Good video. We use Mesh tape on the corner bid between metal and sheet rock to prevent future cracking.

Hi, thank you for the helpful video! I have a question about keeping corner bead level and plumb when the drywall is not installed in good condition -how can I ensure it stays really straight? I find it hard to use a laser level every time I work on corner beads in Condo and townhouse unit. I’d really appreciate any advice you can give me about leveling without using the laser. Thanks from Toronto!

How does the corner get mud if its scraped off?
@TheExcellentLaborer6 ай бұрын
It never does get covered in mud. You typically just paint over it. The metal corner is embedded in the mud for the most part except for the very corner. I hope that helps!

How did you mud those beads that were closer than 9 inches?

Hi, I am trying to replace some water damaged drywall in the bathroom. The piece is about 16"x3 1/2". One side buts up against an acrylic tub and just floats over the flange. The other side runs under a now partially rusted corner bead. I rent, so I am not going to replace with tile or Hardiebacker. I am just trying to figure out if I can get a 16" replacement piece of corner bead to match the profile of the undamaged portion of corner bead that is still on the wall, or will it be a fools errand? Can i replace just the bottom portion of bead with vinyl to prevent rust? Will that make it harder to match? 2nd Can I run mud directly over the flange into the side of the tub, or do i need something like a Trimtex tearaway bead to prevent mud from cracking overtime due to temp fluc. and the mov. of the acrylic tub. I was honestly thinking of using a piece of pvc baseboard instead of drywall for a patch, so I take care of the waterproofing issue. But that's just because I'm forced to buy an entire sheet of Green Board when I am using less than a square foot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

A: do all your taping 1st. B: start in the middle and use nails C: tape the corner to prevent cracks D: mud from the bottom and work up E: get rid of the gloves.

If you spread joint compound on your corn bread you won't need to use tooth paste ever again.😝
