Hi! Not one to comment too often, but I'm the author of 5007 and just wanted to thank you for reading my SCP and making this amazing video! It means the world to me and has absolutely made my day! For anyone interested in trivia, I based this off numerous real life events like the disappearance of Harold Holt, the Vanishing of Fred Valentich, the weirdly high number of ufo sightings and odd disappearances in the areas. Did you know we lost 14 fight planes there during training runs in ww2? I've lived and surfed in the bass strait pretty much my whole life and have wanted to make something special for it. Originally I was going to incorporate a few other real life disappearances into this, but in the end I decided that in those cases it might have been a little disrespectful to the people and families involved.

The entity claimed that it wanted to see everything. We gave it provisional access to 4chan without the ability to post to the board. The Foundation received a single communique three hours after containment protocol was enacted, stating that "It had seen enough." Seismic activity then occurred, completely sealing off the entrance to the submerged chasm. Neutralization deemed successful.

The Bass Strait (IRL) is one location in Australia near which some Missing 411 -style disappearances have happened. Weird place. Usually that would make it stand out as a place to avoid, but... it's Australia, where a huge amount of the country is inhospitable desert and also where you can just go into your backyard and be killed by venomous animals or get blown up by an exploding eucalyptus tree, so "place to avoid" kind of applies to the entire country. This SCP reminds me of Father from the Animorph series, a being so large that it covered an entire ocean moon. Father technically has no mind on its own, but it can use its tentacles to capture alien ships unfortunate enough to come near the ocean surface. It then "connect" the dead bodies of whatever aliens inside that ship to its body, absorb their consciousness to form Father's mind, kinda like copying files to a blank folder. The victims are dead but their copied minds live on and can be "revived" anytime for Father's own entertainment.

Yeah...!!! Nailed it! Definitely a lingering WTF vibe to this excellent SCP, excellently, expertly and compellingly delivered, as always. I was at times a little bothered by the bordering-on-too-many huge, gaping plot holes and some logic and continuity issues mostly present in the last, climaxing, push-through part of the story/article, but I still tremendously enjoyed it, having caught on quite early that this was going to be a wild ride, with plenty of mystery left unresolved in the end, but in the best way possible. Many of the best of the best SCPs are those that are both provocative and left largely unexplained, which is where the magic comes from, the lasting impression it leaves on us, who keep wondering about what exactly it was or happened, lighting our imagination ablaze and heavily nourishing our dreams. This was one such article. It might not be the most polished piece of writing out there, bordering on being clumsy at times, but let's be honest: the most perfect masterpieces are those that have a strange mix of glaring flaws intertwined with superb strengths, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

I guess this was recommended to me because I live in Tasmania, this is a surprise but a welcome one! Incase anyone is interested, it's the main way for Tasmanians to get to the mainland and vice versa so it's well-traversed. There have been a couple of disappearances over the bass straight but nothing out of the ordinary despite what conspiracy theorists may say, interestingly one of the most notable cases was a small Cessna pilot who was a UFO conspiracist who went missing. An unidentified Cessna was seen landing the day of his disappearance so the general explanation is that he faked it to rile up some attention.

I appreciate an audio-based video creator that doesn't mis-prounounce any words I've ever noticed.

That mention of "inflation" from SCP-3999 might be part of the same fetish that inspired these "aliens". A tentacle covered with eyes that constantly speaks of "seeing" is a neat concept, but having it involve people whose stomachs balloon out with flotation gas was a bit much IMO.

Fun fact: the Valentich disappearance is real and actually happened like in the transcript, right down to the phrase “It is hovering and it’s not an aircraft” and the metallic scraping noise. Sweet dreams!

This reminds me of a game called Iron Lung that captures exactly what I imagine the D-Class in this story feels

There is a ferry that goes through the bass strait triangle. No one uses it. Not because it is a facade by the Foundation or because it is haunted. It’s because no one from the mainland likes or wants to go to Tasmania
