Just bought the Dewalt 2.0 system. I'm using them mainly to store and keep my tools in one spot. I think I'll be fine. But I would definitely go with the Milwaukee system if I was a tradesman. Seems geared a lot more for trades people. I'm just a guy in my garage doing handy work for me. Thanks for the review. Simple and honest.

I couldn't agree more. I just invested in the Milwaukee packout system today because I also made the switch from Dewalt to Milwaukee today. I love Dewalt. No issues with them whatsoever. But I am a mechanic now and that is fairly new, and Milwaukee has more mechanic tools than Dewalt, so the switch for me was necessary. But in the end, honestly, go with the brand you like best. They all have their pros and cons.

The toughsystem 2.0 has half size organizers like the packout one you have your left arm on. They also have trays that latching in the medium box pretty nice. But like you said the packout is still an overall nice, easier to use system. Keep up the great reviews.

I’m neutral to the Packout system and I have been running it since the week it was released. Pros: - Connecting system works well - latches work well - all hinges seem robust - lots of packout options now - strong and extremely durable (systainers I’m looking at you....) Cons: -Base options kind of suck (note: sucks a lot less now that they have the two wheel cart.) -the only large case has wheels on it. -Have to take out a line of credit to afford it. If you have a lot of tools and stuff to organize that is. -no drawer options what the hell. (Nvm they have a drawer system now) 2021 release -did I mention it was freaking expensive! -huge and bulky, the interior volume of the cases tend to be small compared exterior dimensions. -basically need a truck or van to carry them. -pain in the ass to lock up.

I just discovered your channel and subscribed w/all notifications. Incidentally, I just picked up the ToughSystem 2.0 stack from Home Depot yesterday. The good news is (and you probably missed them since even DeWalt's website doesn't list them) there are new 2.0 half-width organizers. The yellow tab at the top of the ToughSystem 2.0 box is a hook to catch one side of the new organizers and upcoming bags and boxes, while they clip in on the other side. I picked up two of those organizers yesterday (currently $20, regularly $25). I've had the Ridgid modular system since 2014, the ToughSystem since 2016, and the Packout since 2018 and the Packout is far better than the former two. Currently, I'm sitting at about three Ridgid, four ToughSystem (three 1.0 and the new 2.0), and two Packout stacks plus miscellaneous boxes and organizers, along with a couple of VersaStak (T-Stak in red, more or less), err...stacks and other pieces. The only system I've had issues with is DeWalt's. A DS450 (large box on wheels) had extending handle issues (the handle would pull out too far), then a helper broke the side of the box picking it up using the side handles while it was loaded. Also, a couple of my smaller boxes have had internal bits of plastic break off. To DeWalt's credit, they replaced the large box with no questions, though it was a pain trying to ship the old one back. If I had to rate them I'd say that Ridgid offers the best bang for the buck, albeit with much more limited options; DeWalt was an innovator early on and still offers a good combination of options and price point; and Milwaukee stood back, watched the other modular systems, and released a very well thought out and extremely diverse Packout system that costs at least 25% more than the other two. With that said, I've got to find my drywall tool kit (in a Ridgid box somewhere), locate my DeWalt screwguns and cutout tool, and decide whether to load up the newer Packout or the ToughSystem 2.0 for a job this weekend. Keep up the great work!

Once again, spot on with your points. I sat here nodding my head like a Fox and Friends host. Rimshot! I have the Tough System 1.0 and Packout. The ONLY advantages I see in the tough system are: 1. The inside of the boxes is more, well, box shaped. No funky undulations and weird angles. That makes it easier to modify with custom plywood dividers or lift out trays, sliders, etc. I understand Milwaukee put those in there for a reason, probably rigidity, maybe proprietarity? But I can get more stuff in the same size TS box. 2. I like the trays that lock to the lid on the small tool box better than the Milwaukee loose tray design. The negatives. Side latches SUCK! I actually liked the build of the Rigid boxes best, but the latching method was a no-go. The metal latches SUCK. I know they aren't all metal now, though. All metal latches was one of the reasons I chose the TS1 in the first place. You simply cannot leave them unlatched in a work area. They will snag your pant legs, or worse, OUCH. And the plastic clip that holds the latch to the box get broken VERY easily. I've broken 3 of them. The locking system of Packout is simply genius. As you said, they really do want to fall into place on their own, and unlatch effortlessly, as do the lid latches. They hold even the smallest parts in their respective trays way better than the TS1. The tray dividers can be easily modified to make 4 slot trays with a couple quick cuts to saddle cross them, doubling the number of slots for small hardware. The Packout dolly is awesome. Got it on sale. Didn't think I'd like it. I was wrong. You can access boxes that aren't on top of the stack. The cooler is OK but not great. Way overpriced. The soft Totes are good but not great. Not enough slots for easy access on the outside. Using more than one tote makes them hard to get on and off the stack. The crate is good, but for 40 bucks, not that good. LOVE the half height organizers for hardware. The negative: The rolling box handles on BOTH systems need to either retract fully down or be disconnected. The wheels on the PO are far superior. Rolls smoother and quieter. You can have stacks of PO boxes next to each other, even touching, or in a shelf the same width as the boxes and still unlatch and access them. You don't have to gain side access first to unlatch. (A HUGE ISSUE FOR ME). I've never had a latch break or come undone. The boxes lock together positively every time with a healthy click. No guessing. I've had the TS1 unhook on one side a few times. Not good. Well there's my 2 cents. Keep up the great work. You do a great job. No BS.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and I agree the Packout is top quality. The #1 thing I'd say for Dewalt is that their 2.0 is not really out yet. You are comparing bin organizers from Packout and Dewalt 1.0. The price difference is ridiculous, so of course the Packout is going to be better. For this review, you really can only compare the 3 Dewalt 2.0 containers with the same 3 from Packout. If you still prefer Packout, then that is fine, but comparing 1.0 bin containers to Packout is really not even fair. The bottom line is that Dewalt just needs to come out with more 2.0 products and fast. I look forward to your review of that in the future.

I only use Tough System because my tool system started with winning a DeWalt tool set that came with a Tough System case. There are only 2 things that I like better about the DeWalt system more: The rolling cart and the wall rack. Both of them use the nice grooves on the sides of the cases to hold them up, and it's also not terribly difficult to build your own rack systems to utilize these. The cost is a little better with DeWalt, too, but as your video shows, there's a good reason for that.

I only recently found your channel, and I'm still a novice woodworker, but I absolutely love your reviews. A perfect example of "why" was last month's Festool / Milwaukee comparison. That note about the forward/reverse switch on the Milwaukee... that's a deal-breaker for me. SUCH a great point by you. Every drill I've ever owned works exactly the same way. No reason to make that a switch on the top. And the fact that it won't stand up is also a big deal. In a day of working on a project, I might set my drill down several dozen times. Having to lay it on its side is SUPER annoying. Sometimes the only place in reach is a small ledge. That's the kind of stuff I want in my reviews. If pressed, I'd also point out at least a handful of features you noted in your various PackOut videos that weren't covered in any of the several other videos I watched on them. The fact that the lid stays open. The fact that the edges inside the lid DO keep things from getting mixed up. (I think other reviewers just took that for granted, though not all cases will work that way.) One humble suggestion: what I would really LOVE to see from you is just some "buying guide" videos. "Here is my drill press buying guide. Look for these features: 1) you want a swing of at least x. Let me show you why a swing of less than x will cause you problems. 2) There are a few ways to adjust the drill depth. These methods on some cheaper drill presses will work OK, but if you can get a drill press with an adjustment that works like this, it's SUPER easy to change your drill depth. 3) You will want to be able to adjust the tilt of the platform up to x degrees. Why? Making a cut like this for this type of project. Or like this for this type of project." If you could make videos like that, then even if you don't have a review for a specific tool I want, I can know exactly what to look for. And your individual reviews would still be useful to confirm or deny how well that particular tool meets the criteria you set out, show any features you may have not thought of or something unique that tool does, etc.

Love your comment! Thanks for supporting the channel. This is a good idea on the buying guides, I will definitely try something like that coming up in the new year!

i like the bags and totes they made for packout, but as a guy that runs around a lot in a construction site, they need to make a packout tool pouch. It will be so awesome if they can make the bins from the organizers just insert into the pouch and off you go. And then at the end of the job the toolpouch gets snapped onto the stack.

Hey man, I appreciate that clear and honest review! I’m a Commercial apprentice down in New Zealand 🇳🇿 and we have what we call ‘New Zealand Tax’ for being so far away from everywhere else, that even after the exchange rate, tools are still more expensive for us. But in particular the Milwaukee pack out set is about 70% more than the Dewalt Toughsystem 2.0. I went for the DeWalt purely because I couldn’t justify the Milwaukee for the cost vs what I earn… but this video does make me wish I COULD have the Milwaukee a whole lot more…

Decent review. I agree the Packout is better than the Tough system. Couple points tho, One the organizer is from the 1.0 and its not actually a 2.0 product. Im guessing they will make it for a 2.0 which will be much better. With bins yes the Packout ones feel better being a thicker plastic but with the way the feet go into the bin and having the lid lowered in sections to keep the bins from moving is a good idea but that also means you can't fill the bins up and you need to leave space in all the bins. So you may need to fiddle with them to make the space to close the lid. The Toughsystem 1.0 came out before the Packout. Which means Milwaukee had the time to look at their competitors and make theirs better. I mean wouldn't everyone? With the boxes themselves, of course Milwaukee has way more options the 2.0 just came out and Dewalt hasn't even released all the pieces that they showed during their demo like the trays which I think is a great idea. Ive also heard the 2.0 boxes are lighter which I feel is a great pro for them as the boxes get heavy when you need to lift so many that are loaded up. All in all both great systems and I feel you can't go wrong. Overall I would say the Packout is the top dog but give Dewalt time to get their new line out before you really compare apples to apples

As an owner of the Tough System, I’ll admit that Packout is better in terms of stacking. However, I’ve had racking systems for my TS for a long time (maybe 4 years?). I didn’t need to stack them. I wanted a modular wall of boxes in my van and then again in my enclosed trailer. And Dewalt’s TS was wayyyyy ahead of Milwaukee in that department. That’s why I have the Tough System, and it has worked well for me.

As someone who has invested around $1000 into Tough System 1.0, I found it to be a great system at the time. As time passes I am finding it harder and harder to justify Tough System when comparing it to Packout (not taking into consideration price). Before the announcements in September, I wouldn't even have considered Packout. Without any solution comparable with Tough System wall racks and drawers, I felt I couldn't make the switch. If I had to start over and money was of no issue then I would most definitely go with Packout since we are getting the e-track shelving and the drawer units.

Thank you for this informative video! I was trying to figure out which system to purchase, by comparing them myself. Your video pointed out many things I couldn’t see by just looking at them and comparing at the Home Depot site. Excellent info!

I have both, and agree with you that Packout beats Tough System, but there is one area where Tough System shines. The Tough System side handles are configured to slide onto arms sticking out from a wall or cart. This means you can take out the middle box in a stack of boxes by itself, without fiddling with the boxes above and below. Awesome for a walk-in-van setup. My biggest gripe with Packout is that the boxes that store smaller containers (like the one you opened in this video) have a preset pattern built into the interior lid beveling that you discussed. This means that the compartments cannot be reordered. You're stuck with the original arrangement. I have several of these boxes, and each box must have 2 long compartments in the middle. No mixing and matching.

Great points, thanks for sharing them. Lol-The fact that the Milwaukee parts lid never binds on the cases means the world to me:). Using the TStack bin for years drove me mental!

Love my Packout. The only thing I liked better on my old Milwakee organizer was the lid. I mix and match and like boxes with all square organizers for screws ect. I put 6 rectangular ones in another box. The Packout lid bows with all square organizers. I was going to live with the bow except it wouldn't interlock. Small complaint but would love to see it changed.
@TheFunnyCarpenter3 жыл бұрын
Good point, the only thing I appreciate about the set spots is that with the matching sloped sections on the top of the lids, it helps push the bins into their proper spots when you close the lid.

A great review on the differences between the Pack-Out and the Dewalt 2.0 systems. I have a bunch of Milwaukee M 12’s and Dewalt 20 V system so I was torn between the two but not anymore. I am definitely going to get the Milwaukee Pack-Out system. Thanks for your great review👍🍻

Nice review. I have the Ridgid system, but it’s no Packout. The Tough System 2.0 is a big improvement over the 1.0. Hopefully, Dewalt will make improvements in the 2.0 version of the parts boxes. One thing I do like in the 2.0 is that they offer stackable trays. That helps big time with organizing tools in the bigger tool boxes...
@MrStanwyck3 жыл бұрын
@oShane Kasper I agree.... I wish Ridgid would update their system with more offerings. They could also update the rolling box with bigger wheels, wider and taller telescoping handle that won’t pinch you hand when you stack additional boxes beyond the three that come in the set. I think they have the best crate and clear lid parts box.

the drawers are going to be half of my daily pack out. Can't decide between the 2 wheel cart or the wheeled box as a foundation though. It will come down to if I can get a framing and roofing nailer into the large box that is not the wheeled box.
@evan7753 жыл бұрын
@@mdeamicis i bought the rolling tool box base and i just didnt like it because you lose storage and decided to return it and wait to get the new two wheel dolly. Plus it will allow me to put the draws on the bottom so i dont need to move the draws to get in the box below

@@evan775 I got the three piece set a couple years ago on sale, it's been great. Even got the Kaizen Kollars so I can remove the handle so it fits nicely in the trunk of a Corolla. But I'm pumped for the two-wheel cart, so I don't need that dang big wheeled box. I might finally actually use that medium size box that came with the original set for larger tools like a circ saw and stuff like cleaning supplies, clamps, squares, etc. Also have the packout workbench top thing on pre-order, instead of the third party versions that don't have a latch. For all the work I do, big red makes something in bare tool that will work with the batteries I have. M12 or M18, my handyman ass is covered. I do want some of the makers to keep their level and cup holders from sticking out at 45 degrees, because I have to roll out through a narrow door, and the base packout just fits with fractions of an inch on either side. So I can't use those things, BUT I WANT TO.
Love the Milwauke packout system as well I have the orignial 3 box stack with the large roller cart bottom box and I absolutely love them I use them all the time. They are so Handy to move my tools around the house or into and out of the garage to get work done I am looking forward to expanding it and adding on a few more boxes. I have also been considering adding on the Radio that clips onto the stack to have tunes when I am working.

No one ever regrets buying a quality product! I would wait to buy the bottom (largest box) though because they are coming out with a sliding drawer version in early 2021 which, again, looks to be head and shoulders better than the DeWalt system.

I’m just getting into these systems. I got two rigid stacks, one for my drywall gear and one for my painting stuff. The one thing that was important to me, was being able to access something in the middle without unsticking everything. As far as I’ve seen, only DEWALT does that with its hand truck thingy and wall mounting system. Does this feature work well?

Nice video. But one thing I like about dewalt if you go with the full 2.0 3 boxes is that they’re super light and I really like that. The packout is nice but it’s heavy compared to dewalt boxes. I don’t need my boxes to survive drops from a roof. I would consider getting packout organizers when I need them, dewalt definitely need to update theirs. It’s one thing I’m considering before I upgrade my tstak because if you live in a shady area like me you have to haul your toolboxes to and from garage each day

What that little bevel on top it holds a lot water and dirt and when you fill those boxes with a lot of tools they are to separate,oh I forgot to mention that when you drop it off the back of your pickup those latches on the Milwaukee pop open very easy and that little black plastic that keeps it locked breaks
@TheFunnyCarpenter3 жыл бұрын
Did you see that video on VCG? Vince was throwing the Packout organizer bin off the roof. Nothin. Could those latches pop open... perhaps. Could I be annoyed 70 times a day opening up those Dewalt latches... 100% yes.

As you run systainers, is the Milwaukee system is better for you? I would imagine it to be hard to retrofit festool stuff in them unless your purely talking about misc tool storage. I like the chunkyness of the Milwaukee but you end up using two different systems. I wish the "tanos" boxes were a bit less brittle and more meaty.
@TheFunnyCarpenter3 жыл бұрын
Without the packet drawers I still prefer the Tanos, but when the drawers come it will be pretty close. I like that the Tanos are easier to cary around in a big stack. In a perfect world the Tanous would be a hare more rugged and hold there shape a little better. Thanks for checking out the channel!

I would really like to see Milwaukee make more half sized boxes. Possibly a smaller toolbox type one would be nice. I think that is a strength in their system is that someone that doesn't need such large bins can just buy the half sizes ones. A half size toolbox and a few of the small organizers would be a nice little kit.

This is a tremendous point! I’m working on a future review comparing packout to Systainers, and the one main drawback of the packout system is it can be fairly clunky and awkward in some cases to carry it around.

I never used the bottom boxes on both systems like you said when going into a customers house it’s a lot easier to just grab what you need and carry them in. As far as comparing the two systems the Milwaukee just designed a better system, I originally bought the Dewalt because it came out first, but now I have both which I’m definitely going to be selling the Tough System. Just the amount of options that the Packout offers I really don’t see many people buying the Dewalt system unless they are brand loyal and even then I have seen guys with all Dewalt tools that use the Packout.
