Oh yeah, another interesting thing. I believe the first Rooster Teeth song that Casey Lee Williams did was Falling Toward the Sky for Red vs Blue. It's crazy too, I think she was like 9 or 10 when that song came out. This song, The Sky is Falling, doesn't have anything to do with that one, but I do wonder if it's a reference anyway as Lamar Hill was in both as well.

I really like that Friend can be listened to at both the end of volume 8 and volume 3, and have the same impact. There aren't any spoilers from volumes 4-8 in the song. Though, it's definitely more impactful on volume 8, of course.

In regards to "Awake" -- which played during not just the credits of "Midnight", but also in Young Cinder's fight with Rhodes -- I at first immediately considered it a Cinder song when the episode first dropped, despite "Awake" not originally being made with RWBY in mind. I just felt that virtually all the lyrics could be applied to Cinder, not to mention the amount of times it mentions _"truth"_ or _*"the truth"*_. However, in the months that followed, I began to fall off that idea for some reason. Your words in this video, Shark, have reignited my belief that "Awake" can be considered a Cinder song, so thank you very much! And to answer your question, if Cinder was in any doubt that she was truly "awake" beforehand, she most certainly considers herself so from the end of Volume 8 onwards. I'm fairly certain that very first line of "Friend": *_"Darkness like MIDNIGHT, moonless there's no light."_* is a direct reference to Cinder, who is of course Penny's two-time murderer. Also, *_"sometimes it's worth it all to risk the FALL"_* could possibly be another reference to her, but then again you might say that for literally any time the word 'fall' is mentioned. With "Treasure", given the line: *_"Nothing's going to shake my faith, I know you're coming back soon to my embrace,"_* I'm not sure it could possibly refer to Winter as right now she fully believes that Weiss and co. are dead, so she would have no faith in Weiss coming back to her. If the Gods' judgement does in fact turn out to be the final big event of the series, then I suspect that humanity will plead its case to the Gods rather than defy them outright. Like you said, the Gods' powers are universal in scale and they can easily wipe out humanity on a whim if they so much as raise their voices against them. But I don't think the Gods are so stupid that they cannot comprehend human suffering, they just need to hear Ruby and the others explain it to them so that they can understand and thereby judge them worthy. Because all the power in the world cannot even compare to the Gods; there's no fighting or resisting them -- they can only be appealed to and reasoned with.

Like many others, I'm kinda disappointed that there wasn't a full song for "The Truth"; all we got was what little was already given to us in "Midnight". Now that little amount was absolutely brilliant in my opinion, don't get me wrong I love it, but I always thought that there would be more to the song than just that, e.g. Young Cinder and/or current Cinder coming in for the next verses to express her own views and emotions in both time periods. Unfortunately, though, it did not happen. Now the closest thing we currently have to a full Cinder song is still either "Awake", "When It Falls" (which is sung from Cinder's perspective), and perhaps to a lesser extent, "Sacrifice" ("All Things Must Die" is shared between Cinder and Raven Branwen). Here's to hoping that we get full Cinder Fall songs later down the line, especially as her "grand masterplan" (as Roman so eloquently put it) begins to unfold.

This soundtrack, while good, it's definitely the weakest so far. Only 4 new songs upon release! - Awake doesn't count because it's not a RWBY song; - We already knew Friend, so it's not quite new anymore; - The Truth doesn't count because it's barely even a song. Kinda disappointing but gotta appreciate we even got them i guess. Tough times for Jeff right now. Glad he got the time to put everything together for us. Friend and Treasure are definitely the best!

Even though "Awake" wasn't originally made with RWBY in mind, its inclusion in the RWBY soundtrack alone is enough to consider it an honorary Cinder song, especially since it fits so well with Cinder's character, as Shark expressed, to the point where it's arguably fit to be her current theme song over "The Truth" and "When It Falls".

I would love Penny to be an inner voice for Winter if the "I will be a part of you" line was meant literally. (okay with the Ozpin/Oscar thing it wouldn't be that unique) It's worth noticing, that the last episode is called The Final Word. The last spoken line was Checkmate by Cinder, but the last word in Friend was "Alive" :)

I like the idea that Treasure is actually Phyrra to Jaune, but it’s probably about Blake and Yang. Ren and Nora were not on good terms the episode where this played, and it does feel romantic which rules out it being about Ruby and Yang. But also a lot of the songs are about multiple characters these days (e.g. Brand New Say, Be Strong and Hit Stuff).

If sky is falling really is all about oz/car then there is only one casket I could think of that he would be mourning and also marks the beginning of an era. That's summer rose. Ruby thinks that it's highly likely that Salem learned how to turn silver eyes warriors into Grimm after meeting summer rose and even qrow seems to think it's a least somewhat likely that summer could have been on an oz mission when she "died". It could also mark the beginning of a deep seated guilt and regret towards team strq specifically qrow since we haven't had any other Ozpin and ex strq interactions. Although the only evidence I can think of for the regret on qrows part is the way oz reacted when jinn spilled the tea. I believe the tears were because qrow now knew, not the girls. They just weren't as close to oz as qrow so I think that makes sense more. All opinion though. Feel free to poke holes or reinforce lmao
