Writers tend to just throw all the weaker characters at the big bad just to artificially increase the stakes and have them do something just so they don't feel useless, but they end up being exactly that: useless. Tien and Piccolo's treatment in DB as time went on is nothing short of sad. Piccolo, in the recent Broly movie, straight up says ''I'd love to help, but I'd just get in the way''. EVEN FUCKING PICCOLO ACKNOLEDGES HE'S USELESS NOW. I fucking hate that shit.
