The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Jane had a bar she owned here in Sedona, Az that was so much fun to visit. Once Jane and Eartha Kitt both smashed hung on each other singing one night. She had a tiny two seater sport car she'd drive like the wind all over the valley. She was very nice to everyone and absolutely beautiful even without make up on.

She was terrific in those tough brunette roles she did on film, especially in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes(1953), the star-making film for Marilyn Monroe. 😁😁😁😁😁

I saw her in Company as well, 1970, my first Broadway show. After the matinee on the street she signed my program. The first autograph of a star for me.

Nice job. I knew she did a lounge nightclub act and recorded a couple of albums but this is the first time I have seen her live. Nice job Jane..

Thanks for this Jane Russel video on Ed’s show, she has a nice voice which went superb with that outfit. I also remember her “Playtex “ bra commercials as a kid and wondered why mom didn’t want me watching them…😂! Have a great day!

Does anyone else recall those "Playtex" girdle commercials from the late 1960's into the early 1970's? "Wait! We can't go, I forgot my girdle! Oh never mind, I have it on!" I turned twelve in 1968 and could not (for the life of me) figure out what the hell a girdle was for.
