@@TheeDrumWorkshop it's just a general observation that there's a lack of videos of this type, offering instruction / tips on programming. I have been using electronics since the 80's and have my own work-around's, but I simply don't have time,space or video equipment to make videos myself. I'm happy someone is doing it.

Nice Video! I found the factoy Snares also very harsch. I sold my TD50 for a mimic at least. The primitive sample ovelay feature was not state of the art in the TD50. Nice to see that you used one of my samples too for overlay. :-)
@TheeDrumWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching mate! Yeah, I can understand why you would want to swap for the Mimic, it's a beast. I've seen a lot of disappointment with the 50 and gathered because I'd found some stuff I liked, I may as well share for those who are sticking with it! And yeah, I love that sample for 80s stuff or as a fat snare on heavy rock! You just have to accept it won't sound "natural" with the limitations and try to play to its strengths really.

Thanks Luke - I will be layers more of my snare sounds for better sounds and more impact. I don't own a TD 50 but I played one this week at a friends and noticed the sounds were a little thin. Based on that experience I am considering a TD27 and a conversion snare which has a built in cross stick. Do you have any suggestions Luke or anyone else for a snare drum that is 3 Zone (excluding Yamaha)....Would love to find a solution. I did see a 4 Zone snare on KZbin with positional sensing which sounded better than most snare drums. Thanks for any and all suggestions. Paul

@@NickBukey Happy to help! From what I've read, a lot of people are finding it hard to get what they want out of the TD-50, especially compared to the TD-30 and the like. I think the scope is there, it just takes a lot more tinkering than some people would like to do!
@NickBukey5 жыл бұрын
Yeah! So many options for customisation. I’ve got Generations too. Have to do a bit more editing. Also haven’t found great tom 1 and 2 sounds either. Sometimes, the sounds on the 50 don’t sound that great individually but sound really good when they sit behind a track.
@TheeDrumWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
@Nick Bukey Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the sounds being a bit odd on their own but mixing well with music. That seems to be a Roland characteristic. The preset I've linked to has the best tom sounds I've managed to come up with that work well underneath other toms as layers. You have to get the tunings and sustains right when layering them though otherwise it gets a bit wild!

I would love to see a video on the Mimic snares and how to get a great sound. It seems like a lot of the video's ive seen, the Mimic seems to have a 'thin' sounding snare. I'd love to get your take on getting a variety of snare sounds. I currently have a TD30 but considering an upgrade.

Sounds like a good shout, I'll see what I can do! I've done a video on achieving a snares wires off sound, a reggae snare and a timbale snare with the Mimic already if you want an idea of the versatility of some of the sounds, but a "thick" or "heavy" snare tutorial should be possible! Thanks

This super helpful. Will the linked kit work on td-50x?
@TheeDrumWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Hey! Glad you found it useful. Unfortunately the kit file won't work on the 50X, no - any kits made on the original software won't work on the X as the sounds and settings were all overhauled. Sorry about that! The 50X has many more "usable" snares than the original TD-50 software in my opinion though and I think it's much easier to get a good sound by layering different ones than it used to be.

I don't own a TD-50, I have the TD 27 and TD 17. I'm searching around to find different ideas to make great snares and how to utilize the positional sensing on the snare to get a better feel along with the sound. I basically want better rim shots !!!!! Hehehehehehe I feel like this is what I can't find. Although, my downfall is getting distracted, not finishing the sound I wanted to emulate, and just want to play the drums and not fidget around...lol I'm like a fuse that gets lit. I only have a few minutes of nerd time before I just start playing, so I never find what I'm looking for. Haaaaaaa I should disconnect the module and the snare and only have those 2 in front of me. Not kidding, I tied my legs together with my shoe laces and put my other arm in my pocket. That actually didn't work...lol First test, I wasn't satisfied with the snare, but that was it. Never stopped playing to fix it... That's the closest I got. I'm running out of options !!! Hahahahahahaha Thanks for the input though dude !!! Great drumming by the way ! Appreciate the tips ! :-)
