Got a cheap pair of Saucony Guide 15 to see if the support would help my knee injury. They got me back running pain free almost the first time I wore them. Well worth £60 .

I picked these up two weeks ago and fully agree with you. I'm not a stability runner as in these are the only shoe in my 20 shoe rotation that is a stability shoe. I love them for easy runs. They are just easy to knock out daily miles. I've just been back and forth between these on most runs and the Adidas Adizero Adios 8 on workout days.

Good review on the Guide 17, so much so that it makes me more decisive in switching out my Guide 16..Although still love running on my Endorphin Speed 3..

I bought the Guide 15 on the cheap, to replace my Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22, which I've done 600 easy kilometres in over the past 8 months. I don't love the 15, it's not a shoe I want to naturally reach for, but equally I want to get my money out of it! I'm glad the technology is moving away from traditional "post" type stability. Being fairly new to the stability game, I like my shoes to feel a bit more natural, like my favourite neutral shoes formerly. I have the Hoka Arahi 6 as my casual daily shoe, and I love that. I probably will naturally gravitate towards the 17 in time, so thank you for finding time to review it, and please do an update when you've put a few more miles in it. Best wishes for your gradual rebuild towards London. I'm in training for the Limassol marathon in April. Like you with Barcelona, I'm combining a holiday with a race.

Great comparison of the outsole width to a Hoka shoe, I was thinking the exact same thing. It also looks like Saucony is following Brooks with the higher side-wall rubber for stability (Brooks calls them Guide Rails). I would have liked to see the medial side of the shoes as well, considering it's a stability shoe. And finally, I don't think stability shoes are "niche market" as they make up nearly half of all running shoe purchases (at least in the US). Thanks for sharing this review, Andy.
@TheFODRunner11 ай бұрын
Thanks buddy, yes brooks do call them guide rails, they have them on the hyperion GTS that I have! I think the popularity over here isn’t quite as much, I think the ratio of neutral / stability is more in the favour of neutral! But I might be wrong 🤔
@TravelRunner11 ай бұрын
@@TheFODRunner How do you like the Hyperion GTS?
@TheFODRunner11 ай бұрын
@@TravelRunner I prefer the normal hyperion… the GTS is too heavy for purpose. The hyperion is lightweight and a good fast shoe with minimal stack… the GTS version keeps the minimal stack but isn’t as light so it feels a bit of a dud sadly

I had my running analyzed today for the first time and it was scary to see just how much of an angle my feet went off at. I tried three pairs from various brands (the others were Hoka and Brooks) and these were by far the best fit and style for me so I'm looking forward to getting out in them.

Kind of managed 30min / 5km on treadmill on my first run in what seems like forever and opted to used the Triumph21's which is one of the favourite allrounders I have and not a million miles away from the 20's or 19's Okay there not a an overly quick shoe (and not meant to be) but I didn't think the previous Guides were and apart from cost couldn't see where they fitted into the Saucony lineup. The Speed line up are a no brainer if you want something a bit quicker . Ian

How did this do with outside runs. I’m worried about durability. But I love the fit first shoe to fit both feet great. But I’m either want to get 2 pairs of these for rotation or get a pair and a pair for brooks glycerin 21s for outdoor runs. Thank you. Which would you do

Great review! How would you compare the Guide 17 to Tempus?
@Chungdol8 ай бұрын
Hard to compare, the Tempus is relatively unknown because marketing wise its a flop, it was designed as an stabilty option for the Speed series, but its not speedy at all (but it can do pick up the pace). Both are real workhorses. Some complain that they feel the medial stability foam of the Tempus, but for the most the Tempus is a no brainer. Both are very wide in the toebox, the Guide17 - so said our tech rep - is a "better Hoka" - and I agree to that. My opinion its a style decision. Except one thing: if your femur rotates to inside during your knee lift then stay away from the Guide17, because the wide platform will make the natural knee counter movement even worse leading to a beating of your knee to the outside. (you could and should fix that with training tho)

Absolutely… I think the guide is a really really good option… the ride feels fast and is still quite stable, but the guide really feels like a smooth and solid daily option

@@TheFODRunner thanks Andy, that is what i thought, when you saif you liked the Guide more than the Novablast 4. You said you didn’t like the previous versions and you do love the 17 because of less structural stability. Well maybe that’s because you don’t need the extra stability because you usually run in neutral shoes. I myself really need the extra stability if I don’t want to run in severe ankle pain, so maybe this new Guide is not a good choice for Guide-lovers like me. Disclaimer: yes I have yet to try them out and yes I feel personally attacked because I love the Guide. 😄

Very true and very possible! What I will say is I felt these roll me through the outside of the foot and toe off nicely without collapsing in so I’d love to hear from someone who really needs stability shoes and how they find them! Sorry, I just couldn’t get on with the previous versions 😂
