I haven‘t got my Td-27 yet, but I‘m already watching & collecting your videos. Excellent explanations. Thx so much. Subscribed.

Great video. I liked the explanations of layering and eq, and your tight playing. You even layered your haircut as well!

Thanks for letting me know about this video, nice job, started playing edrums live right the TD50 came out, has been a lot of trial and error, but overall the bands, sound guys and me have been very happy. Keep up the great videos

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! It's great that all of you have been happy with your kit sounds, I think we might be the lucky few there 😅 My aim is to try and help turn that few into many!

Really enjoyed this tutorial. Please continue making them. There very informative. Your giving me hope that I didn’t make a $2500 mistake by purchasing the TD-50. I was surprised and very disappointed that I didn’t get any useable kits or sounds right out of the box. As of right now the thing is completely unplayable. Think I’m gonna have to pull out the TD-25 if I wanna put in some practice time in. Roland, get your act together. Any tutorials for the cymbals, toms & kicks would be much appreciated. Cheers, mate.

Glad you liked it! I definitely need to get stuck into making another tutorial at some point, thanks for the suggestions! The disappointment about stock kits seems to be pretty universal, unfortunately. It takes quite a lot of time and patience to get results which is frustrating when the lower-spec modules sound better out of the box. I do have some kits available on my store for a quick fix if you wanted. The ones I have up at the moment are based on big, punchy modern records, but taking down the ambience fader and turning off the transient settings can make them sound pretty natural too - the snares have samples of acoustic snares I recorded. Food for thought but I understand paying out more on top of the module isn't for everyone. The tutorial videos are unfortunately the most time consuming to make and not that many people watch them, but I'll definitely try to get another out focusing on other aspects of the kit when I have chance!

Oh and there's another tutorial here, if you haven't seen it (though it's snares again) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWKlh6Kmrrt1psU There's a link in the description to a free download of a layering kit that I created that might help you with settings for the kick and toms as a reference point if you look through the settings. Hope that helps!

The eDrum Workshop Yeah, I’ve got a lot of home work to do that’s for sure. Glad to have your videos as reference. I’ll be studying and taking notes. Hopeful they’ll guide me in the right direction. Might just have to get some of your kits. Really like the work you’ve done into making them. Anyways,that’s Roland for you , first they empty your wallet than they make you have to get a PhD in sound!

😂 that's a great way of putting it! Thanks though, really appreciate it and hope that you manage to get what you want out of the module! It's really capable, just doesn't give you many hints on how to work it to its potential.

I love your videos! I wish you had a td 30 so I could follow. I don't have the knowledge to understand 😬 but I am getting a better sound

Ahh, wish I could give more TD-30-specific advice :( Some of the ideas here will definitely help, but this is more for layering sounds. Some of the other more general videos might help too - the "Optimize your eDrums" videos specifically. If I ever get chance to use a 30, I'll try to make a video on it! Glad that your sound is improving regardless!

Could you explain the Dynamic Enhancer? I have looked everywhere it seems but I can't find any information on it. Thank you.

Weirdly, the manual doesn't talk about it, only the TD-50 Data List. What it says in there is that it "specifies whether the sense of strong strikes is enhanced (ON) or not enhanced (OFF)". And that's literally it. In practice, it doesn't really feel like it does much - the only thing I can really hear that it does is ever so slightly change the tone and the feel of the loudness of the highest velocities. Makes it feel a tiny bit more "in your face", but it's really subtle when I've used it so it doesn't really feel like it makes much difference. I tend to just leave it on but I can't imagine you'd notice much either way when playing.

@@TheeDrumWorkshop Cool man thanks for the reply and info. I have tried it both on and off and I wasn't sure if I could tell a difference.
@TheeDrumWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
No worries! Yeah, it makes so little difference that I kind of wonder why they bothered with it!

Hey, would you make 5 live kits for coverband on td 27? For a fee. The disco roland has very poor sets at the factory.
@TheeDrumWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Custom kits are something I've been thinking about offering but haven't fully ironed out the details. If you drop me an email (email address is on the About page of my channel or there's a contact form on the website) with full details of what you're looking for in terms of style/setup etc, we can discuss it. Wouldn't want to throw out a price without knowing exactly what you're after. Cheers!
