We still haven’t made many connections in our town, even after living here almost ten years. We’ve hosted many gatherings but rarely get invitations in return. I’ve travelled a lot and some places have such a “good feeling” for me others not so much. I know one can be happy anywhere, but lately, I’ve been feeling a pull to move on to one of these “good feeling” places. Thanks for the video. 🙏😊

Thank you Shaye, I think after watching your journey on this channel, this is by far the best vlog. It is timely because I have had many days of feeling flat but going forward. Yes, with walks and fellowship. Harvesting, cooking and sharing. Even with this, I question my purpose - today before seeing your vlog, I decided it was exactly what I have been doing, right now is my purpose. Being in and part of my community. A group of us open our homes every month for a lunch - here at the farm we opened to volunteers to work but also take the produce they grow home. Put seed packets together so they can grow their own - not just food but flowers. All along the way I kept thinking - this is so small. Till one of our lunch ladies said to me that this fellowship saved her last year. I was so happy - then I realized, it has saved me too. On line communities save people - access to new ideas and places, people doing the same or different. We are miles apart - but we are not so distant to say - thank you and keep your home open, your heart open to us. We truly appreciate you and your family x

Love to your family, such a hard thing. You are right though, it is a blessing to still have her. If she is able to remember, ask her to share stories of her early life. I have very fond memories of the tales my grandmother only told after she forgot the more recent past. Stories of my father as a very young child came back to her vividly then. Intimate memories of her courtship by my grandfather were fun to share with friendly "strangers" instead of feeling awkward while staring into the eyes of her children. Enjoy her as she is, happy mother's day to you.

The Bible nowhere instructs believers in Christ to pray to anyone other than God. The Bible nowhere encourages, or even mentions, believers asking individuals in heaven for their prayers. Why, then, do many Catholics pray to Mary and/or saints such as Gertrude, Rita, Sylvester, Vincent, Agnes, etc.? Why do they petition the dead to request their prayers? Catholics view Mary and the saints as “intercessors” before God. They believe that a saint, who is glorified in heaven, has more “direct access” to God than we sinners do from our earthly vantage point. In Catholic thinking, if a saint delivers a prayer to God, it is more effective than our praying to God directly. This concept is blatantly unbiblical. Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we, believers here on earth, have direct access to God and can “approach the throne of grace with confidence.”

This is my favorite video ever. My son is a cancer survivor and I know well the heaviness of watching kids being taken by that horrid monster. I know the little girl you speak of and I think of her often. RIP sweet girl💔

Something that has helped my family through some pretty tough times is knowing we are not alone. Isaiah 41:10 really assured us that the help we need is just a prayer away. "Faith is the assured expectation of what is hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities that are not seen ." Hebrews 11:1

We lost our jobs feb/March 2020 (lay offs) and my job as a dental hygienist. Then weeks later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm fine now after 2 surgeries and a month of daily radiation. In the mean time, My children have developed anxiety and depression after trying to learn remotely for a year with ADHD. And then we recently lost our most beloved friend at the end of feb 2021. He was 52. We are devastated and so tired emotionally/mentally. We will be buying a farm in a couple years- and are so excited to build an outdoor kitchen, a fun shooting range for friendly competitions at 25/50/100 yards, a fire pit and eating area and an observatory with a telescope. Plus a couple outbuildings for our wood (hubby) & metal (me) workshops, And a yoga/art studio. 💜😍 ~Life IS STILL beautiful and full of hope. Thanks for sharing!

I am almost 66, have been devoted to God, since I was seven years old. In 2018 lost my precious daughter 18 years old, she had CHF nobody knew about it, including doctors. The only thing that come down my anger is my big garden, where I pray and talk and fight with God, for almost 3 years asking why he would hurt me so deeply. A lot dreams where I was watching my daughter been baptized by Jesus, she’s always in a beautiful bride 👰‍♀️ gown, anyway, I think doing something you love to do is the key to help yourself comes down anxiety or internal pain.

OMG, herb butter! Yes! I think it was your herb salt video that started me doing this. I pick random herbs from around my yard(I've got lots), chop them up & toss them in a bowl of softened butter & mix it up. Boom! Super tasty herb butter that works great for garlic bread, sandwiches, mixed in with pasta. 😋

Everything about your video is wonderful except the killing of the baby lamb for dinner. How sad. She was just a baby. How can you call that peaceful? You call your dinner "homegrown lamb" like she is a plant. Why not speak the truth and call your dinner "slaughtered baby lamb"? This makes me so sad.

I'm so sorry to hear about the losses your friends have had and also how it grieved you so. It is so natural to feel sad for friends who are facing bereavement and I know that as Christians who have God's Spirit that those losses can penetrate our souls even more so. We are commanded in Scripture to weep with those who weep. Rejoice with those who rejoice Romans 12:15 so you did the right thing to griev with/for them but also by God's enabling it was turned into an opportunity to comfort comfort them with good company and food. 🙏

We lost our daughter to brain cancer almost 5 years ago. I had an experience where I felt totally abandoned by most of my family just a few months ago. I'm currently at a clinic in California doing a 40 day water fast. It's to help heal my body and soul. I know things can be heavy, but don't stop caring. Don't be afraid to carry some grief--- your own or that of your loved ones. It is a temporary burden, but it refines us so perfectly. I wish I'd known better how to carry other people's burdens many years ago. Jesus teaches us perfectly how to do this. I'm sure you'll continue to be there for your friends. That's where you'll experience the beauty of charity and the miracle of soul mending.

Just love your videos because they are calming but yet bring conviction as a Christian. I am trying to get more confident with hospitality and to not allow it to be burdensome but joy. I did not grow up with a family who practiced hospitality. Did you read books on hospitality? If so, can you recommend any? How did you become comfortable with it? Thanks Shaye 🥰

I worked all weekend and so grateful to wake up early-thanks to the dog nudging-and watch this video. You took me up to the mountains to see an extraordinary carpet of grass and fields of flowers (here in New England, mountains glorious too, but different-tree lined), inspired new ideas for a salad and bread. Reinforced importance of family, friendship, fellowship. This refreshed my soul. Thank you.

A small correction - what you recited is not a Scottish hymn but rather - Psalm 121 (maybe it is a different Scottish translation to the Hebrew original). In any case, keep strong, happy and productive.

I do not think anyone ever recovers from a huge tragedy it lives with them until the day they die. Not anything can reassure you it was meant to be even if it was. So not fair. So very sad. But yes a part of life but I wish life was just more straight forward. Like a beautiful Fairy tale with only good stuff. We do grow stronger and can help each other out in times of grief or just stress so that is very important as you mentioned here. I love how you love to cook and just show it the way it is. Garden looking amazing what a huge job that was. hugs and luv

Amen and amen. My husband and I have started a family life group this past year and we have felt very strongly about having people over at least once a week. Yes, it can be very messy and difficult to get the hang of but you have to just start. How else will you learn that normal people like ice and something besides water to drink and that you don’t have enough dinner plates?

Our sympathies and prayers for the losses your friends have endured, but you are so right about not getting caught in the negative, about resetting our mind and hearts. Community is harder to find in some areas of the country, we live in MT and everyone is independent and hermit(ish) that getting people to come over for a dinner or supper is very hard, Sadly we long for community but in the day and age of social media, it seems those who participate get satisfied and those of who yearn for face to face contact are suffering. We keep trying and pray in these times people will see and understand just how important community truly is in all of our lives. Thank you for sharing your heart struggles and your feelings of togetherness.
