Your explanation of anorexia nervosa isn't accurate. Most anorexics don't have that type of body dismorphia, not extreme low weight anorexics anyway. They know they look sick, they see how skeletal they are and how sick they look. That's the point. It's something in their life they have total control over. It's something they take pride in. As on "see how much willpower I have. I can restrict myself to the edge of death. For some the "reward" is that when they appear close to death its the only time people seem to care about them. For some it's the only time people pay attention to them. For some it's simply so their appearance matches the pain they feel inside them. It can be a way of saying "look how bad I look, I need you to love me. Show me that it matters to you wether I live or die" Eugenia Cooney, for example, when she was in recovery her viewership (which is her entire social world as well as being her sole source of income with which she supports herself and her mother, dropped drastically. Her mother also made her handle raw hamburger meat (a huge trigger for an anorexic) and stopped filming long shots of her body and closeups of her legs, but that's another story) For someone like her, the anorexia feels like the only thing she has in her life. It's how she survives, it's her most enduring hobby, it's what her mother loves about her, it guarantees people don't find her sexually attractive (she has SA trauma). My point is, the majority of anorexics don't think they're fat. Their goal is to be skeletal, not to be attractive.

I didn't know what that term meant so I googled it. Somatic symptom disorder is characterized by an extreme focus on physical symptoms - such as pain or fatigue - that causes major emotional distress and problems functioning. You may or may not have another diagnosed medical condition associated with these symptoms, but your reaction to the symptoms is not normal.May 8, 2018 I don't feel that fits people with Fibromyalgia. I feel like calling Fibromyalgia a Somatic disorder as defined above is a slap in the face. What am I missing?

2:27 I was experiencing bullying at school and I spent a whole year suffering from chronic hives. I went to several allergists and had several tests and none of them knew what was causing it, but after my mother found out and I changed classes, I never had another crisis again, After that, both my psychologist and my allergist said it was probably psychological, but since no tests showed anything, I never found out if that was really it, that was just 2 months ago (commented because I noticed that some people on the internet are also going through the same thing and maybe this will help)
