As an Arkansan, I'm always surprised by how surprised outsiders are of Arkansas. We're called the Natural State. We have mountains, rivers, swamps, forests, etc. There is also a lot of good food, good music and neat history. Don't write us off because the movies portray us as Hicks. Eureka Springs has a wonderful history. You can't get to know the town in just a couple of days. The history is unbelievable. I was born there in 1950 and lived there for a short while in my teens. Every once in a while I come back to my "roots" and refresh my soul in this little town.

@@steveh7108 I think Eureka Springs looks beautiful and Holiday Island seems pretty awesome as well. I wanna start a family and the green mountains, trees and rivers remind me of where I grew up. No I am not a liberal weirdo, so no worries about that. What is the job market like?
@steveh71083 жыл бұрын
@@StallionFernando job market you ask, well it's like this: Eureka Springs and Holiday Island have always been very tough to make a living. And in my opinion that's one of the reasons it is such a great place to live. Because the people that move here and choose to stay here, do it because they truly love the area and the people. Not because they think they're going to get rich and make a fortune. That being said, for the last two years or so there have been many more jobs and construction going on then in my recent memory around here. My suggestion if you choose to move around here would be to scale back your cost of living and not expect all the extravagance and wasteful spending that people tend to do in the big cities. The Fail-Safe is that the job market on the other side of Beaver Lake in Rogers, Bentonville and Fayetteville is a huge job market with many opportunities. Those areas have been growing very fast for decades because it's where the home office's reside for Walmart, Tyson Foods and JB Hunt which triggered the growth with all of the vendors, retailers and essentially a economic boom just a stone's throw away on the other side of the lake. So that is always a failsafe for job Seekers and income.

We spend weekends in Eureka as we have a vacation home on Beaver lake on the Eureka side. Eureka is a really neat little town! Not exactly the most kid friendly (culturally off the rails) but we make it work. Some of the best places to eat: Grand Tavern (1st IMO), Local Flavor and the Grotto. I also think it's worth leaving downtown by a couple of miles to dine at one of the best kept secrets, Cottage Inn. A couple of miles further and the best brunch in town is at Bombadils. There's a VERY historic and amazingly beautiful Catholic Church in the middle of downtown Eureka Springs that's also worth a visit. St. Elizabeth of Hungary. www.stelizabethar.org/ This exact church is a replica of her sister church in Hungary, hence the name. A magical church for sure. And if you make the trip to Eureka from out of state, you should definitely book a stay on Beaver Lake, rent a boat and enjoy one of the nation's most beautiful bodies of water! Beaver is a massive lake and you can literally find a quiet cove for water sports or to just "float and bloat" all day. Also, during the spring, if there's been some rain, Hogscald hollow is literally littered with waterfalls, many of them truly epic!
