It's human nature to look at things that are different. I think it depends on how the stare is and how long, whether it's good or bad. Of course if a pretty lady stares at a guy he's not going to see it in a bad way, as Jan said when she does it they smile at her. I think in order for them to get a better understanding, they would need to walk a day in a foreigners shoes (Of course they can't do that since they don't look the same) but they could walk around for a day with a foreigner observing from a little distance to see how foreigners are stared at to get a better sense of why some foreigners may not like it. As MJ said, yes, it can also make someone very uncomfortable, just as me staring at a petite lady for a long period of time, she would get uncomfortable with it. I saw in another video where a foreigner went to a province that had never had a foreigner and the ENTIRE province (At least 50 people) were standing in the street with their phones out staring and videoing him, how can anyone not feel uncomfortable in that situation. I think some need to learn the difference between culture and behavior, staring at someone has nothing to do with culture, it is a behavior and behaviors can be controlled/changed, if you don't want someone to do it to you, then don't do it to them. Just as staring is a behavior, feeling uncomfortable because of it is human nature and everyone is going to feel it regardless of where they are from, even more so when they're in a different country. Obviously, some foreigners are going to feel uncomfortable by it or this wouldn't be a question in the interview. "They stare at foreigners because they want to talk to them," until the foreigner starts speaking too much English then they get a nose bleed. The best way to learn English is to speak it with a natural speaker, make mistakes, and let them help you learn it. BUT, you have to be open minded and see their help as just that, HELP, not being condescending, foreigners know it's not your 1st language and don't expect you to speak it perfectly, and would be happy to help you learn it better. For me, it doesn't matter how you say something, if I know what you are trying to say then you're communicating just fine. My question is, why do so many dye their hair? I'm a 6' tall white guy and I was stared at a lot in the Asian countries I've been to, namely Japan, Korea and Thailand. I didn't think it was offensive or anything like that, they're just not used to seeing guys like me.Maybe one day I'll experience the Philippines for myself as well.

When I’m in the Philippines I get many more stares in the provinces than I do in Metro Manila. That’s because there are less foreigners in the provinces. I’m tallish in the Philippines (5’11”) and I have lighter skin than some of the locals (I’m 1/2 Filipino 1/2 white, but look Latino) so the locals don’t see someone that looks like me very often. On the flip side, an average looking girl in the Philippines becomes an exotic beauty in the United States and gets all sorts of attention.

I’m a foreigner and I understand that I’m different. There is polite staring and rude staring. When people are curious and a bit interested, it’s very flattering, but it’s rude to give dirty looks especially if it seems like they disapprove of my relationship with a filipina. I love her but I’m nice to everyone. Come say hello!

I do get stares when I walk about in manila and specially other cities outside of manila.i never understood why, I asked mine why ppl stare sometimes and she would say it's a Filipinos thing. I've gotten used to it now though, perhaps it has a lot to do with curiosity because they would see a tall brown guy speaking in a British accent 😇

Iv prepared myself lol, going to be there in march. My friends Filipina girlfriend said being a youthful 51yr old 6ft2 tall, blue eyes and pointy nose lol she said o will be stared at which i dont mind. It will be friendly and refreshing to enjoy such polite hospitality, unlike here in Australia where im pretty much invisible

Well from.my long time experience the gwapo foreigners will definitely get more stares .!! Iv walked along davao city with a filipina suddenly someone would say jackpot lol!!! Or if the man is a lot older then her ! Sometimes the girl i was with would be upset cause someone would mumble something not nice in tagalog etc etc

I found that in Naga, I would get a quick stare, but after my Filipina wife got more stares. My completely uneducated guess is that they-Filipinos are curious to know what type of women do foreigners like.

When i first came to the Philippines after 2 week's going out with my Philippina girlfriend i stops going places with her because Philippinos would stare everywhere i went and i was uncomfortable until my Philippino girlfriend explained to me why they stare at me, after she explained i was ok .in America its rude to stare at someone . Men don't care if women are confident, it's actually in most cases annoying. Women should focus on being the man's place of peace, being pleasant to be around, looking cute, smelling good, feed us. In my experience, American women are much more interested in that and have gold digger tendencies, especiall in places like LA and NYC and Miami. Some Philipones would like to date someone with money but they're not so eager to sell their souls for the high life, meaning they actually want to meet someone they like and have a good connection rather than prioritizing money over all else the way a lot of western women do!!!

Lori, growing up as a fat kid, people starred at me, obviously for the wrong reason😢 ... The, according to others who told me years after the fact, I became a STUD, but never looked at myself as such due to my childhood...then, as life happened and took its toll on me, I found solace in food and I became FAT & ugly I guess...(and bald but that could not be helped🤷)..and I was stared whilst living and traveling in Asia. 6'1" and 350+ #s, but I still did not care what I looked like due to my childhood experiences...I am now losing the weight, but will still be ugly and bald, but I will not care as before, but will hope to find my last partner, (someone like Jan but closer to my age would be ideal...intelligent, integrity, kindness and beauty🥰) there who will appreciate my honor and integrity because after all, is that not what we will always have? As a white here the staring gets old quickly. You feel like you are in a fishbowl or some kind of weird freak. And NO, none of them will try to talk to you, just talk among themselves about you in native tongue & laugh. It's rude & ignorant behavior and it's gotten so bad I HATE to go out in public. But two did tell me I was very handsome.
