I chuckled a little when you were talking about the "flak" you received from some viewers about "hoarding." I don't know about others, but I know that I would be a little embarrassed to show the world the amount of creative "stuff" that I have accumulated over the years and I admire your courage, Lindsay, in doing so. I live alone and am now retired, so I have lots of time to try out new things or dabble in new areas. Like you, I have a "fantasy me" that thinks of painting or knitting or taking photos all day and I have more than enough equipment and materials to do them all. This past year I restarted cross stitching after taking a break of about 20 years and it is cool to go through my stash and rediscover some cool patterns and fabric from the 1990's. Yeah, I suffer from "stash beyond life expectancy," affectionately know as SABLE. Who cares? I personally love the fact that you have "real" studio that may not be magazine-ready, but is a functional and fun place to be creative. Don't ever change!

Me too! I knit, process fleeces in my bathtub and with combing and carding, I dye fibers and spin my own yarn. That's aside from all of my art supplies. I kind of stopped all the fiber stuff for now and am thinking of a major destash while I focus on art instead. The struggle is real! May we both use as much of our stashes as possible in the time we have left in the world! 🎉

You shouldn't have to justify your supplies. It is your job. Does anyone go into someone's office and ask why they have so many report, files, pencils, paper clips, rubber bands, etc? It is even more important for you because as you said, you use these to compare with new products in your reviews, which benefits all of your viewers. And what about the environmental idea to use what you have so you don't buy new things. Companies give you a lot of these products, and in your video you always encourage your viewers to not go out and buy the latest and greatest product if they already have something similar

I don't care what you or what it required. People collect all manner of things. You can have a room full of art supplies if you want, no judgement! I have a lovely collection of art supplies I haven't even used yet. I am a collector! I do use my craft supplies, but need to use all my supplies more often! As for scents, I am allergic to everything. Nature, candles, health and beauty, cleaning, etc. so happy for water-mixable oil paints.

Your analogy of someone who does woodworking and what they keep to continue their craft was perfect. Sometimes I think people make negative comments because they are jealous. We didn’t put up a tree again this year, but I put lights on the mantle with fake greenery and berries and real pine cones and it looks festive. I also put them on the high cabinet in the dining room and this year I “ hobo style” put them around the closet in my art area ( using decorative duct tape from the dollar tree). Now they are decorated with felt valentine hearts that I made years ago. I think one reason people get the doldrums in the winter is because after the holidays everything looks so bare. I think your decorating sounds wonderful. Pictures, yes, please.

Aw, why do we always feel the need to justify ourselves!! If it brings you joy, then keep it!! That's an excellent analogy about the carpenter. We could say the same about a chef, a baker, an outdoors man, etc. We all have stuff. As crafters/artists, we're into so many different types within that umbrella, so it ends up looking like a lot. We also see the potential in so many things. It's hard to let it go. I wouldn't be wasting good quality paints either!! Thanks for always being open and honest. We appreciate 😉💕 PS. I always enjoy your channel! I have many items due to my many hobbies and sometimes I say, why can’t I just play the piano and not need so much. Then my son says, then you’d need a lot of sheet music! However, I am never bored and when we were snowed in like the past two days, I had something to do! I am never bored! My crafty friend once said she needed to be sentenced to jail with dull scissors, needle and thread for 6 months so she could finish projects! I think the joy comes in thinking, planning and then doing our project. I may be judged for having a lot of craft stuff, but I feel sorry for people that have no hobbies and are bored the first moment they have nothing to do. Don’t apologize for your supplies! I am lucky that myself and my family and friends are all safe, but this is hardly close to over and will take years to recover from. Sat chat and your other videos have been a welcome respite from the news. Also, I grew up in a hoarder house and cleaned out my grandmother’s hoarder house when she passed and I can confidently say you are not one. Speaking as someone who paid to paint. In Paris with you and going to Italy. This IS your business. It reminds me of when my kids got bullied at school. The bullies are miserable, don’t let them spread their misery to you or let you question yourself. Just smile, send them good vibes for their misery and don’t let them live inside your head. They are not paying rent. Ignore them, don’t give away your power! 💪. Although I do love it when you have a rant. They are always so justified🤣 Watercolor doesn’t go bad! Its funny how easy people can run other's life but not there own so you never need to justify your joy. As for destashing, I have gotten brutal with myself and tossed because I feared I was hoarding and I end up miserably mourning what I got rid of for weeks. I was given good advice one time. If you don't know if you should donate/toss an item flip a coin. If the coin flip comes lands on "get rid of" and it make you sad, then keep it. I love that you have so much to show us because I learn from it. You are amazing and you deserve all you have.♥

Hullo Lindsay, I have never clicked like on so many other people’s comments that show support for you and your collections and saving your supplies for future projects! I was reminded of my first time moving out of my parents home and I was so broke, I moved into a 8x32 foot trailer and I had a place for everything and everything was in its place for the first week! I had a small “living space” that turned into an Art space that was NOT guest friendly but it was a place for me to work! I have an Art room and I work in our former dining area where I feel like I am in a palace with room all around! I discovered that my allergy to oil paints was an allergy to petroleum products! NOT oil paints! I have since used water miscible oil paints, water soluble oil paints. They are real oil paints and I use them with no problem or sickness. I am so glad that you are doing well and that you are proud of yourself! We are similarly proud of you as well! Thankful as well for you and your art teaching videos too! Interesting about the petroleum allergy. Candles are petroleum based. So is mineral oil but oil pastel don't bother me. Thanks for the support!

I think what you said about criticism about women’s crafts/hobbies is very true. My Mom was always a crafter and my Dad did wood working and they would have that conversation …. And his stuff took up a lot more space!

Your carpenter analogy is spot on. Your Room of Hoard is your warehouse. If you have the space, then you do you! No justification needed. The Flower Fairy card looked beautiful. Looking forward to seeing that video.

Hi Lindsay. I hate when you justify your “Room of Hoard” which is really your stock room of raw materials. You make a living from your hobbies. How lucky are you? But never forget this is your business. And these are your raw materials. Ignore those silly comments. What sense does it make to dispose of something you have already acquired, in many cases at much lower prices, when your stuff gets used. And you often pass on the stuff that you determine is not for you. The internet is filled with unwelcome and unjustified comments. To give airtime to these folks is a no for me. Edit: maybe your Room of Hoard should be renamed your Room of Joy. They all bring your joy. 😊

I would totally ignore those negative people. If your stash brings you joy then keep it. My stash overflows between painting/art materials, jewelry materials for beading/wire work/metalwork, stained glass, and mosaics. It’s a lot of stuff but I enjoy the variety! I totally understand your perspective! ❤

Good sat chat morning! I've been both tired and energized since Xmas. We removed all signs of it like 3 days after, and now I want to re-imagine my living room and put it together in a new exciting way! 😂 Your observation about woodworkers or mechanics with tools is so spot on. I would never ask my husband why he has all those bins of nuts and bolts, cables and computer parts, when he's obviously not using them all 🙄 LOL (Which reminds me he needs to make me some more half pans...) I'm not good at making cards, but I use your techniques in art journaling. Can't wait for the long video Lindsay 🥰

Got my archive. Funny is I don't always do the projects (mom/work/wife/family busyness) but I learn from your walking us through it so it's a win-win for me as I get entertainment on the go & apply what I learn when I do get the opportunity to color/art.

Alot of us do not handle criticize well, however, a very good friend once told me that it is none of our business what other people think of us. I know that I and countless others think you are amazing. So those few that want to criticize need to find something to do that doesn't involve other people. As long as you are happy, and you know that you are not hurting anyone else then don't worry about it. Just worry about sharing your crafting with those of us that want to learn!!!

Hi Lindsay. I thoroughly enjoyed your defrag video. I watched it twice already. I found it so helpful and motivating to try to address the enormous “collection” of craft supplies I have acquired over time By KZbin standards I have a very small space and craft collection. But compared to “regular people” it’s a ridiculous amount of “stuff”. I’m trying to muster the energy to go through it all as I usually do this time of year but times are tough in my world right now so I’m not there yet Ignore the haters! Art is your life’s work and your passion. What a blessing for us that we can turn to you for comparisons as you have the stockpile of supplies to draw upon and educate us Thank you for all you do! We appreciate you! Can’t wait to see your card video…and I’m off to watch the “defrag” for the 3rd time for motivation 😃

Happy Sat Chat! I would love to see photos of your Valentine decorations! Haters are going to hate, don’t mind them. The flower fairy baby card is so adorable! My cousin is going to have a baby shower in February, so I’ll be taking lots of inspiration from that! ❤ Excited to see your comparisons of the old Copics vs their new. I’m looking forward to your February calendar page. I managed to finish my January line art of a ballerina and then ran out of steam for the watercolor painting. 😅 January isn’t over yet, so hopefully I’ll get to coloring her eventually.

We celebrate Winter, too, after Christmas, so our decorations stay up well into Jan before we take them down but I do swap a few of the green and red things out for blue and silver, snowy sparkles, along the way… Don’t worry about the inside out shirt… they used to make them that way intentionally back in the day… fads come and go… maybe you’ll bring that back into fashion… 💖

I adore how you always keep it real! Ignore the negativity, everyone has to decide what works for them and nobody should put you down for that if it doesn't align with what works for them. ❤As for the inside out shirt... I did not notice! Not sure I have done that, but I did once wear same style shoes of different colors to work and didn't notice til an hour after there...navy and black look the same in dim morning lights, oops! 😂 Love your SatChats! thanks for being you!!!

I'm not a card maker but love receiving them and seeing what others make. Your baby card is SO adorable! As for having too many "tools", I love my crafting, hobby, and artist tools. It makes me happy to be able to use them when I need them. Even if I don't use them for a few years. I also have more "man" tools than most men I know. To each their own. I don't think you're a hoarder!

Wearing your shirt inside out is such a "sketchy hobo bridge troll" thing to do ~ I think you might create a whole new fashion trend! And I absolutely love the headband in your hair; headbands are very chic and classy. Now I'm going to spend the rest of my afternoon and early evening watching your defrag video and the crafting with older supplies one, too. I love your longer videos and try to watch them within a few days. I hope you get credit for delayed viewing?

Lindsay...keep being you and please don't pay any attention to the nay sayers!!!!! I am not an artist I am a crafter and a want to be artist and any people like me has a large variety/collections of stuff to pull from. I love how you recyle and use items. I also look thru give aways and see how I can use in my crafts/art projects. These people must not do anything creative or they would not be saying these things. Your room of hoard is so organized that I'm a alittle jealous. I have a basement full of these things and they are not organized at all. I use the box method to organize and speed to much time hunting for what I want. Don't give them anymore of your time...let is go and keep being you as we love you and how you are so open and sharing!!!!!!!!!
