Geekdom- this is my thought process for why Buu reverted to Kid Buu when Fat Buu was removed from his body instead of the grey Evil Buu... On a spiritual level the split into Good Buu and Evil Buu is almost exactly like the split of the Nameless Namekian into Kami and Piccolo. Like the Yin and Yang, there is a dot of dark in the white side and a dot of white in the dark side. Meaning Kami is almost all good, but no one is completely good and Piccolo is almost all evil, but there is still traces of light in him. When Buu separated, the Kai’s within him also separated. That’s why the clothing of Evil Buu was still that of Daikaioh- he still had the small traces of evil of Daikaioh and South Kai that had been separated. Now, when the Daikaioh was first absorbed, it was almost like the Buff Buu and Kid Buu version was locked away inside him. There was definitely some kind of Kai magic at play there. And when Evil Buu became Super Buu all of the Kai essence went back to the same place for some reason and was locked away inside Super Buu. But when Vegeta separated the Good Buu, that seal was broken and Super Buu ceased to exist (I think this would include the dark aspects of Daikaioh). All of the Kai essence had been removed now and there was no other form to go to. So where did it go? The last form it had before the Daikaioh absorption- Buff Buu. But I guess by now all of the South Kai had been integrated into Buu and that power was gone I guess? So it just kind of evaporated and he continued to revert to the pure Kid Buu. It’s complicated because a lot of stuff happened but it does seem logical to me after I thought about it enough.

5:56, I think that it's worth pointing out that Android 21, though not exactly a character in the main Dragon Ball works, is capable of absorption via this method, since she did absorb Cell this way. We don't really know if she can use slime formed from her own body, or if she can turn herself or individual parts of her body into slime at all as well as break off pieces of it, to absorb certain targets, however.

Recently, I had watched the last part of a DBZ What If story by SmugStick of what happens if Goku got trapped in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and went crazy! I had seen Super Buu absorb Goku for crying outloud but Goku, although being inside a cocoon inside Buu's body, was still conscious, and he had escaped his cocoon prison by powering up to SSJ3 and blew Buu to pieces!!! That was nothing compared to the original story but it was still AWESOME!!!

If the majin buu looks like the strongest being it has absorbed, it would mean that when the super buu (which is basically the evil buu with the fat buu absorbed) absorbed the gotenks, the piccolo and the gohan, these 3 are stronger that fat buu? Perhaps this rule does not apply with absorption of buu, or else it has to do with the dai kaioshin not being at its maximum power

don't forget that the split from fat Buu to good and evil was the same or at least similar to how the original Namakian split into demon king piccolo and kami and when one completely died so did the other, but when kid Buu died fat Buu didn't suggest that the link between them didn't exist anymore and they truly became 2 separate beings instead of 1 being split into 2

A theory I thought about why majin buu turned into his original form instead of pure evil after his fight with Vegito is maybe because fat buu had parts that belonged to the original buu, and so before pure evil buu absorbed him he looked so skinny and "weak", like he was missing something. Then, after they took everyone including fat buu out of him, he kind of retained those parts that where missing. Again, just an idea.

Here's my take: When the Evil Buu was created, he didn't have the Grand or South Kais like Fat Buu did. So when Fat Buu was removed from Super Buu, the Grand and South Kais were still inside that Fat Buu and went with him. So nothing was left behind when Fat Buu was expelled, thus regressing into Pure/Kid Buu.

He wasn't expelled (somehow, at least not fully) until Kid Buu spit him out after seemingly Fat Buu prevented Kid Buu from hurting Hercule. Fat Buu was still in effect to some degree. (Somehow)

Technically the potara fusion isn't a recon if you remember the old kai was Young before he fused with the witch and he probably didn't have that much knowledge of the earrings and thinking he never diffuse from the witch that's why the old kai said they were permanent so I don't think it's a recon

Reverting to a familiar form makes sense. I always thought of it like Skinny Buu was Majin Buu splitting his evil and good selves. Taking Buu out of there after was more like traditionally just splitting Majin Buu so both had good and evil in them. I mean Fat Buu isn't a saint. And Kid Buu didn't really know any better to say he was just outright evil... Like a hurricane. I don't know it matters too too much.
