We made it to state #42: Kansas! Although we weren’t able to explore the state as in depth as we hoped, we had a blast checking out some unique spots around the state, from a Wizard of Oz museum, going underground into a salt mine, visiting a Swedish town, and of course, eating Kansas City BBQ!

As a native to Kansas, the cinnamon roll and chili combo was one of the most anticipated lunch menu items here in my hometown! We had it quite regularly throughout middle school and highschool and you could always tell when there was a new (non-midwestern) kid in class on that day because of the utter look of confusion and disgust on their face! But, most of them came around to trying it out. Thanks for visiting the state, wish you could have seen the Bartlett Arboretum here in Belle Plaine on your way through!

I grew up in Kansas and the chili and cinnamon roll combo is always a topic of conversation for those not from the midwest! Ketchup on scrambled eggs is another one I find a lot of people have never had. What I really want to know is that chili recipe you all through together. It looked great and different from those typical to KS which usually have beans.

We dig the chili and cinnamon roll combo! But we’ll pass on ketchup on eggs 😂 The chili recipe is by Nom Nom Paleo nomnompaleo.com/2017052320170523instant-pot-ground-beef-chili We don’t do beans our chili…no way! ❌❌ put one bean in there and now you have a pot of beans! 😂

I particularly loved seeing the Salt Mine Museum and Coronado site (which I have not visited) and the Tallgrass Prairie, and Arkansas River area of Wichita (which I have visited!) I watch the movie a couple of times a year...just to keep in touch with my childhood 😀 Not so sure about cinnamon roll and chili..you have definitely peaked my curiosity. What a fantastic campsite y'all found! I love the mill, so much history. The Coronado Castle...beautiful! The Salt mines have been added to my list...what a great tour. In the museum there was a jacket with the word wonder that looked like the Wonder Bread wrapper. I never seen this before. I enjoyed seeing the Salt Mine. Interesting they kept all the trash from those who use to work there. So very neat how you could enjoy seeing the past come to life in that little town. I liked Adam playing cards. When you can experience History - see the way it was, I think you tend to appreciate it more. That was well worth the price to see 40 buildings. I've enjoyed seeing Kansas. I liked the Keeper of the Prairie. The ceremony was a experience I'd like to see one day. You two are amazing! I've really enjoyed watching you both. Thank you!
