Can confirm that TheVolgun is one of the best channels for SCP readings. I can only think of _one_ video that had an issue with it (SCP 3241), and that was both a relatively minor issue and not entire their fault (they missed a segment that provided some additional context to the situation around the SCP, but the segment was _after_ the article's footnotes, when the footnotes are usually the very last thing on the page).

@@theduckgoesmoo yeah, Volgun is a great souce of content for SCP. his descriptions of each SCP he does, which is all pretty much ripped straight from the SCP website that has literally over 5000 hand written descriptions and logs on these things, is amazing. another creator to watch, if you're interested in animated content, is definitely Dr. Bob, starting from his very first video. Dr. Bob is a youtube channel where just like Volgun, it's one guy talking about the SCPS, along with animated story involved with the scps and the vlogs of scientists talking and stuff, but also tells it like it's an actual documentary.

stick with stuff from TheVolgun for any future SCP stuff unless people suggest specific videos, like overlord, or 096, etc. Sadly the open nature of SCP means a lot of content farms exist for it. BTW, not all SCP content is considered scary. There's wholesome stuff too, like 999, 5031, 2294. There's also more esoteric stuff like 294, 914, and 3008. Oh, quick breakdown Safe- if you can put it in a box and forget about it euclid- if you have to lock the box and check on it regularly keter- if you have to put the box in a bigger box, lock both, and keep a close eye on it thaumiel- it is the box. Archon- It's better we don't put it in a box. Apollyon- There is not a box in the world that we can put this in. Pray it doesn't rear it's head.

The Exploring Series has always been a fantastic channel, same with Mr. Illustrated. I actually prefer The Exploring Series a lot of the time, just because he actually goes into relevant lore and other SCPs when necessary. Also, Dr. Maxwell’s SCP Readings has some good stuff. One of the old time creators, both on and off the wiki. Dude’s been around FOREVER.

What’s interesting is that the Object Classes are not based on danger, just the difficulty of containment. Completely benevolent entities like 4999 (a mysterious entity that is always in 4-5 places around the world with the sole intent of ensuring that people don’t die alone) are Keter because the all Foundation can do to keep him from revealing the anomalous is scrub cameras whenever he appears in a hospital, which is almost literally 24/7, while *numerous* things that could cause mass destruction are considered Safe because you’d need to go out of your way to open the box for that to matter.

The Volgun and The Exploring Series are the best channels by far imo (mr illustrated is good too) The volgun is basically reading off the original articles themselves, while the exploring series is more of explaining the SCPs, or things important to the SCP verse, like certain important figures such as the scarlet king, or groups of interest such as the church of the broken god.

Edits for clarification: I recommend keep sticking with TheVolgun for his narrative explanations, but some other related content creators I recommend for SCPs is The Exploring Series & MR.ILLUSTRATED (formerly named SCP ILLUSTRATED) The Exploring Series is nice with in-depth explanations with most of these documentaries they do on the more auditorial side. Mr Illustrated has an amazing art style in his videos that go down from reading specific SCPs to ones where he makes multiple part series based on SCPs and specific SCP-001’s. His art style can beautifully reflect scenes that make sure you know what details there are.

something I wanna make sure you're aware of while the info in this video is still generally true it is also 6 years old and so there are A LOT MORE SCPs and the like this means that there is A LOT to potentially cover volgun is the best for direct reads mostly of the SCP files themselves, the exploring series is the best when you want a more large picture view of an SCP but he also goes over other part and Mr illustrated probably does the best at covering most tales directly and giving some art, for the whole "make a universe" idea you had that's basically right there are basically sets of scps on the wiki that fit together in such a way

TheVolgun is a good channel for lore. There are also some good short films. Like "096", which I'd recommend watching a video about that scp before watching the film. these also "Overlord" and "Dollhouse" which aren't based on any existing SCP, but very well made films.

The video seemed to forget about a few of the object classes, namely, the Apollyon object class; anomalies that cannot be contained, are expected to breach containment imminently, or some other similar scenario, and are usually associated with world-ending threats possibly universe/reality altering events of some kind, and require a massive effort from the Foundation to deal with. Some interesting ones to look into of this class are SCP-001 When Day Breaks (one of the proposals for SCP-001, this is S. D. Locke's, they all have different cool names, this one is about an event involving the Sun) and SCP-3999 (a semi-meta narrative about a reality-restructuring being, but also being about the author's frustration with the SCP writing process). This one's not Apollyon but I thought I should mention SCP-343, literally God, he's just God. That's it. It's kind of hilarious. To better understand the object classes the SCP wiki has the box analogy: If you can lock it in a box and leave it alone and nothing bad happens, it's Safe. If you can lock it in a box and leave it alone and you're not sure what will happen, it's Euclid. If you can lock it in a box and leave it alone and it easily escapes, it's Keter. If it *is* the box, it's Thaumiel. If there is no box secure enough to lock it in, it's Apollyon.

Due to the license that SCP exists under, any big studio production will probably never happen. The closest that exist to one are either inspired by (like I've heard Control is) or completely accidental (Cabin in the Woods). The anomaly classification has received an update since this video, and it will mostly be starting to apply in the 5000s (series 6). The new system separates ease of containment (classic main three), level of reality distortion, and average damage done by the thing. Volgun has a video explaining it from around the time the change was being made, but I forget the name of the video off the top of my head.

The SCP universe is unbelievably huge, there are countless SCPs that are out there in almost as many different styles and genres, from the cute (SCP-999) to the hilarious (SCP-504) to the downright disturbing (SCP-231). However there are a few SCPs which are probably the most famous and that are some of the best to start with. SCP-173 (The first ever written), SCP-096, SCP-049, SCP-106, SCP-3008, SCP-682, SCP-035, SCP-610, SCP-294 and SCP-001 (When Day Breaks) are probably the top ten most iconic. All are excellent examples of SCP concepts and basically anyone who knows the franchise will at least be aware of them. TheVolgun is probably the best SCP channel, though if you wanted to look at others the other two best are 'The Exploring Series' and 'Mr. Illustrated', the former being more akin to TheVolgun's style of explaining things while Mr. Illustrated tends to tell stories from the SCP universe. For the first dip into the SCP Universe I'd recommend either 096 (If you'd prefer something scarier) or 294 (If you'd prefer something funnier).

I may be late to this video but it’s awesome to finally see you getting into SCP! Be prepared, you’re entering one of weirdest and most complex pieces of fiction I’ve ever seen. You’ll see everything from monsters, to unfathomable gods, to concepts and alternate universes, to individuals capable of playing with reality as if it’s silly putty. And from all of that, sometimes you’ll encounter six sided dice that occasionally lands on a seven. The SCP franchise is so packed and diverse it can’t be called ‘just a horror series.’ There’s a little bit of everything. Horror, comedy, mystery, drama, Sci-fi, fantasy, over the top anime style action, and plenty more. I really hope you continue watching videos but the volgun and exploring series, as they tell the stories and inner workings of this world better than any others. One great thing about SCP is the licensing regulations. Long story short, everyone is allowed to use all SCP content in their own works, even commercially, as long as they give credit and allow others to use their work in the same way. Oh man ever if you’ve never seen any scp you’ve experienced it. SCPs have influenced shit ton of media over the years. Also going with volgun is a kick ass choice he does great SCP content. He narrates as if he is giving a briefing to foundation staff in universe so it makes the experience hella immersive

The four major reliable and worthwhile SCP channels to watch on YT are: TheVolgun: SCP videos are done in a style of a researcher (Doctor Millar) performing lectures for Foundation personnel on specific SCPs. His format is the most 'pure' when compared to reading the wiki, as the lecture is based around Doctor Millar reading the actual wiki file. His videos feature stellar voice work (Volgun himself often does up to a half dozen distinct voice in a single video), minor visuals (usually one or two images of the SCP in question), and sometimes are done in amazingly evocative ways. A favorite on his channel is the video for SCP-2316 (Field Trip). Dr. Bob: Of all the various channels that do animated SCP videos, Dr. Bob's is the only one that has remained reliable and consistent in its quality over the years. His videos are usually to the point about each SCP but come at it from the perspective of the Dr. Bob character who is an outsider investigating into the SCP Foundation and spreading what information he can to the general public (the viewers). Mr. Illustrated (formerly SCP Illustrated): This channel takes on more of a 'tales' flavor, going in depth for a handful of major SCPs and giving them an almost cinematic take. Each SCP dive is done across multiple videos and revolves not around the SCP file format from the wiki but a more cinematic take on specific events in the SCP universe. The series of 'What happened to Site 13' and 'SCP-001 When day breaks' are phenomenal. The Exploring Series: Not for beginners to the SCP universe. These videos go into major depth often of SCPs that are not usually focused on in other channels. The videos go far beyond what is covered in the wiki files, often delving into a level of detail reserved for serious academic debate. I personally find them to be great background viewing while doing other things.

If you dont like to read wiki (most people dont like it) TheVolgun SCP videos are basically wiki text in audio form with good voice acting and ambience. Thats why he is often recommended because its most accurate way to experience SCPs without reading.

The Volgun is a very great way to start with SCP readings. There are so many SCPs but some classics to start with are SCP-173, -096, -049, -106, and -999. Happy Reading! 📖

SCP 001 there is actually multiple 001s, reason being the fountation doesnt want you to know what is the real SCP-001 but also every SCO-001 is classified as "world ending scenarios" some other SCP that are great to look at SCP-458, 294, and 330!

3:02 if you're looking for SCP shows, there are quite a few really good community-made ones! others will definitely recommend you SCP: OVERLORD and SCP: Dollhouse. however, my personal favourite is a short series by andrea joshua asnicar called There Is No Antimemetics Division which is based off the series of the same name mentioned at 27:00. of course as many others have said, any of the volgun's videos are perfect to explore more scp stories without having to read the site yet. hope you continue to enjoy the SCP deepdive!

The volgun does alot of great scp and covers them as if he was a professor teaching a class of scp staff. SCP overlord and SCP dollhouse are two great ones, but SCP Ghosttown is enjoyable and so is SCp First contact. "Lord Bung Confinement" confinement series is a fun animated series of scp world bits and even has a nice song, "FIne and dandy". Scissor sisters has some decent scp and lovecraftian songs to react to.

Alongside TheVolgun, i would recommend The Exploring Series, too. As TheVolgun gives a lot more detail in the SCP's themselves, the Exploring series also summarizes and gives some of his input about the symbolism of some Scp's and other inputs about them.

What i love more is the Foundation-made SCPs. There is something more disturbing about the fact that the SCP is not something discovered or occult but was created through either unintended consequence or plain human tomfoolery in venturing too deep into the anomalous. SCP-2419 is my favorite, its sort of anti-climactic start since unit C is designated to handle non-anomalous objects and it is THE SCP-2419.

if you're still reading comments: I recommend checking out SCP-7200 Volgun's got a video on it, but it's short enough that you could just quickly read over it it's a simple SCP, but clever in execution
