Qué es taima?
@jorgevinoles57168 жыл бұрын
Taima is the "safe spot" of a game, like a wall or a tree. Usually kids' games, like "La traes", where you have avoid the one who "La trae" to touch you; the safe spot where you can rest running and that person usually tries to block your way to get there is called "Taima". I've heard ppl say "Taima" as a call voice for a pause too, like "Tiempo fuera". It was very common in Venezuela when I grew up a child, but I haven't heard kids using the word now a days.

@arturo4358 жыл бұрын
+Moises Bermudez I think it's best translated as, "Better dead than ugly." But that sounds quite harsh, ugly in this case would stand for without make up, without their hair done and not some good clothes on. I don't mean it to sound bad but it's not a very good saying to begin with.

CD's pronounced as "cedes" in Spain has no sense, because they are still using the acronym of Compact Disc which is in English. So they should say DC, which would be the acronym of Disco Compacto in Spanish.
@DarkMoon6898 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the various logo on the disk is still shows as "CD", so many just go by that, simply using the acronym that is plaster all over the merchandise. regardless of what literal translation is and how that would affect the order of the letters in the acronym in Spanish.
@emiliopedrosa51838 жыл бұрын
+DarkMoon689 In German they say Tse-De which is how it should sound in German. In French they say Se-De which is how CD sounds in French. In Spain we say Ce-De. We should all accept the different uses in all the different places and not generalize on a whole nation based on a stupid word
@DarkMoon6898 жыл бұрын
Yes and in Venezuela we say it as Ci-Di, every place has their different way dealing with borrow words and acronyms. I wasn't saying it was bad, I was just mentioning that most places I've been to don't use the word Disco Compacto or the acronym as DC because you never see that on the actual merchandise. In Spanish I've heard Ci-Di and Ce-De and there is nothing wrong with either, is just kind of annoying when in a store the clerk seems oblivious of what you are requesting for a minor pronunciation difference. The same happens all the time with how we deal with DVD, some people say De-Ve-De y otros Di-Vi-Di, and when they meet each other I've seen some people spend a whole 5 minutes clarifying how they want one and the other is something completely different. *sigh*
@emiliopedrosa51838 жыл бұрын
Even in Spain we say De-Uve-De since for us letter V is 'uve' as opposed to 've corta' in many Latin American countries. But I totally see your point, it's silly that some store clerks or some people in general seem not to understand you when you say things slightly different. People who are willing to understand each other will eventually do so. I know you weren't saying it in a bad way. I was just a little upset about the way Joanna told the story of the cds in Spain and then said it was hypocritical to say bacon. It's just a stupid story but everytime she mentions Spain she does so in an unfriendly way while she always seems to have nice words for Lat Am countries. Spain and Latin America have strong cultural ties, I just don't understand certain rivalries
@ct3698 жыл бұрын
In Brazil we call most of the stuff at English but with our accent. Bacon, CD, Brother, Outdoor, Blackout, Lan House, Pit Stop, Pay per view, Delivery. And I don't think there's anything wrong about that...
