@TheeDrumWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the kind words! I did a video a little while ago about my Yamaha "hi hats" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYGbmqaHq7RjfdE But the reason I use it is that I wanted a 13" cymbal for my hi-hats, they were cheaper than Roland so thought I'd try one out and stuck with it!

Great video, will have a play with the transients on my TD-27, was wondering how to reduce the decay on the stock splash (12" I think) cymbals when you dial down the size to 4 or 6", it just sounds so wrong with a loooong decay! Toms and snare may get some treatment too, thanks Luke ;-)

So would it be safe to say once you’ve selected your drums heads and tuning if you’re wanting to increase maybe attack or tone a little more you should maybe adjust the transient before you go to EQ or effect or should you do transit after you mess with EQ and effect if they’re still not where you want the sound to be thank you

Your explanations are easy to understand. Are these related to the Curve functions in older modules in any way?
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! I'm not sure if I'm familiar with a "curve" function, unless you mean the velocity curves in the trigger settings? If you do mean that, no - they're very different things. The velocity curves are all about trigger performance and how the velocities "scale" with your playing. If you meant something else, apologies!

Hi I have the Roland TM2, and I would love to use it with my Roland Um-one mk2 usb midi interface. so I can use Abbey Road Drummer Collection, I have seen a German video of a guy who does it with NI Kontakt player. any of you that have tried it?
@photographerjonathan

I'm sure this video is helpful for people. but Roland should have amazingly realistic sounding drum sets right out of the box with no adjustments needed. there is no excuse for Roland drums not sounding as good as superior drummer. or other electronic drum makers. especial with the price they get for there upper line kits.

Can your kits on the website work with the TM6Pro?
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 9 ай бұрын
Not the kits, no. They only work with the module they were designed for and I don't own a TM-6 PRO to develop for. The sample packs will work (The eDW Snare eLements and Kick eLements). These are quite different though and are designed to be layered with existing electronic or acoustic sounds to "boost" their character.

Great videos. I have just factory reset my TD-30 to give it another shot before I decide whether to keep it or sell it. I find I use it as a tool for learning and rehearsing but not so much playing it for joy of playing. Question though... I have always found that the sounds and response of the pads are not as immediate as my acoustic kit. This is obvious because acoustic vs electric but it's too much for me. Unfortunately my TD-30 does not have the transient designer function. Would the scan time function be somewhat equivalent to this? (Not the hold/release settings but the attack) Even a similar result in a roundabout way could be all that I need. Cheers
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan. Sorry for the long delay, I didn't see this comment back when you posted it. Unfortunately, the scan time and these transient settings are completely different things. Changing the scan time can affect the speed at which the sounds will trigger, but you can only go so low with it before it will give you bad trigger response (due to it not having enough time to properly analyse the wave). The closest function to the Transient settings that your TD-30 will have is Compression. If you set a slightly slower attack time on the compressor (such as 14 - 20ms) and then adjust the threshold and ratio to taste, this will let the transient of the sound through the compressor before it starts reducing the volume of the sound which, in turn, increases the attack of the transient compared to the now-compressed tail of the sound. It's a bit more of a balancing act between settings and you might need to adjust the output gain on the compressor to compensate for any volume changes caused by the compression, but that might be the best place to look if the "immediacy" of the sounds you're looking for is purely sonic (as opposed to being due to the triggering itself). I hope that helps.

Hello, was wondering if you all have made any kits for the TD07?
@TheeDrumWorkshop

Unfortunately the TD-07 has no way of loading or sharing kits (no SD card slot or USB transfer ability for settings), so it wasn't possible to make any for the store while I had it.

Thanks for info on the tweaking of the module. It's really informative. I've the Td30kv for years, and till today still stuggling tweaking those eq and compression knobs to find my preference. Your info on the attack and release give quite some reference. I like my setting to be be boomy, on the ambience, I normally like the Rock Club, roim size huge (80)concrete wall. The mic setting is low which gives good bottom for the overall sound. This is particularly good for kick. Sound out from the headphone (roland rh-300v) is great. But the PA just not as punchy. I'm using and old yamaha emx2000 and spv1150 (? Not really sure about the model). Still wondering whether the insufficien power is due to my setting or the pa is too old. Pls advise. Thank you
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, glad there was some useful info in here for you. I can't really say much about your PA/power situation as I'm not familiar with those speakers and don't have experience with a TD-30 module either. I do have an EQ video already up on the channel and I will be doing future videos on compression and ambience, so hopefully they'll help when they are released.

Really enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. I would have a question if I may. I recently bought the TD-27. I have a problem recording MIDI which I didn't have with mu old DTX900. I'm a little dated in my laptop - still on Windows 7.... My DAW is Cakewalk by bandlab and I mostly use MT-power drumkit for recording. Cakewalk recognizes theTD-27 and it triggers well except for the hi-hat. It does not recognize stick hits. I understand that there is no driver available for Windows 7. Basically, is Windows 7 the culprit? Thanks and keep up the good work.
@TheeDrumWorkshop
@TheeDrumWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! To be honest, I'm not sure due to not using any othe components you are (I don't use Cakewalk, I'm on Windows 8.1 at the workshop). It does seem weird that it would only be certain aspects that don't work on your setup though - if it was the OS, I would imagine it wouldn't work at all. The driver only specifically deals with the audio/interface function of the module though - the MIDI should work fine on any computer that can accept "class compliant" MIDI devices, which your machine should. It sounds more like a MIDI note or channel issue to me, but it's difficult to say without using it myself. I'd have a look over the MIDI note assignments for note numbers on your module (can't remember the exact buttons off the top of my head but you should be able to find it in the manual) and see if it corresponds to the same MIDI notes your DAW/software is expecting. Other than that, I'm not 100% sure.
