This was so frustrating, which is a shame as it did two of the things I have been begging the main story to do, have characters acknowledge Jin's villainy in Tekken 6 and focus on characters outside of the Mishimas. Unfortunately, they did this in the worst way possible. Eddy immediately forgave Jin unconditionally, so the first idea was rendered meaningless, and the time we spent with the new characters was pointless as all their character development happened offscreen, they did nothing significant and were then unceremoniously defeated. I know, they have a power scale to maintain, but since Heihachi was still recovering and still isn't ready with his plan after the main story, they could have easily had them temporarily incapacitate him and force him to retreat. Barring that, they could have easily given them some kind of meaningful character interaction with Heihachi. Imagine if he offered Yoshimitsu assistance with rebuilding the Manji Clan, promised Eddy revenge on Kazuya (or even Jin, imagine how cool it would have been if Eddy didn't immediately forgive Jin and it was seeing the monster the desire for Vengeance twisted Heihachi into that convinced Eddy to forgive Jin) and told Lidia the truth about her family cooperating with him in the past (as was hinted at in some of her bios, and would also explain the handwritten letter, which this story never did), that would have made their decision to oppose him actually mean something. Or imagine if they confronted the fact that they willingly consented to brainwashing a human being, that their "heroism" was hypocritical. Speaking of Heihachi, everything about his story was terrible. His character development and nuance from Tekken 7 (which was foreshadowed by the bios in Tekkens 1-3) was thrown out the window. The way he survived was idiotic and made no logistical sense, Kazuya was watching the entire time (it also contradicts his intro dialogues, which state that he fell in the lava), the Tekken Monks ended up being insignificant, idiotic (really, trusting Heihachi just because they brainwashed him?) fodder and his memory returning felt completely contrived. I was actually looking forward to his return, but this was garbage. Honestly, it would have been better if they showed the story of how Lidia and Yoshimitsu saved Eddy from Kazuya, and just had Heihachi be badass enough to survive through sheer willpower and climb out of the volcano of his own volition, the way they did it was the worst of both worlds, a nonsensical explanation while making him look weak. P.S. I hope subsequent DLCs act as Sequels rather than prequels. We already know that no major character development or changes to the status quo will happen in this time period, so prequels feel pointless in this instance. P.P.S. This only confirms for me that giving Reina the Devil Gene was a massive mistake, she's way cooler when she has to use her intellect to get by. P.P.P.S. The character assassination of Nina into a money grubbing henchwoman continues, I can't wait for some Anna DLC to fix this garbage, hopefully.

No wonder there's so much talk about the Mishima Bloodline. Everyone put your ones up for Mishima Reigns pun intended 😂 Seriously though I think the main thing that absolutely dissapoints me about this DLC is how much life and good direction it had, built over 7 and the end of the main 8 story. Imagine just doing irreparable damage to the entirety of the story you put that much stock and time into. I'm sad for the people like me and FightersDen that care about the lore and have investment in the characters. I do like that they pretty much try to make up for the destruction of Eddy's character giving him 2 chapters and an unrealistic feat of not dying in the Jack explosion lol. I like that they made a new character that is at least around Mishima level that isn't one in Lidia but I'm gonna need more story from her than just these flashbacks of her father cuz she is just really white meat babyface so far. Why was Yoshi here anyways if he wasn't gonna do anything, I feel like it was just to explain why he wasn't in the battlefield fighting alongside everyone else(they could have had him there and it would have made much more sense though especially if he had already saved Eddy months before this going down). Again a bunch of bad sprinkled in with good. Maybe its because of how big of a wrestling fan I am but its crazy how they're blowing up their stories so quickly its almost in essence of the nonsense we see on WWE tv lol. I'm guessing you'll get to the rest of the lore bits later from the journal entries and videos you unlock after doing the DLC story but that makes this whole thing even worse. They just killed any semblance of the Hachijo clan off screen which they could have done something with that minus Reina of course and the Mishima clan just now starts to exist even though they've been around since the EDO PERIOD. Seems like there's still some good tidbits in there but its more giving us more info about stuff we already knew or could guess like what happened to Leo's mom and her involvement with G corp and stuff.

Abd with that DLC, Tekken 7 with its story is deemed useless. If Heihachi Mishima was thrown into molten lava and somehow survives thanks to Reina using her powers to save him and jump start his heart again then I wouldn't be mad. The Tekken Monks were dumb trying to turn Heihachi Mishima as face when Heihachi is evil to the core so of course he'll return to his corrupt nature. Eddy having a good run only to job out to Heihachi Mishima and Lidia didn't have a chance in hell stopping him. As bad the Khaos Reign story is, this story is absolutely awful. The Mishima saga continues when Tekken 7 and 8 did state it was the end of the saga. 0/10.

You know what would have been a good compromise, both in bringing back Heihachi in a way, an not damaging the story. Have this guy be Heihachi's identical younger twin brother separated from birth. I know this kind of thing has been done before but its this or what we got instead. Let me just change his origins a little bit. This guys real name is Kenhachi, many years ago Jinpachi Mishima and the Mishima family made pact with the Tekken Monks. After the Monks helped the family in its time of great need. In return the Mishima's rewarded the monks with great wealth, but they refused they instead asked for one thing the 2nd born child of Jinpachi which he agreed. Years later, Heihachi and Kenhachi were born Jinpachi honoring the agreement, gave Kenhachi away not long after birth. Heihachi was never aware he had a twin younger brother as the Monks have retreated back into isolation, and Kenhachi would spend his life perfecting and pushing the Mishima Style towards newer heights, he is also personality wise the opposite of his older twin brother in many ways. With the official death of Heihachi Mishima the monks came out of hiding, in which they have unknown plans for Kenhachi moving foward.

5:46 - I agree that the DLC sucks, but I'll actually defend this scene. It isn't as clear-cut as "Eddy forgiving Jin." Jin was responsible for T6, no doubting that, but Eddy still chose to ally with a war criminal and assisted in his crimes in order to save his master. In doing so, it put a strain on his relationships and moral values. He failed to be at his master's deathbed and failed to comfort Christie in a time when they needed him the most. He helped Jin destroy lives, which is his exact beef with Kazuya doing so to him and his parents. Jin and Eddy have a similar history where the loss of their parental/mentor figures leads them on a darker path. Giving in to that anger resulted in T6. Eddy can't hold a grudge against Jin when he has shit on his own plate. It won't change what happened, but they can both choose to move forward or deny their pasts in anger. I don't blame people for not vibing with this scene, though. This is the fault of the base game largely sidestepping conversations about Jin's crimes when characters like Lili, Victor, and Lars should've been more skeptical or hostile to Jin.
