Awesome video I thought I was the only one they fish here. If you keep going south to the next main street underneath the street, you'll find some tilapia, red ears and some bass. That's awesome you got some cats. I never seen them in there before.

You have to find the ponds in the salt river bed east of Tempe town lake all the way to where they divert the water into the canal by red mountain(north east Mesa) love the channel. Reminds me of my childhood fishing the same canals. Also, I watched your earlier videos and wonder why you moved from catfish heaven to the desert? It’s none of my business but it’s an interesting move.

I agree they’re easy. But in water like this where it’s like a foot to 2ft deep they get pressured and can get harder to catch. Pond river bigger canal though easy

I think it's spawn time for catfish. I"m not sure when you filmed this but on Memorial day my wife and I hit Apache Lake on the kayaks and caught several 8-11lb channel cats on 5" grubs with jigheads. I got a little cell phone vid on my channel of the action. They looked like bass busting balls of shad.

Try out some Keitech swimbaits. With some ned-lock jig heads - they will slay. I use them for pretty much everything. River brown trout, walleye, bass, drum, etc... Keitech swimbaits are my secret weapon.

It’s a decent drop to the canal below, we can’t release all fish like a commercial lol. Catfish and bass are hardy and I’ve never seen any of them die from being plopped back in there
