on fabric. The dots make beautiful designs and sparkle in the light. They've held up well if carefully packed. TFS😊

This is absolutely beautiful. And I have to say, every tiny imperfection made my day. When a line wasn't perfectly straight or something wasn't spaced like a machine did it, or she put an extra dot in because the spacing wasn't quite right... it made my day. Those are the things that I fault myself for way too hard. She's showing me that you don't have to be perfect to create something absolutely stunning. Nobody is going to notice the humanity of the piece. It's seen as a whole and the whole is wonderful. I may have found a craft that I can manage to do!
@TheDottingCenter3 жыл бұрын
Mistakes are things that should be welcomed and not feared. I learned that from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way. It’s a daily practice to be cool with mistakes and see where they lead you and I work at it. You’re so right about the tiny mistakes not making a bit of difference in the end. Thanks for your comment!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I learnt to dot paint about 25 years ago when folk art painting was all the rage. We used the ends of our folk art brushes. The first dot after dipping it in paint was always the largest and then the size of the dots would decrease for the next 3-4 dots before it was time to reload the end of the brush. I love this idea of using different sized nozzles and the paint bottle being attached. I might have to buy some more ornaments after Christmas for a January bonanza of dotting!

WOW, what an absolutely brilliant tutorial so clear when explaining & demonstrating the addition of the background noise to me is what HOMEMADE CRAFTS/TUTORIALS are all about...REAL PEOPLE at home showing something different & most importantly ACHIEVABLE & AFFORDABLE for those who may be unable to leave their home due to child care, disability, illness etc & if the demonstrater can make a bit of money along the way good on them & even better those learning from the tutorials can also make a little money by selling what they make. I thank you for a lovely enjoyable tutorial I'm definitely going to give it a go 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I love your tuts so much I had to purchase some practice glass ornaments from the thrift store so I can learn how to do this. I have a lot of beautiful plastic purple, white and pink balls like the ones in this video and want to use them but they need just what you are teaching. The ONLY thing that I can't handle is the screaming. It is ear piercing to those of us who are way past raising kids and not used to it. You might want to consider either filming when your son is asleep or do music over it and closed captions for instructions. You do a great job with the details of how to get the lines straight and decorating. Your work is stunning!
@TheDottingCenter3 жыл бұрын
You must have had management training. You give perfect constructive feedback! Thank you for that. You’ve got that classic formula for good feedback. The “Oreo” method of positive / negative/ positive comments. Trust me, the kids in the background won’t happen again. I’ve been beat up for 1 year from about a dozen people who can’t handle 10 seconds of kid noise. The feedback has been heard and the lesson is learned. 😜 Thanks again.

I love watching these with you! I've been to your etsy shop too. lovelovelove what and HOW you do your art. I started doing dot art 1 1/2 yrs ago. I was using the bottles and tips, too. But stopped because I asked a few questions and said I was doing this art a "Dis-service" by not doing them the proper way with the tools. I had the tools also, but what a time saver not having to go back an forth back and forth for paint! I mean...work smarter not harder! But, I stopped after several chats. I already had paint and brushes, the whole toolbox. I just tucked away the dot tools and the plastic bottles. Fell onto- watched your video...I told my husband-- OMG! SOMEBODY ELSE GOT SMARTER AND IS USING THE BOTTLES!! Fastfwrd couple of weeks.... QUESTION Yuo did the measuring based on the center already placed--so you know it's acurate. Ummm...ideas for glass balls? I can't get them centered, and 1 by 1 creates dots on the tree.... LOL.......Love your input....
@TheDottingCenter4 жыл бұрын
All artists work differently and the best way for you is the way you get the best results. I'm with you - artists should support each other and share what works for them instead of judging. That's why KZbin is so fun because you can see with your own eyes what works and try it for yourself : ) I didn't measure to get the center of the bauble I just kind of guessed but you could measure that would be a good idea. My bauble was plastic, so there was a seam that made it easy. Glass won't have a seam so you just have to pick a spot. I hope that helps! Have fun!
@mala3isity4 жыл бұрын
Ohhh, me, me...I've got an idea. Pearled pine trees? Larger to smaller from stem up and out, connect bottom stem large dots with arcs of teeny dots. String of teeny dots around top, attach with a long bauble 35:31 to top of tree (looks like tree topper). Maybe pearlized paint in a different color drizzled on the inside? kzbin.info/www/bejne/porFpJqaZsqVbqc Or use faux stained glass paint (Mix about 3 tablespoons of clear glue to a few drops of acrylic paint). Or alcohol ink laced with a metallic to make faux mercury glass. Just off the top of my head. LOL

I am working on this to add to my Christmas ornaments that I am selling this weekend. Not going to be perfect the first time, but it's a learning process, or as I call most things, it's an experiment that can go either way. *laughs* I normally pour resin, but with the colder temperatures my resin has not been nice to me, so I am switching it up and adding new elements to my business. I have a bag full of clear ball ornaments that are begging to be used and this is one of the things I am going to do. I love the ornaments! If boys are quite when they are playing, then you have to worry. It is usually the opposite with girls!

Haha! YES that is an actual fact. Quiet boys are always up to something 😂
@amethyst18264 жыл бұрын
I feel the opposite for my lot. Lol
@aandrews91414 жыл бұрын
Actually, for us and our little family, it is the opposite lol... I have 3 kids... 2 girls and 1 boy... The boy was our "surprise" and ended up being the blessing I didn't even know I needed... Don't get me wrong, I of course think ALL of my kids are my life's biggest blessings, but I was so scared to find out I was having a 3rd child, and then even more terrified when I found out it was a boy, because I had always heard that boys are on the wilder side versus the girls... and my thought process was that if my girls are already off the chains, that I was going to be in big time trouble lol!?! Let's just say that my son is my calming peace 😂... I love them all with all my heart, and Thank God they are mine, but sometimes you wouldn't even know my son is here lol. And I don't have to worry about that with him either. He is the youngest (just turned 3 last week), yet somehow, he's the ONLY one that follows any rules at all, that picks up after himself already, and thankful doesn't have dramatic meltdowns every few minutes... my husband and I have an inside joke lol... when things get wild, I say, "It's time for me to go get me some Tucky loving for a minute" and then I have to just go hold him to not lose my crap!!! It is hard to explain the sense of calm he can bring, in what sometimes feels otherwise like I decided to run an insane asylum in my house 😂... I hope no one takes my statements wrong, but I am guessing if you are Mommas yourselves, then you can find the humor in what I said, and probably even know that feeling yourself!?! But here, it is definitely the girls that you gotta be concerned about when things go quiet!!!
@TheDottingCenter4 жыл бұрын
My little man is 3 too. He’s a maniac but I love him so much. Your son sounds like a sweet little angel. 💞 I will admit, everything went blurry when you said your 3 year old son picks up after himself already 😂 Mine picks up but he does it all mopey like a sloth. It does look intimidating, but once you get the chalk lines on it's easy peezy! I'm so glad you're trying it. I'll have more bauble designs on the way so stay tuned. I'd like to help you make a whole collection : )

Several years ago I painted dots on sweatshirts using pufffy paints. Can you use puffy paint on ornaments? Your work is beautiful.

Yes! Some puff paint isn’t as durable as the paint I use. Just try it out and do the fingernail test by pressing your nail into it. If it dents easily, it’s probably not going to last very long.

I found that 12ml syringes are great for cleaning out the tips, they fit perfectly, just suck up some water in them put on the tip and forcefully plunge the tip to clear out the paint, couple of times they will be spotless...
