The first one is interesting, but I have another theory. The Priests of Kynareth are supposed to be healers, right? So suppose Nazeem and Ahlam had lived together at Wintersand Manor and had a child. The child gets deathly ill and they ask one of the priests of Kynareth to try and save the child. Acolyte Jensen tries his best. He is at their house round the clock, Ahlam even gives him a key, so that he can check in on the child at any time. Despite Jensen's best efforts the child dies. This might account for some of Nazeem's bitterness and Ahlam's distance.

And for the lack of a house, actually! If your child died in that house, you probably wouldn't want to go back any time soon. If by any chance, they couldn't sell the house, they might have just 1) abandoned it or 2) burned it to the ground 3) something else that would rid of the house. I have no idea if the Breezehome has a backstory (the lore in this game is too much to keep track of lmao), but it's big enough for a family of three and close enough that Acolyte could visit whenever he wanted to. Obviously, it's not a manor, though. It would also make sense to stay inside the city, even though they have the farm just outside, for protection. Renaming the house would make sense after something like that, especially if the parents left due to the tragic memories. Or maybe Wintersand is just a vacation home and we're desperately grasping for straws, haha

Plot twist, Mercer was the bad guy all along and Karliah saves your hide. The Greybeards are not pacifists. They may seem as such, but by no means are they pacifistic. They 'only Speak in True Need', or in other words, use the Voice, or Thu'um, when necessary. “Ysgramor” makes sense as a Draconic name, as names in dragon almost always have 3 syllables. “Al-du-in”, “Par-thur-nax”, you get the picture. “Ys-gra-mor” could be a fusion of Ancient Nordic (“Ys” and “Mor”) and Draconic (“Gra”). So his name could mean “Ysmor who Battles”, as “Gra” means battle in Draconic.
@NMG.114 жыл бұрын
a bit late to the party, but i think there are indeed 3 dragon shout word that inspired the name of Ysgramor. I have just one thing to object in your Greybeard theory. When we go to Sovengarde, don't we meet Jurgen Windcaller ? You know, the guy who founded the Greybeards. The OG pacifist and voice worshipper ? If he can be let into Sovengarde then why can't his followers also be let in ? A counter to my objection may be that he may have died in a battle of some sort. But then again, would the Greybeards really follow his teachings if his last action negated everything they stood for ?
@dutchpatriot175 жыл бұрын
It could be that Kyne, being the wife of Shor, personally insisted Jurgen be allowed into Sovngarde as he recognized the Nords had been abusing the Voice, and taught them to cease their heretical abuse of the Thu'um. It was Jurgen who realized Kyne had punished the Nords for their abuse of this gift; it makes sense for Kyne to personally reward him.
@donnywilliams94945 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but he was a warrior before he became pacifist. There's a bit of evidence that if your deeds are great enough, dying on the battlefield isn't explicitly needed for entry. This would give leniency to those who were stabbed in the back or just caught a disease.

The "500 companions" is probably a case of Nordic hyperbole, very similar to the book "The Guardian and the Traitor" where they say that Solstheim literally split from the mainland because of Vahlok and Miraak's battle. What I believe is that the highest ranking of the Nordic warriors were classified as "The 500," but that these 500 had many men below them to aid in their battles. I don't doubt that dragons might have been involved with the return, since the Dragon Cult had been established long before the Nords returned to Skyrim, but the dragons complacency and indifference toward those who worshiped them makes me think they didn't have a very direct role in the eradication of the snow elves. Don't forget that men were still fighting snow elves into the first area, according to Skorm Crag-Strider's journal in Forelhost. An eradication of an entire species is a long, slow process, and it might have taken the ancient Nords a few centuries to drive the snow elves back. Remember, don't read everything in the Elder Scrolls verbatim or as gospel. What I love about the series is that everything is from the perspective of an unreliable narrator. We don't know what's true and what isn't, and it's up to us to fill in the blanks.
@Joe-nv4pn5 жыл бұрын
MasterSkyrim1000 (this is directed at “The Guardian And The Traitor”) I wouldn’t be surprised if the battle of Vahlok and Miraak caused Solstheim to split from the mainland, Thu’ums are extremely powerful and are able to bend reality, and if the Thu’um is given to one of the strongest mortals on Tamriel, you bet they’re going to be able to mess some shit up.

Everyone seems to forget about Jyygalag, the Daedric Prince of Order and, at one point, the other half of Sheogorath. After the Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion, Jyyg gets split off from Sheogorath and goes off from the Shivering Isles to gather power again.

Mehrunes Dagon not Molag Bal, this is the second time I've seen you mix these two up. Only thing that was Molag Bal was the creation of the vampires, you could have used shots of him from ESO if you didnt want to show his shrines from skyrim.

About Ysgramor, there was a book which talks about Azidahl assisting Ysgramor and his five hundred companions with enchanted armour and weapons. Some text also say Ysgramor Road the back of a conjured thunder bear, so I suppose he had some help from the Clever men (mages as they were described in the old era). Conclusion, it was perhaps a combination of Azidahl, the clever men and the intervention of the dragons as you mentioned in the video.

Kodlak Whiteman tells you the following in the Companions quest line: "The Companions are nearly five thousand years old. This matter of beastblood has only troubled us for a few hundred. One of my predecessors was a good, but short-sighted man. He made a bargain with the witches of Glenmoril Coven. If the Companions would hunt in the name of their lord, Hircine, we would be granted great power."
@sethleoric25983 жыл бұрын
My theory: Ysgramor and his Nords were all half giants at the time. Not only that, when he says "500 Companions" he meant 500 Jarls, Warlords, Chieftains, Generals, and Nobles from Atmora each with their own personal armies. Also Dragons and a plethora of OTHER Warbeasts, and maybe giants from Atmora.

In the way of Falion I believe he is the champion of an unknown Daedra the Daedric Prince of Mysteries. Not the Prince of Nightmares. I think that whilst teaching at the College of Winterhold he was visited by the Daedra of Mysteries. That is how he saw the planes of Oblivion and met a Dwemer, he was shown the mysteries of the forgotten. To be clear mysteries is not a factor of Hermaus Mora. So all knowledge forgotten or not known is not owned by Hermaus but the Daedra of Mystery. Surely an unknown champion to an unknown Daedra is quite fitting? The cure for Vampirism would be a mystery revealed to Falion and the Daedra of mystery would use nightmares to throw people of his trail to keep it a *mystery*. Anyway that's my two cents hope you found it interesting.

I had several playthroughs on Xbox 360 but never got to enjoy the glory of mods. I bought a pc a couple years ago but it took stumbling on your videos to realize that I was missing out on not only the mods but on the remastered version of the game and nostalgia won over. I am so glad It did because I have been loving how much freedom the pc version of the game gives me. Having played through a good amount of the vanilla game I have really enjoyed being able to play it again with so many new additions and changes is amazing! So what I am trying to say is thank you! Grey Beards seems to me that they represent 'the Old Man of the Mountain'/'King of The World'/'King of Agartha or Agarti', leader of the group of Sages that oversee the Spiritual Development of the World. They are the Way into that Realm, guardians or caretakers so to speak. Just as in game you have to get past these to speak with their leader Parthanax who lives at the summit, when you do you travel time and space to fulfill your destiny and go to Sovenguard.

The reason I think behind the 500 companions against the snow elves is with the help of Ahzidal There is a book called "Ahzidal's decent" where he was a great mage mastering the elven ways of magic apparently his homeland of saarthal was attacked by the snow elves after leaving to study more on other provinces this filled him with rage and after he learned that ysgramor was planning a revenge attack on the elves he volunteered to help him by enchanting the armors and weapons of ysgramors army the 500 companions with the elven magic he learned throughout his life basically using the elves own magic against them eventually winning and sending the elves into near Extinction...

Nate, you said the Greybeards can’t access the Hall of Valor. But Windcaller is a Greybeard. I know he did battle with his thu’um, but he stopped because he believes the gods punished them for it. Which lead to the Way of the Voice. He didn’t die in battle "My disciples still follow the difficult path - the Way of the Voice is neither wide, nor easy. But if you stray from wisdom then to Sovngarde you will not return." - one of his quotes to us
