Hello Kansas City! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ We spent the day exploring the area and finally trying some famous Kansas City Barbecue, and y’all, it just might be the best BBQ we’ve ever had in our lives! 🤤 We also tried some unique coffee, drank too many local beers and visited some famous KC landmarks. The city’s pretty cool, but mostly we’re just dreaming about that BBQ…

10:45 True story: the many, many counties in Texas that are 30 by 30 miles square were created that shape and size so that people living anywhere in the county could travel on horseback to the county seat in the center, conduct business, and return home all on the same day.

PS: Thank you so much for clearing up the issue of Kansas City straddling 2 states - for 49 years I thought there were 2 Kansas Cities!!!!!
@disoriented1
@disoriented1 3 жыл бұрын
Mr Holiday...there ARE two separate cities; Kansas City, MO...population 500K, Kansas City, KS pop 150K. They are seperated by the state line and and the Kansas River. The KC metro area straddles two states. Kansas City, MO was incorporated and named for the Kansas River about 20 years before Kansas even gained territorial status, and Kansas City, KS was not founded until the 1880s.

If you like open air museums, check out Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI! I haven't been during Covid so I don't what was open last season, but spring through fall they have reenactors playing townspeople in the houses and the fields that you can talk to. They also have glass blowing, pottery, and an old tavern on site that you can eat authentic 1800s food in. They have special events during the night around Halloween, Christmas, and the DSO playing in the village around 4th of July, too.

I lived in KC for 7 years I've been to that City market several times. And Joes, is the best BBQ I have ever had. The story behind Joes is it use to be in Oklahoma and the owners that have it now moved it to KC. When it first got to KC it was named Oklahoma Joes. A few years later they had to remove the word Oklahoma from the name and now it's just called Joes. I've had the z-man sandwich before it's yummy. You're in for a real treat. Cool! Union Station and right catty corner basically is Crown Center. Yes! the Steam boat museum across from the market. To me, it's kind of expensive to go in there though. Shame on you guys you didn't go to the plaza. And what's really neat to see is the Nelsons museum of fine arts if you like that kind of stuff plus, it's free to get in.
