What I tend to do is shorten my leader, less pressure in the water for fish to sense, but going down to a lighter weight leader makes a lot of sense, especially if you need leader length for for abrasion resistance. thanks for this tip

If using mono, I can get away with a shorter leader, but with braid, I would rather use a long thinner leader to separate the line and the lure more. If a shorter leader works for you, Then keep on using it, but if the fishing is tough, try a longer leader to help get more strikes.

thanks for sharing this! i have a question though, if my braided (main) line is 16lbs with .187mm can connect a leader line rated at 12lbs and .29mm? im a noob at fishing and still learning. hehe

You can if you want to, nothing and no one will stop you if you want to do that. Although it would be advisable to have a leader that is a bit over our line - this is the part of the system that takes the scratches and bumps. But in certain instances, you can fish with lighter leaders.

@@TheFishingKit i find the 20lb leader just a tad too thick. pls keep on making these videos. they are a big help. God bless sir

@@dexterchu4549 16lb braid will overtest to around 20lb or over. As far as leaders go, you will find that there are 20lb ones that are relatively thin.
