The (possibly unintentional but still unpleasant) gatekeepers of how to like something, why one is stupid for disliking something and actually even liking something (! Too basic so simple brains can process) and being needlessly cruel to people are reasons why I've moved away from many, many online spaces. I totally agree with you that it's most fun to watch someone be enthusiastic about something (positive or negative), whether I align with it or am interested in it or not. Sadly there is a lot of vocal "talking down to" and aggression that is very tiring. I don't know what the solution is other than moving away. Nice chat between friends. Take care, both. 🙏🏽🌷

This was both fun and yet also relevant. I have to agree with Allen that there is nothing worse than fanatic fans who aren't willing or able to appreciate differing viewpoints. Oh yes the cover change for Last King of Osten Ard mid-series, corporate decision by PRH I think because the series hasn't sold that well + Whelan was getting on in years and so charging (justifiably) high rates, taking on limited work? They even changed the placement of the author and title mid series so now the spines don't match, that one I got no clue why. Probably lack of care? I made my peace with it (what else can one do haha). The text within those covers is wonderful. Williams did it, he completed the series which had this much sprawl and number of POVs so beautifully. I hope the publisher promotes it more and this series takes off.

I see do many people say they love speaking bones and it's such a great ending but I just can't emulate those feelings because the way it ended wasn't what i wanted. One thing thats always puzzled me, with the amount of times the Boltons warred with the Starks in the past, how come the Starks have never wiped the Boltons off the map. They did it to the Greystarks. Was there a marriage alliance I'm not aware of? Is there some super secret Dawn Age pact between the Houses going on? This isn't a criticism, I just think there's something going on.

I have seen that Runelords series, but the covers are so reminiscent of Piers Anthony's covers I never picked them up, 😅, and I have read the Recluce series (20+ books now?) and they are decent, the magic is different and cool, but they tend to become kind of "samey" after a while.
