Blind Reaction: RWBY Volume 9 Chapters 1-3

This is almost a week early, so the next RWBY video will not be until October 21st (probably) but these RWBY videos are supposed to go up on Saturdays. Anyways, all of Volume 9 is recorded. The videos will be 1-3, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-10. I haven't recorded the V9 Soundtrack yet, but that'll be the video after the V9 finale. I'm not going to look at the epilogue animatic. I'll be doing all the Chibi I never did as well as Ice Queendom after getting through V9. I think that's pretty much it, but yeah, RWBY on Saturdays for pretty much the rest of the year. Hopefully after all of this we'll eventually have a tenth volume to do in the next few years, but whatever the case may be, I'm excited to share my reactions to this volume for the time being.

In contrast to the Sartrean philosophy "existence precedes essence” that says individuals do not have a pre-determined essence or nature that determines their actions or destiny, and individuals create their own essence through their choices and actions in life. In Ever After, essence precedes existence. Thus the inhabitants of each Acre is free of what Sartre called existential anxiety. To our characters from Remnant, the responsibility of creating our own essence and finding meaning in life can be overwhelming. The Herbalist offered those on their journeys a way to be freed from this existential source of anxiety and responsibility, and the Red King took it. Another character chose as well, which I look forward to seeing in the following fantastic chapters.

Ruby has always been my favorite character (along with Neo). She's the one that has always kept my interest, and I'm so glad we got her depression arc this volume. I really wanted to see Ruby break down from everything that happened to and around her, and then have her confidence and overall mental health improve. I LOVED this volume!

Little bit of a spoil e r, there is NO clip at the end of V9-10 for the next season, instead it's were the Trailer for the the RWBY/DC CROSSOVER first dropped. Most likely there will be an OFFICIAL preview at the end of the PART 2 coming out in a couple of weeks. They did release a mock up EPILOG a couple of months ago about them arriving IN Vaccuoe that was REALLY good, but it was more or less just storyboard sketches with audio. STILL A GREAT TEAR JERKER THOUGH, VERY WELL DOME.

Welcome.... to the Ever After !! It's true Purpose won't be known for a bit, but..... trust me, it's VERY important. So, pay attention to what is said very carefully especially what the Cat is saying... Though, it's definitely not an After life. Neat detail, it only starts having rain when it detected Ruby's Emotional distress

ITS RETURNED! 🎉 I’m so glad you came back to this, I honestly thought you dropped the show for a while, so this was a pleasant surprise. I’m a huge fan of the show, but I agree it isn’t perfect. Some seasons weren’t great, but they still did a lot of things right with this series. I really liked this season, it was crazy, and I did not see any of it coming. There are a few flaws, but there are truly some amazing moments in this season. I cried several times throughout this season lol. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I was never really interested in Jaune as much as the other characters, but V9 really elevated his character for me, I got really invested in him and his development. 16:34 Hooo boy! I'm excited to see his reactions to certain Ruby moments. 42:27 Oh my god he got it instantly, damn. I got mindblown when the reveal happened. 52:23 The amount of things he's correctly predicted so far is insane to me. 1:04:44 He got it! The foreshadowing! 1:13:30 Second reaction channel I've watched that realized it was one of Penny's swords. I didn't, I thought it was Summer's or something until the other reaction channel pointed out what it was. 1:15:28 I love this specific Weiss scene. The hand movements, the tone, it's hilarious lmao. 1:16:06 "I'd be sad too, if _I_ ruined the royal birthday!" Always funny lmao. 1:18:08 "And stop pretending we know what we're doing." Such a raw line from Ruby. Day 2: 1:38:42 One of my favorite Ruby moments from this volume. Her delivery on "Take us to the tree!" was so good, and you could tell how she's continuing to crack. 1:38:51 I didn't know about Robbie Daymond until Campaign 3 of Critical Role, where he was a guest player, but after that, when I first saw (or someone pointed out) that it was him, I could immediately tell and fell in love with the Cat even more.

Jsyk Jeff is no longer doing music for RWBY at this point. All vol 9 music is Casey and her band mate Martin Gonzalez. So that's why the music sounds so different now.

while i did enjoy this season of RWBY, my biggest issue is it didnt continue the overarching story with Salem. that in of itself isnt an issue but coming from such a massive encounter in season 8 going to wonderland...i was disappointed. that being said, character development was amazing and i did enjoy this smaller story of the Ever After even if i didnt enjoy most of the non main characters. there were more than a few jokes that just didnt fit the tone of the scene (Weiss' reaction to Jaune is the big one imo) overall after re-watching it a couple times its still one of the stronger seasons for sure, maybe top 3. but that initial feeling of disappointment will never go away of not continuing the overarching plot

@@caseyp5861 definitely, there are plenty of those. Oz doubles as Odin and QR as his crow/raven. Ruby is Red Riding Hood, Dorothy and The Rose from little prince. Blake is supposedly both beauty and beast in one. Salem is wicked witch and Rapunzel. There are some others i'm forgetting rn

Yeah it doesnt really get explained, but Neos Illusions have a real physical form now. I guess her semblence kinda interacts with this World. But it does feel kinda forced just to make her more of a threath.

Just like Ren's, Neo's semblance evolved. It's like Ozpin and even Winter said, semblances can grow. In the case of Neo, I believe it was caused by her betrayal by Cinder, the hatred she has for Ruby and the anger she was feeling as well as the frustration of failing and maybe the new world helped as well.

i’m pretty sure neo was just abusing the fairy tale setting. her semblance is “overactive imagination” so it makes sense that utilizing the fact that she’s in a fantasy story and the anything goes rule takes priority would be complimentary enough with her already broken semblance and just give her a big power boost. the jabberwalkers are all her illusions but they’re practically standalone now
