I think that money it`s not a problem, the problem is a fact that politicians are elected every particular amount of time. This situation lead to populism in order to be reelected. So, in my opinion we should create a system where the politicans hold their post for a long time but the citizens have constnast control over them.

A major flaw in citizens' assemblies is that they over-represent the voices of those who have too much free time. Full-time workers will never want to add stress to their lives with an extra civic responsibility that demands an important amount of effort.

So... basically having newer representatives talk to our representatives. Citizen assemblies are an ancient idea because back then you could gather everyone who legally had a voice in one room. In the modern progressive world there has to be a better way to disseminate power to the individual than by adding an extra layer of representation to the mix

In elections, have a "none of the above" box to tick. Represent those countervotes by empty seats that do not make it any easier to get a majority in your House/Chamber. This means that if your Chamber has 150 seats, you still need 76 votes for a simple majority or 100 for a qualified one.

For the US: 1. Get rid of all incumbents 2. Investigate them for corruption, inside trading, sweetheart deals or any foreign influence including espionage (especially from China and Israel) 3. Jail those found guilty and blackball them from government and other sensitive posts 4. Reform the civil service, lobbying practices and clean out the careerists at the pentagon. 5. Make term limits for congress and judges a constitutional amendment. No one over the age of 72 should serve as a supreme court justice. 6. The first task of any new politician should be to audit the financial transactions of their predecessor while they were in office. This should be a law if it is not already. 7. End the fed/bring back sound money. New sound money should be exclusively coined by congress. Yearly economic audits should be done and made publicly available. 8. Make it a requirement for political candidates at all levels of government to release their tax returns. 9. Limit the power of the president to unilaterally sign foreign treaties without the consent of congress. 10. Call a constitutional convention every 19/20 years (during a non election year) to give citizens the chance to decide any new major constitutional questions. Feel free to add more

The major problem with any political system is that, in order to maintain its legitimacy and base of public trust, it must be stable. The consequence of this view on politics is that such systems are per definition *static.* Corrupting and malicious agents will, over time, learn to use the system to their own ends, and rig it in their favor; it is a sort of political entropy in which any system, no matter how perfect at first, will become a corrupted shell of itself. I would think that a more dynamic way of designing a system would hamper the efforts of such actors to abuse the stability of the system - but I have no idea what such a system would look like, to be perfectly honest.

Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy? One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind. I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist. So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark. In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all. The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise. Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct. Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.

Yes there would need to be a mechanism for politicians to respect the decision of a citizen assembly and to provide a reason if they don't agree with the assembly's decision. For example in Toronto there have been numerous public consultations about public transit involving subject matter experts but the real decisions are made on the fly by election campaign teams who know nothing about it.

There should be a system of scoring politicians using credentials like transparency, education, morals, experience, probability of financial benefits from office, attitude on peace etc... if higher scoring individuals are elected the system will improve itself eventually in favor of majority of people not a certain small group

Who decides on what issues are debated? And what information is made available for those random citizens to figure out a solution. It also can be played with by the people with the real power and information.

This is representative democracy in its infancy, without politicians. Eventually, this process will devolve into influential citizens in charge - welcome back to the same problems as the established legislatures. Term limits and automatic runoff voting would be more effective in the long run.

I've been involved in local politics, trying to involve the comunity in decision makings. My most relevant finding is that most people don't want to really participate. Most of the time they believe that their duty is to complain and point out everything that's wrong. I believe that attitude is a consequence of our current political dinamics in which politicians tell us that they'll save us from all harm and pull us out of poverty without us doing anything.

Replaced with what? A bad government is better than no government. I would have thought 2020 of all years demonstrated this pretty well. Imagine if there had been nobody to co-ordinate the pandemic response. However bad you think your country's response was, it was still way better than doing nothing (ie what would have happened without a government) would have been. Or take Iraq. Saddam Hussein was one of the most evil people of his generation, and he was directly responsible for the persecution of millions. And yet, Iraqis suffered even worse in the power vacuum that followed his overthrow, than they had during his reign of tyranny. The only thing worse than politicians is the absence of politicians.

The essence of the problem is the opposition between the capitalist and the proletariat. With the development of automation and the Internet, more and more people has lose their jobs, and all the money is concentrated in the hands of a few rich people. All existing political systems simply can't solve this core problem. Most politicians need campaign funds, and they are basically representatives of interest groups. They can only talk about environmental protection, human rights, freedom and LGBTQ etc. This is also the reason why Sanders got lot of support in the US.

3 things would dramatically improved democracy. Compulsory voting, preferential voting and the removal of any reference to parties on the ballot. If you have to engage with the system (even if it is just to return a spoiled ballot) things improve. Also if your MP had to engage with you to the level were you remember their name they would have to focus on issues that matter to you, not things that matter to their party. I honestly think the biggest problem in politics of any nation is minority rule, doesn’t matter if you are democratically elected or a king, if you represent a small group of the nation the system doesn’t work. Right now politicians represent their party not the people which is totally wrong.

How about restoring it the same way you would any human relationship? Reject coercion and deceit as means of making some people's lives better, honor freely acquired rights and obligations, respect freely, that is without coercion or deceit, acquired property, and equitably compensating for damages? That is what healthy societies need as a foundation, then maybe, without trying to coerce people into it, we could go beyond what is absolutely necessary for reciprocity and peaceful collective action to encouraging ethics and altruism.
